  1. I anticipate having a relatively quiet 2017 as I'm tentatively planning on moving near the end of summer. However, here's what I have: Definitely: SFGAdv SFDK, CGA, and SCBB (visiting my sister in San Francisco) Probably: - Most Jersey Shore parks, including PCC, Casino Pier (shut up, I like it), Keansburg, and Jenks Anything else depends on where the wind takes me, kitten.
  2. Awesome photos! Glad you enjoyed the park. I had a lot of fun when I visited last year (still have all the photos on the phone for that trip report I never got around to writing lol). I agree with the Yankee Cannonball sentiments. Fun coaster, but wouldn't go out of my way to ride again. Thoroughly enjoyed Untamed, though!
  3. I didn't realize it was possible to fit that much butthurt into one video / thread. Seriously though, all it takes is five minutes in a comments thread like that (or most other forums) to make me really appreciate the weeding Robb and the other moderators do here.
  4. Since Rikki and I bought season passes this year to save money on our trip back in March, we decided to take another trip down in November while she has a break for the NJEA convention to experience their holiday event (and ride Lightning Rod). It's looking like we'll be there November 11th and 12th. I did some preliminary research on Dollywood's website as well as through past fall seasons on this forum, but does anyone have any advice on what I should look to accomplish in order to best experience this event?
  5. I don't care for any ride that requires a seat belt across two sides of a restraint, connecting them in the middle (see: X, Vekoma Flying Dutchmans). I see it as shoddy engineering and a sure sign of a painful experience.
  6. Welp, here come the nightmares again. So much for getting a decent night sleep...
  7. I grew up going to Seaside, so I'll always remain fond of it, even in its weakened post-Sandy-and-fire shape. My band used to always play at the various bars for quick, easy money. Love this news! It may be a s**thole, but it's MY s**thole.
  8. ^ I see where you're coming from, but that all seems to be issues with water parks in general and not specifically issues with Hurricane Harbor. My advice is based on the assumption that someone asking for an opinion on the park already enjoys the typical water park experience.
  9. *appears on other shoulder in an angel costume* Hurricane Harbor can be fun! Give it a shot!
  10. Yea, I'm bailing, too. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.
  11. Nope, I never feel bad about it. I'm "stealing" jack s**t from you. You hate it so badly, then go buy one yourself. Seriously, I've busted my ass enough in my career to now earn a pretty comfortable living, never having had anything handed to me in the process. I paid for college by myself, paid for grad school by myself, paid for my cars by myself, even paid off the $30K in debt I inherited from a deadbeat parent by myself. I'm at a point in my life where I make enough and live responsibly enough where I can comfortably decide to maximize the amount of fun I have at a park, and I'll be damned if anyone is going to tell me I need to feel bad because of that.
  12. I was so mad (jokingly) after riding the Looper! Rikki and I just couldn't seem to make it go the full way around! I felt like I had just done 100 crunches afterwards.
  13. I'll throw in one of those UAE cheetahs, too.
  14. This year, yes, on a relatively slow day. However, last year I went the last operating day of the season, on Labor Day. Park was packed, but it never felt overwhelming.
  15. Bleh. I hate the ocean. I'll take a poorly run, heavily-chlorinated water park any day. That said, I've had great experiences at Hurricane Harbor the last couple of times I've visited this year and last. Never had any issues with operations, and all of the complaints I have seen about HH on Facebook have been phenomenally stupid. Are you guys seeing things that I'm not?
  16. F***ing wife got a hold of my account again!!!! Damnit, Emily!!! Oh man, these are always some of my favorite posts. Well done, Emily!
  17. ^ I agree 100%. So open, so exposed, so wonderful. The first time I rode this coaster and sat down in the train, all I could keep thinking was "WHERE'S THE REST OF IT?!?!"
  18. you still haven't visited me in Philly. . Mmmmm... Lorenzo's.... ::drool::
  19. LMAO! Freaking McDonalds!!!! So gross lol. We ran into a last minute hiccup yesterday morning leaving us no time to sit and eat anywhere if we wanted to arrive by opening, so we stopped for drivethru and ate in the car (hence the salad for lunch). So lame. Thanks so much for your suggestions though, I will check them out at some point! And yeah, my restraint was not tight and he did not staple me in. My buddy got off and called it the "nutcrusher" which was a problem I didnt have since when we flipped and I had that moment I was upside down and my chest/shoulders were thrown into the restraint. Did you make it up yesterday? I totally spaced and forgot to text you. Haha ugh, sorry to hear about the breakfast situation. If you're ever in Cherry Hill, I highly recommend Amy's. And no, I ended up taking it easy this past weekend and stayed home. Glad you had fun though!
  20. Great pics! Glad you had fun and enjoyed Joker. I quickly learned after my first ride that it's key that your restraints are snug so you don't have an experience like you described. So where'd you decide to eat breakfast?
  21. QFT I read your comment before reading the article, so I expected a strong CF presence, but good Lord!
  22. Those weekend crowds in September are notoriously some of the busiest of the year. I'm talking 45 minute-long lines for the swinging ship ride. If you're committed to that date, Flash Pass is key for a tolerable experience.
  23. While GL is far down the list of my preferred coasters at Great Adventure, I will say that my favorite part on it is the curve and slight dip into the second corkscrew.
