i stopped by the park today for like an hour or so. would have been longer but it was much more crowded than i thought it was going to be at 11am. i missed out on those early october friday daytime crowds, or lack there of. a few pictures of revolution. a train backwards in the station. really hope they never run this backwards. not much that i can see being done. looks like they tore down the walkway fences and will rebuild those some way. other than that, and the backwards train, i don't see much else. good progress for the past month and a half. train in station backwards dumpster i'm guessing the new coaster signs have been up for a while, but i honestly don't really walk by this that often. thought it was cool to see the TC one since i'm on the orange train.

no problem, glad someones watching. lol plus, i feel like i'm getting some moneys worth out of my platinum pass from not using it all year. went again today. looks like they are starting on the upper sections. most of the back half looks fairly complete. no steel track yet except for the pre lift section. so, the top wood and track have yet to be started. new headers were being installed around the mid course brake and drop when i was there this afternoon. there seems to be a lot of clamps holding the headers still. guess they leave it like that until track is complete for some adjustment, then bolt them in.

Saving places / re-entering the line
coasterlvr replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
first, i never think it's okay to run through a line to join others. but what i also can't stand is, like at a front gate or metal detectors. multiple lines and a family will break up, when they figure out which is shorter, the other join. happened to me at magic mountain this summer and dude was some agro fool. his wife and 2 of the kids were in one line, he and another kid in front. i saw him give the head nod to come over, but she said nothing but stood there waiting for me to feel her presence i guess and automatically move. then he tells me to move. so annoying. line jumping in some sort pretty much happens to me or i witness it 100% of the time on my visits to SFMM. i've just become numb to it. even on ERT on Superman at WCB. -
another Ghostrider update. more wood, more wood, more wood. a lot of stacking going on. nail guns pop, pop, popping. out of the station the left side now has steel on top. hard to see with my bad eyes if it was actually new or the old steel just laid back on top of a few new stacks of wood. like Ed said up above, ran into him and rode a bunch of xcelorator rides until closing. fun time! awesome parking job

The Off-Season Survival Thread
coasterlvr replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
while it's nice to be in so cal and have all parks open year round. i'd gladly give up 4-5 months if SFMM would clean the place and do some real good maintenance throughout the park. -
I almost lost a phone out of cargo shorts. The worst are baggy thigh pockets with flap covers that only button in the middle. Try sliding your phone up in the pocket with your fingers pushing up from below it. If you can get it to slide out a gap near top of the pocket; you might be in trouble. A phone can bounce around and fall out if you are shaken enough. Zipper pockets work best but not many have one. i've got some BC Clothing convertible cargo pants/shorts from costco not long ago that are pretty good. they have one smaller pocket on top of the normal right hand pocket with a zipper. i use this for my keys. i know they are never leaving me with the zipper. the cargo pockets on both sides have the normal pocket, but on top of them are two smaller pockets, all with nice velcro. the normal pockets are fairly deep too, which i like. velcro on the rear pockets and are positioned well. you know some shorts aren't the right size or position and you sit smack on your wallet? hate those. haven't used the pants part yet, but figured they'll come in handy some day at a park when it gets cold. only small bitch i have about them is they are a bit heavy.

stopped by Knott's again to see what progress has been made. there is a lot of debris under the structure so they are doing a lot of cutting up there. hard to see everything with so much wood in the structure. looks like they are starting to stack some track wood now. last week it was just mainly headers and some initial wood. they added some more stacks out of the station. haven't seen any steel track topper anywhere yet. so, so far it just seems like a complete retracking except maybe the lift hill. any reprofiling is yet to be seen. working up top return turn on beach blvd. got wood? don't think anything's different here but just took a pic for comparison later. more stacks of wood now. more stacks of wood stacked track wood now starting on return. nothing but dirt still where the swing was.

Glad you enjoyed it! I feel I should pass along some "insider" info about RMC's coasters, though. Apparently the best seats are in the middle of the train. The front and back give their own highs and lows, but for overall "holy crap," sit in the middle. I learned that during WCB! Everyone was piling in for the front and back, but I found my wildest rides in the middle rows for me, the back is still my favorite for the drops. i think my overall favorite seat for TC is somewhere in between the middle and back. row 8-10. but no doubt i've heard many prefer the middle seats.

Medusa Steel Coaster is missing seat material on at least six different seats right now. You're probably half-right about the vandalism though. i know i think nothing of the GP doing damage to the cushions. it's the material. i've seen it on all the RMC trains in videos. with all the ones missing on the green trains, i'd assume that's where they got the replacements on the others i've seen recently.
-
was it the whole train you saw or just one car? one car with the faded seats? the one thing RMC needs is, a new provider of their seats material. those things seem to not last too long. the TC ones are pretty trashed already. i did see they had replaced a few pieces on some of the trains. the pic i saw of the green train had one shoulder seat part missing. i wonder if they are already taking parts off of it for the others?

during WCB i was trying to get my 2016 meal plan added and waited a long time having to listen to an overweight gentleman bitch and bitch to try to get a pass. actually, two passes for his wife and him, and their whole entire family. much respect to the manager their at guest services to stay firm and not give it to them. they were simply just lazy. having to have a doctors note will kill any long arguments about this and let the employees handle more important stuff, like me getting my sports bottle.

Vegas Trip Planning
coasterlvr replied to Taylor Finn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
IF, this is even a consideration, you can Priceline express deal a 4 star for downtown fremont street. the only 4 star is the Golden Nugget that is very nice. March during the week will most likely be really cheap. if going to adventuredome, when i last went, jan, i got a coupon for $5 off for unlimited rides at the gas station. probably Rebel gas, i forget. el loco is fun, i also like canyon blaster has a couple rough spots, but i love the first drop. do you have more ideas of what kind of stuff you want to do in vegas? if i can be a little judgy, i'm not sure we all know what a 21 year old from pa is expecting. lol over my lifetime, i've gone to vegas for many different reasons. sometimes it was clubs, shows, gaming, etc. you might have the time of you life walking down the strip and getting pranked on by the number of youtube pranksters. haha -
stopped by Knott's earlier to see how Ghostrider is progressing. i made it a little before the guys were going home. looks like most of the focus is near the turn around after the mid course drop. the area where we got to take pics during WCB. a lot of replaced headers and woodwork on top. from what i could tell, didn't look like any re profiling in that area. you could see some areas where the headers were held in place by some massive C Clamps awaiting for holes to be drilled so they could be bolted on. the drop out of the station and area pretty much looked the same to me. there are a couple piles of wood nearby though. as well as wood obviously where they are working now. anyway, here are some of the pics i took today. wood up high waiting to be installed. fallen header towing some wood away. last time i was there, there were dumpsters near the site. they are gone now.
-
it is, imo also. when i went the other day, besides the entire park being dead, the ghostrider area is basically shut down. so you can really get a look at it without distractions of visitors. it really does have a nice, clean, themed area. so either it is pretty nice, or i've just spent too much time at SFMM this year and i'm now too easily impressed.

I know what you mean. It was a much longer drop then what I was used too. i love lex luthor. i mean, lex luthor drop of doom, the ride. lol to me, it's one of those rides you don't quite get used to. it's dang high, and the drop feels like it goes forever. i think the tight security of the restraints make many feel like it's not so out of control. i understand that. i also think that some of the fun is watching and hearing other freak out from the height. i always felt the s&s towers felt like, well, like there's a cable attached. lol rode supreme scream the other day, and i still prefer lex. any ride that is smooth, and has decent capacity at magic mountain is a good ride, imo.

Supposedly it's 99-cent refills day of purchase only, but from what I was told when I bought mine at Krusty Burger, you can get it refilled on return visits for $3.19 or $3.49 or whatever the price of a regular drink is currently. Funny enough, the first time I tried using mine after that first visit, they still gave me the refill for $0.99...but maybe the cashier was just being nice (I went back to Krusty Burger). I wasn't asked for a receipt- I just said that I'd like to order a refill, showed the cup, and I was only charged $0.97 (this was the price after applying the 10% AP discount). So I'm not counting on being able to get $0.99 refills in the future, because I figured I just got lucky that day. But yes, according to the Team Member at Krusty Burger who I bought the bottle from, you can do refills for the price of a regular drink on return visits. Of course, sometimes you get false info from the front lines though, so I'll take this with a grain of salt for now. On the subject, I hate that they got rid of the normal $0.99 refills! I bought my first souvenir bottle in 2011, and was able to use it for $0.99 refills when they were still offered regularly (meaning you could get them anytime on all future visits without a day-of proof of purchase) without any issues up until Springfield opened. I can understand why they did this though- the lines at all the food venues already got crazy long before Springfield, so I'm sure guests waiting in line for only refills didn't help. I was told that this is also why the all-you-can-eat wristband was discontinued a few years back. Before Transformers opened, they used to offer this deal where you could dine all-day at select locations, and it was great! But it was discontinued right before Transformers opened because they were expecting larger crowds, and so they needed tables to turnover faster for the influx of crowds they were about to receive. Again, this is what I was told from a front line team member at the time, but it makes sense. I miss these cheap food and drink deals, but I guess it's the price we're paying for a bigger and better USH! I'm sure Joey (Jew) might be able to give more insight though! thanks, seems like it would just be a better deal depending on how many refills you get to just buy another and get 99 cent refills.

stopped by knott's earlier to see if i could see any RMC cranes or guys in RMC shirts. LOL j/k well, "knott" really. anyway, took a bunch of pics for all to see. seems like just about all the track is completely gone. the lift hill track is still there, and half of the pre lift is. the new wood on the pre lift looks like it's the top part of the stack and not the top piece of wood where the steel resides on, fwiw. went in to get a few rides in too. i forgot how dead off season is at knott's. at least i can say i've used my platinum pass twice this year now. WCB and today. sat near a guy marathoning silver bullet listening to him ramble off what number ride it was for the day, over and over and over and over. anyway, here's the pics...
