Marathon riding?
coasterlvr replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
so, they didn't let you do back to back rides on one ride? they wouldn't let me last year and i did the figure 8 over and over. did 10 on each to feel like i got my money's worth. but left with a bruise from canyon blaster. lol -
some memorable long ones for me...Twisted Colossus on Memorial Day. 2:45 minutes. longest amount of time ever in a line for me. line stretched out almost to superman. Indian Jones at Disneyland maybe opening day, or maybe weekend. I really don't remember. we got in line in front of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. it was near park opening so the line was still moving fairly fast and hadn't bunched up. pretty sure it was still 2 plus hours. i've happily waited 2 hours plus multiple times for the front row of The Beast 20 years ago.

Carowinds Discussion Thread
coasterlvr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
hey everyone...i see carowinds will open for the season march 25th. is that daily operation from then, or just for spring break, or what? the calendar isn't up on the website yet. hoping to make a trip out there next year, possibly early april. thanks -
I could be completely wrong, but I swear this is something that's increased over time. I seem to recall it being more aligned when it first opened, but now, if they leave the lift hill together, they don't finish together. Honestly, I could be imagining it. Anyhow, the ops were doing a stellar job of syncing last time we were there, so we got the best of the high five as well as the barrel roles. I'm still not completely enamored by the ride itself (I personally would have preferred something more like Wicked Cyclone), but there's no denying that the fun-factor goes through the roof when the trains are racing. this is true, it's different now than when new. during commercial shooting if they left at the same time, the high five was off, but top gun and zero g was even as well as going up the double up. it's not like that now. lately, it's been totally different. i'm sure just a few rusty wheel bearings here and there can change it all. but my expectations have lowered, if i'm within 10ft of another train, i'm happy and amazed. haha

the ones that were originally near the transfer tracks definitely were at least missing seat cushions. when you see those missing in pics, then brand new black ones on the trains, my guess is that's where they came from. i saw the covered trains in a different area today. if they are the same ones, that's new covering for them. i always thought it was dumb to leave them out half covered before. that's not too untouched to me. that's a newer tarp over the old white plastic.

Best Park Skyline?
coasterlvr replied to coastercoaster5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the quantity, but especially, the quality of coasters, Cedar Point easily gets my vote. the scale of the skyline gets lost in how enormous it really is. btw, my pics. -
anyone see "Super Into" with Diablo Cody? i caught it by accident, only because i was watching another episode with nick young and shoes. lol anyway, they go to magic mountain. pretty good episode. alan schilke makes an appearance. i wonder if they flew him in just for the show, or he happened to be there doing some surveying? here's a clip on youtube. i watched it on demand on directv but i think there's another showing soon. Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?
coasterlvr replied to TheDark8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
for me, it had intense neck cutting. i had a nasty mark on my neck during one of my first rides. lol i think it's just different depending on height and body size. i see videos, or guys who are tall, or big and the way they fit into the restraints, it's impossible for their head to ever hit. not me. but, i can ride it without any issues except for the turn out of the second launch. but i really needed to pay attention. haven't ridden with the new restraints, so i assume i can just relax and enjoy the ride! as far as smooth coasters...gatekeeper, MF, banshee, goliath and raging bull at sfgam. silver bullet might be the smoothest with the OTRs. i don't really know, sorry, didn't really put a lot of thought into those answers, just what popped into my head. -
Marathon riding?
coasterlvr replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
some of my larger ones are. Viper SFMM 54 times in 4 hours. i think i only got off to go to the bathroom. 20 years ago. i'd be done after 2 today. Batman 50. i don't remember how long it took me. it was during a Superman pass holder preview day. most were riding superman when it went up like half way the year before it really debuted. but superman was also open for us. maybe free fall too. canyon blaster 50 during an ERT session in 1995. i used to take a casino bus to buffalo bills and ride desperado all day. pickup at like 7-8 am in orange county, ca. bus ride there, purchase all day pass, ride, ride, ride, eat free buffet, ride, ride, ride, get back on bus and be home around 11:30pm. no idea how many times i would ride each day. it wasn't a ton though. you'd have to wait for a long time before they dispatched trains. twisted colossus did 8 in a row and 16 that day during commercial filming. that was fun. i know there are some here that were able to get on every time and were in the 20's in a few hours. this past jan i did canyon blaster and el loco 10 times each in probably the shortest amount of time you could alternating. they wouldn't let me stay on either. it was okay, cause i don't think i could do that many on canyon blaster in a row. there's a brutal hit you take after the double loop. i had a decent bruise on my the next day. i did 10 on each cause i felt that was enough to justify my day pass. had a convention to go to and had planned to go back at night, but they changed their hours without warning. oh well, el loco was a blast. anyway, those big days are gone doing lap after lap on older coasters. -
46 now and, i'm not even sure what my first coaster was. how lame is that. my best guess would be either, something at SFGam or Matterhorn. i was born in chicago and lived there until i was 5. then moved to california. disneyland was always somewhere we went a lot. could even be space mountain. i don't remember going to knott's and not even sure they had any kiddie coaster i could ride back then.

Your favourite drop

i'm also a fan of Raging Bull, along with Goliath at SFGam. MF is definitely up there as one of my favorites as well. -
Who ever puked during or because of a ride?
coasterlvr replied to ItsMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
luckily, not yet. i'm not sure if i still have the same tolerance as i once had, but haven't ever felt close. but i also haven't done any crazy marathoning on anything like i used to. (50+)
