stopped by Knott's real fast to see what's going on with Ghostrider. a lot more wood, but still no steel that I could see. i can't see any changes in the track, yet. all the headers are supported by "L" brackets that look old. but obviously, i can't see every one. also, doesn't look like any wood is being removed from the actual structure, which, the guide i had at WCB gave as part of the reason it was rough. because the structure didn't give. i never thought that made that much sense. anyway, here's some pics i took today...

my buddy and i went out to Holiday in the Park tonight to check it out and get a couple rides on TC. i totally missed last year all together, so, didn't want to miss this year and at least see some lights. i thought it was pretty decent for Magic Mountain. by 6pm or so the park was pretty dead. it was cold, 52 degrees when we got there and a bit less when we left. top of drop of doom was dang cold. lol got my second dual duel on TC, and best one. kind of a bummer it was dark, but i was grateful it even happened. second ride, nada. oh well. got a couple pic of revolution. it was dark and all i could see that was different was the train wasn't in the station anymore. anyway, had a good time for a couple hour trip. screampunk district sign looks awesome at night. lol [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Getting Too Old To Ride...
coasterlvr replied to Rider51's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i sometimes think about this. i'm often ask myself, is it me, or was that ride really bad? SFMM Viper. back in like '95-'96 i used to marathon that thing. 57 times in 4 hours was my record. loved every ride. today, 1 ride and it might have been my last. lol SFMM Green Lantern. one ride opening season. also probably my last ride on it ever. SFMM X2. every time i ride it i think the same thing. wow, this is cool, then ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch! 19 years ago KI Vortex was so awesome to me. Last year, i got off slow to make sure my back was still in alignment. Circus Circus Adventuredome Canyon Blaster. 20 years ago did like 50 in a row. this year, i made it to 10 in a short span of roughly an hour or so. but each time hurt after the double loops. i was just trying to get my moneys worth going back and forth between it and el loco. el loco which doesn't bother me one bit. those are just some of the examples that have changed. my guess is that the rides haven't aged well. but, because i'm now 46 nearing 47, i question myself. getting queasy isn't a problem. but i also don't marathon crazy flat rides. i know i can do at least 8 in a row on Twisted Colossus without any problems. sure i could do 100 without issue. so i think it's just the rides that have changed more than me. i'm probably just not as tolerant of a rougher ride these days with smooth ones on the other side of the park. -
instead of having an ocean view off the cliff of Malibu, you could have a coaster skyline view of Magic Mountain. lol i hope if they build homes there it comes with a contract saying, no whining about the noise from Magic Mountain, ever. lol next thing you know, there's tunnels and half tunnels covering all the coaster drops.

Do you just not bother going to guest services to complain about situations like that? If a worker saw and allowed line cutting like that I think it would be worth telling the management team. I can't see six flags ever cracking down on line cutting. But if they did and actually made examples of people caught red handed by throwing them out of the park for the day. i think it would be attempted a bit less often. But, doing all of that costs money and we all know six flags hates spending money on anything they don't have to. well, i can say, i've never gone to GS to complain. i've never seen any employee do anything over all the years. i do tell them about specific instances in each questionnaire i reply to. i'm more pointing out that it happens. just something i'm used to at SFMM. oh, i do need to commend the lead at TC. he actually chastised the crew telling them they were being way too slow. at least the 3 in the rear of the train including the board operator. i was impressed with that. crack dat whip! lol

went for a few hours today. parking to the gravel lot like i had mentioned above. nice weather. well, the weather i like. just cool enough for shorts with a light jacket. did get a bit cold later in the day when the wind kicked up a tiny bit. there was some filming going on in the parking lot. there was a whole bunch of trucks and trailers later, but also gone by the time we left around 5ish. didn't do too much just rode TC twice. was going to see how rough Apocalypse was but the line was too long. so grabbed a bite to eat, rode TC again and bailed. didn't even get over to see what was going on with Revolution. anyway, a few pics... movie truck Galactic World wire ball tree team member Samantha, just tell her you are cutting the line and it will be okay. everyday line cutter everyday line cutter nice tree with needed barrier to keep disrespectful guests off Superman's icicles. lol

looks identical to me. i don't even think they changed headers on that turn. using the top rail as a gauge, i don't see it different. but i also have been there and looked at everything a decent amount and as much as i can see, the headers that have been replaced, all seem to be in the exact same spots. will be nice to compare pics like you did with old and new, just this one didn't seem to prove anything to me. am i missing something?

Where Are You Going in 2016?
coasterlvr replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i couldn't get anywhere this year, so, hoping to get some travel done next year. the only ones i know for sure i'll get to are SFDK and Great America. trying to figure out a good driving plan to hit a few parks. but parks i'd like to hit are: most likely Dollywood Carowinds BGW Kings Dominion Cedar Point Great Adventure Kentucky Kingdom -
most all the promo images are from that last batch of rides from the first day after the paid actors were finished. so pretty much if you were on either train, you're going to be on every image. here's a link to the full resolution image. mms.businesswire.com/media/20150520006487/en/468927/5/Twisted-Colossus---Drop.jpg?download=1 That's me!!!! Holy hell what luck. This made my year. HANDS UP! another great one is this one... mms.businesswire.com/media/20150520006487/en/468926/5/Twisted-Colossus-1.jpg

Say what you will about the restraints, but those trains are not poorly designed - they're one hell of an innovation if I've ever seen one. I couldn't agree more. In fact, I would argue the inverse in terms of their "poor design". I think they are probably the most comfortable trains I have ever had the pleasure of placing my rear in (sorry B&M). The padding comes off for easy cleaning and replacement which if you ask me, is pretty nifty. They offer a glassy smooth ride and the suspension system built into the trains is in my opinion, a work of art. In response to the lap bar complaint, I don't believe the lap bars themselves are heavy, I think think that effect comes from the hydraulics and there's probably a reason for that. RMC has the resources to make lap bars that act similarly to that of B&M or Intamin, I think they chose not to. i'm not sure i'd rank them over B&M hyper, but they are damn comfortable. the lap bars are heavy, but never move while riding. the one thing i don't like, at least on TC, is it does take a bit to unlock once the train is stopped in the station. the seats and pads are the only bad part. but, not the way they attach. the material and coating isn't holding up.
