  1. It's official! I'm going there opening month!
  2. So far: Outlaw Run Twisted Colossus Goliath
  3. Is it just me or that Windseeker looks so funny that I want to laugh every time I see it?
  4. Thank you so much for posting this! The past year with TPED at Purdue has been truly incredible and we learned from each other a lot. We have so many exciting events coming up soon and we can't wait to share our experience with TPR! Please feel free to contact me at yin87@purdue.edu or any of our officers for more information about TPED and Purdue University!
  5. Not complaining about that music but I really think it's a bit too Kygo... Anyway I'm glad they put so much effort into the ride to make it outstanding. This is definitely one of the most interesting projects of the year.
  6. Would you rather have Storm Chaser there or nah?
  7. This happened yesterday: [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/kYsjXhaQq68[/youtu_be]
  8. Anton coasters are designed to last. I wouldn't be surprised if the train parts are in good condition after 40 years.
  9. Check out this thing! Looks like they have improved the Forbidden Journey system and made it more open air. Wonder where it will go this year? Link
  10. Regardless, it will work if they designed it like this. Or they put trim brakes on the drop, like a "fake drop" on Blue Fall, trim, and then big drop. Or they could probably do it multiple times. This could be Arrow's approach to the Intamin first gen drop tower.
  11. ^ Pretty sure Alan Schilke was one of thnbe best designers back then and he knows exactly what he's doing. With a speed that high, more energy would be lost for heat and both fraction and air resistance would get really high.
  12. LSM doesn't need to reset, let the catch car slowly attach to the train and lower the brake fins like hydraulic system. If they try hard to operate it efficiently it wouldn't be that much of a problem. Do they have separate loading and unloading station?
  13. Gerstlauer usually goes up really fast, Junker went up in one and a half months and that includes testing for the launch system.
  14. UKKO at Linnanmäki in Finland, in this video: If you pay attention in the start you can see the very rear wheels light up red partly, (they become different colours depending on speed) It's a fantastic effect considering the park is open quite commonly at times when it becomes dark outside That would be beautiful at night! Thanks for sharing!
  15. It's almost on every single Intamin since Millennium Force. Sometimes the two magnets move horizontally so the force of the brake massively decrease (B&M does this too), sometimes the brake fins retract vertically like on the accelerators (Gerstlauer does this too), and then lately the magnets are moving downwards following the side closer to the coming train because this system has the least moving parts and requires the least space and material. You can see that on SkyRush, Flying Aces and the Flying Over Europe at Romon U Park.
  16. One of these: I'm just curious which one installed those LED light wheels.
  17. ^ Could you try to add something other than these elements into such a tight footprint?
  18. Interesting project!
  19. My experience on Indiana Jones Advebture at Disneyland this past New Year's Eve: 1. Park opens, ran to Hyperspace Mountain to get FP, ran to Indy, ride is down. 2. 10:00 returned after we did a few rides, waited in line for 5 minutes, ride broke down, waited another 20 minutes, they told us to leave the line. 3. 4:00 returned, waited an hour, just about to enter the temple it broke down again, another 20 minutes, left the line. 4. 8:00 returned again, an hour later, we were literally at the same spot outside of the temple, broke down again, left the line but still held my belief that we will get to ride it that day. 5. 10:30, we have it a last try, the ride broke down AGAIN when we were in the outside queue. We waited another 10 minute and the ride finally opened, we finally got to ride it. 6. After the countdown at Fantasmic, we went back as the line was 25 minutes. Ride finally didn't break down but the audio had problem so the last 1/4 of the ride was silent until the stone ball scene.
  20. Yeah it was 75 degrees yesterday and I'm pretty sure Intamin designed it according to the 120 degrees heat in the summer. I still believe it will go much faster than this during summer.
