Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
gerstlaueringvar replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I was 7 when I rode a Condor at Ocean Park, the ride op said I'm old enough to ride alone so me and my mom sat on different "cages". I remember twisting my arm around the bars because I felt I was about to fall off. -
^ I totally agree! Golden Horse said they don't have what it takes to design their own new products. But I really think they are just making excuse for being lazy. They made it sound like all the great designers in the past have super advanced technology. When their new coasters are even worse than 1975 Arrow Corkscrews, they need to find ways to improve their own product and start their own designs instead of making the same mistake over and over. Japanese companies found a better way than Chinese companies, they make identical rides at first then they start to push their own limit to make original rides. Chinese companies just get comfortable too easily. They don't have employees that are truly enthusiastic about designing and their designers lacks creativity thanks to the education system. I think this is a chain effect.

^ It's not ignored, the law is there but those manufacturers would put their dignity aside and copy the others instead of use a little more brain to create their own system. Manufacturers just need to make a little change from the original model and they wouldn't be considered copy by the law. If China just cut the knock-off business completely, a huge amount of people will lose their jobs. So now the government is pushing the process step by step. It might take a while but it will get better. A park that will live long certainly know the importance of building quality rides, those full of Golden Horse rides will be eliminated from the competition anyway.

The Official TPR Video Thread!

Mega-Lites are perfect coasters, love the airtime, the twists and the decent positive G's. Last time I rode it was four years ago and I still dream about riding one pretty often. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
gerstlaueringvar replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think orange paint is the cheapest, maybe CP repaint it just because they want the GP to see Rougarou as a brand new coaster. If they keep the old color scheme, some of the Mantis hating GP will not come and ride it again... I prefer the old color as well. -
Agree! They are all horrible. Sure, they can put an Expedition GeForce clone and an El Toro clone on their website. But they don't have anything completely designed by themselves. Even if they have, nobody bought them yet. Before their own design opened, I would remain a Golden Horse hater and say Camiel made a big mistake.

They can't be the next Vekoma. If I have to choose between the four biggest manufacturers in China, I think Jiuhua or Shibaolai is the one. Golden Horse and Zhongye hasn't don't anything new so far and Golden Horse has the worst manufacturing facilities among the four companies. During an interview, Golden Horse's CEO said they are comfortable with what they make now but their own design "will come". Somehow I get the feeling that they aren't interested in doing something new, the 16 Inversion Coaster and Eye Loop is just them using two great designs to get back to Zamperla.

The new coasters I rode this year aren't on the list. They are Parrot Coaster, knock-off SkyLoop, Walrus Splash and Polar Explorer. Among them, I think my favorite is Parrot Coaster and Polar Explorer. For all the coasters that opened this year, I think Medusa is the best one followed by Lightning Run, Helix, Goliath, Banshee, Roar O Saurus, El Lovo, FireChaser Express, Sky Scream and Thunderbolt.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
gerstlaueringvar replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Happened the same to me on Chimelong's Dive Machine, the OTSR popped up a click during the first drop. I was at the third row and I already spared two clicks for more airtime (before NTaG accident when I completely stopped doing that) But I wasn't scared because I know those restraints won't fail Anyone knows how the restraint mechanics work on B&M coasters? What could be the factors that cause such thing? This seems to happen quite a lot because two of my friends told me they experienced the same thing. -
Europa Park Discussion Thread

I don't really think they can make something new out of zombies. You can cut all parts of their bodies off except for their heads and Walking Dead did them all. -

First Defunct B&M?
gerstlaueringvar replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now that B&M is offering sit down trains for their stand up coasters, if Rougarou goes well, I think Carowinds' and CGA's Vortex and Apocalypse will get those transformations. Not sure about if Scorcher is a smooth and enjoyable one but Riddler's Revenge is fine as it is now. But I prefer remove CGA and Carowinds' Vortex and put Mega-Lites at their spots. -
Some photo updates... Shibaomerang is done, the mine train is done and there is a weird family coaster that looks like a custom designed one. Shibaomerang doesn't look that horrible IMO because the original Boomerangs are already horrible. This weird family coaster... Can anyone identify if this is a custom design or another rip-off of some lame layout? OMG what the hell is going on here?

Same! I've ridden the two Dive Machines in China and they are both so boring! GP made a huge deal about the drop being vertical and they even refuse to believe a coaster can do more than 90 degrees drop without trim brake. Seriously more parks need to buy something like Maverick! SFMM Apocalypse is one of the coasters that I do t hate but I definitely am not a big fan of. The lateral force come too sudden right after the first drop, the layout doesn't really give a lot of airtime and it's too short.

Durian P izza restaurant opened right next to where I live! Awesome!!!

I think they are all pretty bad. If I have to choose it wuld be a tie between Shibaolai's and Jiuhua's. Shibaolai's newest version reverses the direction of the inline twists to avoid coat hanger and they did pretty well, Jiuhua made some good modifications to the original model and significantly improved the experience. As for Zhongye and Golden Horse, they need to go bankrupt.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
gerstlaueringvar replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Then why do you love RMC so much, but you feel that they're unsafe? I don't think I mentioned not trusting RMC in this post I mean the two accidents made me not as fully trust on roller coasters as I was before they happened. But it had turned better as the trip went on. -
Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
gerstlaueringvar replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Little bit off topic but I have to admit, while I definitely trust most manufacturers about safety, NTaG and Shoot the Rapids accidents really had an impact on me. I used to leave a huge gap between my lap and the restraint to get more airtime, I completely stopped ever since that day. The first two coasters I rode since the accidents were Superman Krypton Coaster and Pandemonium, SKC's anti-rollback was scarily quiet and Pandemonium makes some finicky noise before the magnets starts working. I really was freaked out by both of them but I think I covered my fear pretty well.
