  1. that might actually mean they are bad. for instance, i good grouper could put groups of 3 together in two rows. or, if they have like 2 rows left and a group of 5 is next. they should look to the regular line for 2's. but instead i've seen them pull 5 from single rider. that's when single rider is great. sometimes it's just easier to not have to go looking for those 2's and instead pull from the single rider. that's the person i want doing grouping if i use the single rider line. lol
  2. if anyone needs a SFMM Gold Pass with parking, they sent me an email to buy up to 6 for $72.99 plus processing fee of like 8.99 i think it was. but that's for the entire order i assume.
  3. i am normally a back seat rider. and, i think it's awesome in the back. i like big elements mostly, so the first drops, blue after high five and under top gun are all awesome in the back. but, my overall favorite isn't the middle, but a few rows behind. 8-9. i didn't care too much for the front as usual for me. another guy at the commercial shoot i was talking to really liked the middle as you do. i think the only deciding factor for me is i was just that tiny bit more over the hill yank down. give me middle to the back and i'm happy.
  4. I was talking about when I went to the slurpee event a couple years ago.
  5. anyone go to the slurpee ride event tonight? I went maybe year before last and it was completely dead. could stay on Goliath as long as we wanted to. left to ride drop of doom a number of times though. was curious if one of the rides was TC tonight.
  6. that's cutting a lot of the day out, imo. even 8:30 i think is. but if i'm traveling, i like to close the park and be the last car in the parking lot. lol
  7. if only disney employees and policy were comparable to most sfmm employees and policy. lol
  8. the way they designed it is a total fail, imo. the normal entrance into the rows on one side, and the single rider on the opposite end. they should be next to each other so when a group of three comes in, they just simply pull one from the single rider. depending on the grouper, the single rider can go at a decent pace, or almost hardly move. the only time i used it on my last visit, i shouldn't have beat my friend who went in the regular line except that they just pulled 4 of us out and assigned rows to us without anyone from the regular line. i even got the front. lol but out of 5 rides that day, the regular line beat the single rider every time. single rider had roughly 20 people max and regular line was just at the entrance under the sign.
  9. In general, I think rainy days are excellent times to go because attendance will decrease. Do a google search for "magic mountain rainy day" and you will find a trip report. That being said, there is only a 20% chance of rain tomorrow. the weather channel shows me a 30% chance, but only at 10am. looks like the rest of the day will be just cloudy...and 84-88. yuck so i'm sure the rain will be nothing to be worried about.
  10. i'm not a super huge fan of the Scream colors but i'd rather have the ugliest new paint color over faded and neglected. there's so much faded and neglected all kinds of stuff at magic mountain. now the appearance from the parking lot is great.
  11. the story i told a couple posts above was when they were using boarding passes. another story was last summer at SFGAM same sort of thing, but part of the party just got their passes and walked their way through the line to their friends. number no where near matching and were let right in. the pass checker even looked at the ticket. imo, he had to have seen the difference but did nothing as i expected. with that said, i'm sure the boarding passes work. but i've only really seen them in use on new coasters. (i don't often go to MM on crazy busy days)
  12. that reminds me of what happened at memorial day when about 3 kids walked up past the 2 hour line just to get to the station on TC, flashed their boarding passes, and met up with others. but honestly, when the line was near 3 hours, i don't blame anyone for getting in and out before the station. to me, it's all just laughable now. annoying, but just one of those things i just watch and laugh at these days. it happens at least once every time i go to magic mountain. i know nothing will ever be done so i don't let it bother me much.
  13. the TC line is perfect for friends to join others. they (5 people) can even say excuse me to the flash pass guy and nudge him out of the way to join their group. dude didn't do a thing. they didn't even have to duck under the rails. it's one of the most annoying things at magic mountain. half is people just thinking it's okay, and the other half is, security never doing anything about it. i will say that, not sure what these two guys were doing, but they were in the very front waiting to get on the next train and were pulled out of line and escorted out.
  14. flash pass and fast lane was my savior last year on my trip to SFGAM, CP and King's Island. each have their different values depending on park but going somewhere i don't live near by, i'll always buy them. sure, i think only allowing one or two rides on a new premier attraction sucks, but it is what it is.
  15. guess the "final ride" wasn't your final ride. lol I'm in line too
  16. I I guess I never really looked close at this image but the new layout is overlaid the old colossus. I was looking at it while in line and was thinking what's the red lines for, then realized it was the old layout. DUH
  17. a gray one. bald Asian dude with another short Asian dude. lol but I was alone waiting for him after my ride.
  18. single rider line sucked until there was a new grouper change. then he was fast. but what it really means is the other person was putting odd groups together instead of pulling from the single rider line. anyway, I got my first front row ride. now waiting for my friend who got in the regular line after we were waiting in the single for about 20 minutes. I barely beat the guy who I would have been behind. but, with the current grouper, I think single rider is worth it right now.
  19. Yeah, from now on I will not buy a flash pass in advance. I will buy one only if I think it is worth it after being in the park for an hour or so. Why was X2 down? Damn! I thought it's been discussed on here quite often that typically you want to get to the park, see how busy it is, maybe make a lap to see how the lines are, then decided whether or not to buy the pass. I have only used Flash Pass 1 time and that's when I was with my brother and it was a pretty busy day, lots of rides with 1 train operation. With the pass there's some kind of deal to buy 1 get 1 person on free or something, so we went for it. But like I said, a lot of the rides were open, and then we decided it would be worth it to drop the discounted price of $75 for the both of us. Sorry about the poor experience. doesn't seem like the BOGO gold offer is available anymore. all i see i can get with my pass is $5 off.
  20. although i think i understood that you could only ride once all day, if someone told you otherwise, i'd be asking for a refund or something. since i've never bought one at magic mountain, i don't know how they've done new rides in the past. but i was clearly aware when i went to SFGAM last year, i was allowed 2 rides on Goliath. thankfully they changed it to 2 before i went.
  21. that's my video, sorry the sound sucks. lol i also had these printed at costco today. the drop one came out dark. didn't look like that on the computer. might do that one over. anyway, costco charges 10 bucks for a 20x30. i'm sitting next to superbatboy, but didn't know it. lol is anyone else in these images?
  22. Oh no, not this again! I'm just gonna go ahead and nip this in the bud: Magic Mountain is NOT landlocked. At all. They have room all over the place to build anything they want. How do you know they aren't landlocked? I was told that Newhall Land and Farm owns all of the surrounding areas of the park right up to the backstage access roads. I'm genuinely curious to know if they don't actually own that land. I they aren't land locked, they sure aren't too creative with coaster locations. BTW, I saw the new Twisted Colossus commercial tonight.
  23. carowinds, cedar point, canada's wonderland. maybe they can sell all the coasters i don't care to ride anymore and get enough money for a giga.
  24. I totally agree on your first 2 points. I've also heard here that a test seat is coming out front. Yes, no loose articles on the platform. That will dramatically improve the boarding process. it's a small inconvenience on rides like millennium force and top thrill dragster, but definitely helps capacity. i'd definitely not be against it.
