West Coast Bash 2015!
coasterlvr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i don't know how much the Hallelujah Jubilee affects attendance, but it is the same day. https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/special-events/concert/hallelujah-jubilee -
No they can run 3. 3 trains is only needed June-end of Fright Fest. That leaves them 7 months to rehab 3 trains. Their issue is that their cycle shop is understaffed so train refurbishments take longer. i know it took 4 guys to reinstall, remove and reinstall the right color front shield and 4 bolts in 45 minutes on TC during commercial shoot. so, i can only imagine how long it takes to rehab an entire coaster train.

Not sure if you're being a smart A$$ or not but to let you know, I have been traveling to LA for several years now, I am quite familiar with a good bit of the public transportation systems. It never hurts to ask locals, experts on exactly what would be the best options for travel. That's what we are here for right? To everyone else, thanks! Im still figuring if I wanna stick to public transportation or biting the bullet and renting a car. More suggestions and options are greatly appreciated... i'm not much of a public transportation guy, but i'd think it would take so long i'd probably bite the bullet and get a cheap car.

The only RMC to date that uses steel wheels is Outlaw Run, for some reason SFGAM decided to use nylon and poly wheels on Goliath. RMC won't run steel wheels on steel track for more reasons than one. there's an interview with alan shilke where he said, at least at the time of the interview (media day), that wicked cyclone was using a combo of all three wheel compounds.

My problem with Goliath is that it's just so boring. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but there's no real oomph to the ride outside of the helix o' doom that's been tamed. The first drop is pretty bad, though the tunnel at the bottom is great. The high turn is cool but not thrilling. The "airtime" hill provides zero airtime. The MCBR, at least the past few times I've ridden, have brought the train to a complete stop. After the MCBR it's just random turns and the helix o' doom which, as I mentioned before, has been tamed to be nowhere near as forceful as it used to be. It has some good ideas but just poor, boring execution. don't disagree with any of this, but, with nothing else nearby thats tall and fast, i enjoy it for what it is. and because it has decent capacity with short lines. but it was much better without that slow down at the top, and the ridiculous mid course break. TC's drops are awesome, but after riding SFGAM Goliath, makes you wish for more. even love Raging Bull's drop with the pre drop as well.

i'm all in for both days. looking forward to some TC dueling with 100% enthusiasts. after great fun with enthusiasts during the commercial shoot, GP rides are duds. just gotta figure out where to take a nap during the day at SFMM. lol -
i can't see visiting a park from far away and not getting fast land/flash pass anymore. takes so much stress off, imo.

i still am looking for the dual, duel after like 25 GP rides. i've actually only had a 4-5 good duels out of those rides. btw, i count a duel as one where the trains drop off the lift together in less than a second. anymore than that, and one train is just chasing the other with practically no interaction.

If that's the case I'm guessing I rode the non-maintained train, my train was practically bouncing around the course. People sitting behind me were even comparing it to Ghostrider roughness in the jackhammer department. i rode the newly refurbished train. not sure if it was worse or better than the other, but i was internally debating if it was worse than ghostrider. ghostrider the last time i rode it, i felt it could really do something bad to my back. i didn't feel like that with apocalypse.

it was easily the worst i have ever felt it last thursday. it was right up there with my favorite rides in the park before. i rode the new refurbished train with the restraints with the bar near your feet. i couldn't keep my vision clear it was shaking so violently. keeping my back off the seat helped some, but it was still pretty bad. i'm not sure i'd call it rough, but it was shaking like never before. also, only about half the train was loaded, which i know used to make a difference, but, not like it did this past ride. i've been with just my friend and i in the back, and wasn't as bad as it was this last ride.

i used to love viper. i used to marathon viper on those days when MM was still open weekly during september. i gave it a go the other day in the front. no wait, so figured wth, i like the wind in my face. wasn't nearly as bad as the last time i rode in the back, which was my favorite seat, but it felt to me like it was time for it to go.
