Oh man, that Wildcat! I almost forgot entirely about it. That was one of my first-ever coasters, too, I remember riding it when my aunt took my siblings and I one weekend. I remember on the same trip my aunt promising my younger sister (around 7-8 at the time) that she'd go on only one ride with her because she was terrified of them. My sister picked some mini Paratrooper ride they had at the time, and my aunt spent the entire ride clutching my sister tightly and practically cried in her lap until the ride stopped. Haha thanks for that, I totally forgot about that memory. Your understanding is also true, the Wildcat suffered too much damage during Sandy. Based on what I read online, it looks like Keansburg has had a much slower recovery from Sandy than other boardwalk parks in the area, maybe due to its location. Maybe one day it'll bounce back, but a lot is going to have to change in order to get there,

We used to go to Keansburg when I was really little and still living in the area, and it's gone downhill horrendously since then. Rikki and I were in the area again back when we were looking at wedding venues a few years back, and I asked if she'd be okay if we'd drive by as I hadn't been there in nearly two decades. We didn't even get out of the car; we saw how run down the place was from the road and decided to just keep on driving. Sorry to hear that your experience confirmed my assumptions.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

There are some pics and videos going around of the Free Spin track / supports that have showed up on site. Most interest thing is the color scheme, with the supports painted to look like bamboo. -

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
michaellynn4 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not used to Indiana Beach making reasonable, popular decisions. 2020 is truly the craziest year... -
I think it may be a Busch thing, too. The only versions of the Sky Rocket model I see with collars are the ones installed at Busch / Seaworld parks. Phobia up at Lake Compounce operates without the collars, and two installations over in China from a couple years ago also don't operate with them. Either way, having ridden models both with and without the collars, I also don't get them as they seemingly serve no purpose aside from the lower insurance costs rumor that keeps getting bantered about.

Adventureland (Iowa) Discussion Thread

I somehow completely missed that this was going to be a more compact model of the Free Spin. I like the look, and I agree that it looks like the more noticeable drops, dips, and tighter curves may mean for a more intense experience than some of the other models. -
I'm a sucker for the Zelda series, so I downloaded the demo for the upcoming Hyrule Warriors game in preparation of its upcoming release and plowed through that in an evening. I'm also going to cancel one of my other subscriptions so I can instead get access to Nintendo Online and the online free library of many old school NES and SNES games.

I went there years ago when in AC for Wheel of Fortune tryouts. I encountered the same single rider issue, but fortunately there was a group of two behind me who didn't mind me on the other side. I also remember it spinning like crazy, too! Didn't realize it was a prototype, that's kinda cool, I guess.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

Glad I rode these back when I visited a few years ago. Knoebels seems like a natural fit, but we'll see what ends up happening. -
I give them props for getting a unique flat ride, but the experience is ruined by an absolutely awful loading procedure and the insistence on running one of the most neutered program cycles I've ever seen. Guests have caught on, too, causing it to never having a line longer than maybe two cycles, if that. Nice try, but definitely a failed experiment, hampered more by Six Flags than the ride manufacturer.

What does your house look like for Halloween?
michaellynn4 replied to odie's topic in Random, Random, Random
First year in the new house, so wasn't sure what to expect. We followed proper protocols and set up a table outside with candy pieces separated so people could pick and choose without shoving their hands into a gross community bowl. I was setting up a new desk in my office by the front door, so I was planning on restocking as people would come by. Didn't have one trick-or-treater though. I saw a few out, but I suspect they only went to their neighbors and people in the neighborhood they were already familiar with to minimize contact. Oh well, more candy for me. -
Old school Enterprises were/are split seating, too. Usually you managed to avoid any awkward encounters with strangers, but when I was younger I was getting ready for a solo ride in a car on a busy day when the ride op asked if if this other young man (similar in age, if I had to guess) could ride with me, and before I could even mentally start calculating the ramifications, he was in the car in front of me and we started moving. I think he understood the awkwardness, too, and was trying to lean forward and pull himself towards the front of the car more during the ride. Still, definitely couldn't wait for THAT ride to be over.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
michaellynn4 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you want the Cincinnati chili experience but want to do something a little less "chain-y" like Skyline, go to Blue Ash Chili. Their Mason location is literally around the corner from Kings Island. We ate there last time we were through and were deeply satisfied. Recommendations: 6-Way, chili lasagna (trust me), and if they still have it, the Chili Philly (chili-covered Philly cheesesteak), but I didn't see it on the menu anymore just now. -

One underrated update that I'm LOVING is the new "Expand" option for quotes within posts. Gone are the days of having to scroll past huge quote dumps in order to get to the new comment. Makes it flow so much better! I'm really loving the updates! -
Still rocking an iPhone 7. Works just fine and accomplishes what I need on a daily basis, so no real reason to upgrade anytime soon.

Silverwood Discussion Thread

These are a boatload of fun and would be a perfect addition to Silverwood! Great news! -
I've always been more of a Nintendo guy, and am currently working my way through Super Mario Odyssey. It's a lot of fun, but I don't know if I'd put it on the same level as other 3D Marios like 64 or Galaxy. I'm also playing Overcooked 2 with the wife and am really digging it. It's cute, challenging in the right ways, and I really dig the multiplayer aspect. I'm trying to get my sister and brother hooked on it so we can all play together.
