  1. In related "future expansion" news, the new images from Google Maps show the initial stages of the re-routing of Park Blvd. It really helps one visualize the amount of land the park would have available to it should it choose to expand beyond its current footprint, which it has hinted at wanting to do. Ahh, possibilities...
  2. ^ SFOG has a very well-rounded coaster lineup. If they do get a coaster within the next couple of years, based on recent trends it'll be an RMC conversion of one of the park's woodies or the same version of the S&S 4D that SFFT and SFGAdv received. Hope all you want for the larger model, but if SFGAdv didn't get it, SFOG certainly won't, either.
  3. Anyone see the video of the "flooding" that occurred at Great Adventure a few days ago? A good portion of Adventure Alley was in ankle-to-knee high water. I say "flooding" because Knoebels laughs at this and says enjoy splashing in your new puddle.
  4. People are reading FAR too into this "never been done" business. This is the same park that marketed an indoor spinning family coaster as the "world's first glowcoaster", after all. It's a solid addition that'll be a great ride for many of the parkgoers, especially families. Can't that be good enough?
  5. This may not exactly rev my engines personally, but this is a great addition for the park and perfect for its target audience: families. It'll be interesting to see the skyline change!
  6. I've never ridden the flume at KD, is it really that good?
  7. Ride Thunderhead at Dollywood. You'll change your mind. And if you end up not liking Thunderhead then, well, there's just no helping you.
  8. Please, please, please let it now be called Splinter Cat. It would seriously make my day to watch everyone's heads spin.
  9. Went to the park for a couple hours yesterday afternoon to walk around. Hurricane Harbor was definitely slammed (as expected), but the main park wasn't as bad as I expected. Sure, it was busy, but overall lines seemed pretty manageable. I got on El Toro after only waiting fifteen minutes, and that was mostly due to a protein spill delay. As great as that coaster is normally, it really shines when temperatures are at their hottest. We FLEW through the course - one of the best rides I've had on it in a while.
  10. ^ Truth. Great Adventure is far from perfect (*cough* Bizarro *cough*), but it has the best, most consistent operations of any of the SF parks I've been to.
  11. The legendary "Great Adventure Bubble" is real. Terrible storms that come through the area always seem to bypass the park. Even if it does rain, the park has one of the most lenient weather policies in the country. Short of a tornado or some other act of God, you should be fine.
  12. ^ I'm not sure about all of those, but Wendy's also has many coupons, both in-store and on their bags. Their discounts are $12 off.
  13. Haha, great report. I meant to do more pointing in my photographs going forward. I need to remember that. Personal notes: - Vortex is just godawful. Hated it when I was there. This is from someone who great up with GASM at SFGAdv, too. - Adventure Express is one of the best mine trains I've been on, but I wish it ended less anti-climatically. Maybe if I think of that last-second lift hill as a brake run, I'd feel differently.
  14. He works there, dude. I'm sure he knows something.
  15. Funny you should say that. I remember not outright hating Hurler when I rode it in 2014, and now that I think about it, I'd probably attribute it to riding in the front row. Definitely elevated the experience to "moderately forgettable".
  16. Yea, it's always too similar to school cafeteria pizza to me. You want good pizza near Dollywood? Go to Pizza Palace in Knoxville. It really compares well to much of the stuff we have in the NYC/Jersey/Philly regions.
  17. It was down for scheduled maintenance. This is from park workers from other forums. Should be back up soon.
  18. Totally agree, but now I'm curious to see if other Cedar Fair parks are offering it yet and, if so, what the price points are. $99 is still $99 too much for Dorney, but that'd be a major steal at many of their other parks.
  19. It would certainly make the ride more tolerable, but I don't see that in the future for Vortex.
  20. I posted a quick trip report a page ago, but here are some photos. Mind you I played Pokemon Go most of the time. A very random use of wood. Hit the gong, win a prize. That simple. Gong Fu is now in operation. The sounds of silence. This isn't right, either. Well this isn't right.
  21. For those who haven't seen the new, full-operational Caribbean Cove play center at Hurricane Harbor, here's a photo (courtesy of GreatAdventureHistory):
  22. I was over by Batman around 3PM. They weren't doing the "wait in shade" thing when I was in line for Joker, but I'm glad they eventually implemented it. Makes sense why - they're working to keep the amount of wait time in the hot July sun to a minimum. I agree with the double-stacking - was a big problem on Nitro. However, I can't blame the ride-ops, they weren't slacking in my eyes. What held up each train were, as Jcoaster said, entitled assholes. Every train had at least one moron who had their phone out or tried to ride with a loose article in their lap (bag, purse, etc). On top of that, there seemed to be at least one rider per train, if not more, who needed extra help fitting into the restraints. The two trains in front of us waiting to get back into the station each had two walk of shames, and Nitro is normally a pretty forgiving ride. That doesn't even count the ones who fit after a few shoves. Never has the Great Fattening of America been on more prominent display. I only rode El Toro, Joker, Nitro, and the Sky Ride. Other than the issues with Nitro (which I hold the general public more accountable for than ride ops), I had no real complaints.
