1.8G isn't too much I think, I's really happy that if the train ever rolls back, the magnet only needs to be designed according to the first banked turn's height which made it so much easier. I think part of the reason why manufacturers haven't break Gerstlauer's LSM limits is because the layout usually begins with the tallest hill. The magnetic brake section needs to be long enough to slow down the train during a rollback and it is unnecessary to have a super powerful launch and then let the train travel through a straight section. -

I've been to a couple of places that have these but didn't ride them. Chimelong Paradise had it when the park opened. During a morning test, the motor overshoot the car and the car broke the bumpers at the top of the tower. The amusement ride authorities of China ordered Chimelong to fix it and they need to reexaminate the structure. Chimelong just didn't feel like fixing it and let it stand there for a few years before they removed it. Here's a really crazy/funny/creepy fake legend about it: A girl's hair were caught into the wheels and her head was pulled off during the free fall. It's so widely spread that it influenced the ridership of drop towers nationwide in China, the Intamin free falls on top of Canton Tower even require riders with long hair to tie up their hair before riding! Discovery Kingdom also has one, but they run it every 20 minutes so I didn't feel like spending time there. -

No, Mack's lock-back mechanism is built into the car, the car connects to a circuit and spin back to the unloading/loading position itself. -

I originally thought the same thing, but apparently the Funtime towers are actually stinky poo-poo, thanks to a hold at the top, brakes that start pretty far up the tower, and the bulky Gerstlauer shoulder harnesses. EDIT: Here's an example of the one that's at Wien Prater (is it still there, anyone?). There's an earlier example floating around the funfair circuit, it drops and stops the same way but doesn't have the rotating seats. EDIT AGAIN: Am I crazy, or are there two towers named "Mega King Tower"? Who said they can't improve their product a bit? -

They could've bury it underground and put metal doors on top of the whole path to access the cable when they need to maintain or change it though. Does it have something to do with the climate I guess? -

^ Those are for the cable return though I don't understand why they chose to use a design that uses a lot more cable and puts a lot more stress on the lift hill, when the cable return can be under the lift like most cable lifts. -
