Those restraints are designed to lock you in place, including scenarios like stupid riders trying to use all of his/her strength to push up the restraints to see if it's working. And some people can easily lift/squad hundreds of pounds! Pretty sure Mack already went through the testing and the family coaster restraints can hold you safely during an inversion. Heck I bet even the restraint lock on Roller Skaters can perform enough on extreme coasters! -
It's a simple thread, talk about one or a few designs that you think are really innovative, of make you go "huh that's so smart, never thought about it like that!" Or "holy crap those engineers are insane". It doesn't have to be a whole ride, can be as little as a cleverly placed bolt or doesn't even have to be amusement ride related! I have to applaud for Imagineers here. Soarin's insane mechanical arms, Tower of Terror the whole thing, the 12-car multi-move on Journey, mastering animatronics and trackless system on Mystic Manor and Pooh, etc. Also something I've heard all about but never got to experience it, Alien Encounter. Disney is playing a different game than the rest of the industry! Spiderman by Universal is really innovative as well. As for little details, here are a few I really like: The moving drive tires on TTD, once the train slow to a certain speed the drive tire rises Sensors on the moving floors of B&M Dive Machines The moving boards that stable the cars on Falcon's Fury with all the circuits Gerstlauer's brush-like circuit/sensor at the station RMC welding track from pre-cut steel sheets Using magnet to control rotation/spinning on Falcon's Fury, 4D Free Spin, Mack's new spinning car Intamin putting hydraulic lock inside the back spine of the seats Click N Fix buckles

I'm pretty sure that's the big difference and what makes it suitable for inversions. In case of a failure it opens upward instead of forward, right? Um... RMC, Gerstlauer, Schwarzkopf, Intamin all did that. I don't think it matters. The trains on the video are 95% not for Lost Gravity because the color will look disgusting. -
New Wanda Parks in China.
gerstlaueringvar replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Or maybe it could be a combination of the ground condition and park request. KD requested fewer supports so i305 track has double spine almost all the way. SkyRush goes over a river, Comet and a kiddie area, it's much cheaper and practical to use double spine because the ground on the river bed and river side are relatively unstable for large amount of footers. For Formula Rossa and Flying Aces' high wind environment and desert condition, more supports means higher wind resistance so It's safer and cheaper to use double spine at higher spots. Flying Aces' lift structure used pipes instead of the SkyRush style I-Beam structure, probably due to high wind condition as well. But in China, these two coasters are in dry and flat land and there's no crazy desert environment, plus Wanda is one of the richest companies in the whole country. I guess the only extra issue Intamin need to consider might be the higher air resistance. -
Horrible Park Operations
gerstlaueringvar replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thunder Dolphin is the worst I've ever seen in my whole life. The line was 4 train long and they dispatch every 15 minutes. It was doing one train operation, they make you put down any potential loose article including watch and bracelet. We wanted to take front row so it was an extra half an hour wait for two trains. -

^ I don't really think it's spinning unless they are going for Space Fantasy style 2 cars per train or single car. -

Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?

There's a different between a train following the track very well and the insane force throwing you around and a train banging between the tracks and treat riders like maracas filler. -

Those three small parks were insanely fun! I think even Universal can learn from Cosmoworld's very well-done haunted walk-through with crazy animatronics. Blue Fall and Surf Coaster did not disappoint! Ocean Sun Fish is definitely one of the ugliest animals, Veil of Dark is something you've been looking forward to for so long and still got amazed by. Oh and the fish market! -

Could it be Mack's version of Euro Fighter/Infinity Coaster? Like 2-4 rows of 4 across seating cars. -

When enthusiasts feel like they are entitled to do whatever they want. My group of three waited half an hour extra for the front row of TTD. When I was sitting alone in the front row, an ACEr standing in the line for row 5 or 6 pushed 5 people in front of her and sat down next to me, without any permission from the ride operator. She acted like she won a trophy or something and kept talking about how much Mean Streak sucks during pretty much the whole ride. Honestly no GP, Taylor Swift songs, basketball, unhealthy food or Heads Up players has ever annoyed me so much.
