*BGW management weeps gently, wondering what Drachen Fire could have been if it was built by B&M.* I'm waiting for B&M to make a re-imagined Drachen Fire for BGW. Could be a wing coaster with a few changes like the dive loop drops and no MCBR so early in the ride. -

Im shocked they got rid of hydroblaster. The one at MIA is popular and fun! MIA has little to offer so of course it would be. -

Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread
RCF replied to MagnumForce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Watch it be a relocated spinner. To be honest, I think it would be a small thrill ride instead of a Disk'O Coaster. Maybe an Air Race would fit. One can dream, right? -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
RCF replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As a local, neither will I. A centerpiece attraction like Cannibal I think can't hurt the skyline from the highway especially if you're supposed to watch the road. Once in the park, being able to see the "back" of the Skyscraper would offer some very nice photo ops with it around the Cannibal line and/or plaza ( ), as well as amazing photo ops around Cannibal. -
To add, it seems many new high-thrill flat rides adds several motions of spinning to another ride like it in the park. If a park has a Top Scan, they aren't going to go for a Top Scan that can also tilt. Nowadays, that's what I have been seeing when it comes to the wide-variety of flats. A booster is a flipping version of a breakdance, which spins more than a scrambler.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
RCF replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know what I don't understand? Six Flags started two compact coasters which would be cheap to install, yet none have been added to any other Six Flags, let alone this one which could use either. Granted, Batman hasn't been made yet, but the Superman one has been around for two years now, with no other addition. I also hate how their isn't a product line name for the Superman/Sky Scream clones. Not that it's really needed, but it would help as people wonder which Superman: Ultimate Flight clones we are talking about. -

The tower sections look exactly like the rendering, as well as the supports already up for the station and dive loop. Lagoon is going for an African/Tribal theme since they bought the old lions at auction that were in front of the Capitol Building. -

RCF replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It actually already does. If you look at the sides of the tower, they have "spikes" poking out. What Lagoon is doing with having theming aspects already fabricated into every support is a very nice touch. I prefer a brown tower with this kind of theming than a larger cement tower at Hansa. The north side of Lagoon was the main priority for additions after Wicked was installed on the south side. Now, with all the new additions and Cannibal, the south side seems to lack even with most of the coasters on that side. Hopefully they add a new thrilling flat ride on that side of the park after this. It would help round out that side. Can't see them putting a new ride where it's needed, though. A branding of any ride isn't a bad thing. Plus, to make something better is not a Six Flaggish thing when it's making a B&M better. -

You know the dark ride is a good addition for families, it's just not their time yet. I hope it's soon, but no hope yet. I just wish Six Flags is like Carowinds (just a year off) and get something good for 2016 (RMC of Boss.) At least this place is nowhere near La Ronde or Great Escape. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
RCF replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That looks unbelievably ugly as well. Happy now? Funny... I believe most of the complaints come from the placement right in front of the Skyscraper (Ferris wheel) to the highway. As I do agree the placement was wrong, I believe if they just flipped the layout for the tower to be on the other side would be better. That way the Ferris wheel would be slightly more open to the highway or where else you would see it, and the tower would not feel like it's scrunched in with all the other tall rides and give it it's own part of the Skyline at Lagoon. If that makes sense. -

What I don't understand is a themed, elevator lift building is ugly yet a bigger cement tower at Hansa has yet to be considered ugly. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
RCF replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know that a modern B&M design ends up being better than a B&M design from 1994. Bigger? Probably. I enjoy Mantis, and while I'm in the minority on that, the complaints are overwhelmingly aimed at the type of train currently on it's track. This 2015 addition feels like (to me) an in-between major expansion kind of addition. Gatekeeper in 2013, and Mantis facelift in 2015 to hold people over for a bigger coaster project in 2016. Just a guess. With the biggest coaster coming in 2016 to be from Valleyfair, and it won't be as big as say Banshee or Fury 325, Cedar Point might be in for something in 2016. However, I believe making an existing coaster better can work the magic long enough to hold Cedar Point back for a few more years as Cedar Fair focus on the more neglected parks. -
So you want so many people to boycott Revolution for its OTSRs that SFMM would remove it due to its unpopularity? I wasn't serious with my original post, but this made me cringe. You seriously think that magic mountain would answer a boycott on a ride because of it's restraint system by removing the ride!? What kind of A$$ backwards logic is that? The idea is to improve the service not get rid of it. Especially when the ride is a staple in roller coaster history and makes for a beautiful sight when you enter the park. I can see them removing something like Scream or Green Lantern due to popularity issues. But I can't imagine ANY park removing ANY ride because people are vocal about it's freaking restraint system. I love you. Um, if ridership goes down, the ride gets removed. That's... that's generally how it works. Nobody is paying to go on the ride, your boycott would mean nothing to them. A boycott is the wrong way to grab attention for this situation. The biggest way is if they get a SURGE of people wanting the OSTRs gone, then hopefully they would look at it. A petition could be a good idea, there are more pointless petitions running around lately.

I'm pretty sure Shavethewhales is aware of that. SLC is probably the most isolated city in America, though. Like I've said many times it's a 6-hour drive from Vegas, the closest major city. Yeah, the metropolitan area is pretty large (Provo through Logan) but once you're out of that area there's really nothing for HOURS in any direction. But we have quite a bit to offer for an isolated city. If timed right, you can go to Lagoon, Hogle Zoo, Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, any of our museums, on a hike, ski, waterski, EASILY get to be an extra in a movie, ice skate, mountain bike, cave dwelling the Tipanagos Cave, and shop. The only thing missing would be our water parks, unless its crazy weather again (that is pretty common) and we still have one of our ski resorts open in May. We have enough to justify a whole week trip to Utah without the regular sight seeing and figuring out our Mormon history. That itself you can find ANYWHERE in Utah. The best part is how slow news gets to Utah! You won't know about what's happening now until a week later! -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
RCF replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Dominion is overdue for a new coaster, while Canada's Wonderland and Cedar Point are not. The last coaster Kings Dominion recieved was Intiminator 305 in 2010, which is five years straight without a new coaster. Canada's Wonderland recieved Leviathan in 2012, which is only three years without a MAJOR new coaster, and Cedar Point recieved Gatekeeper in 2013, which is only two years without a MAJOR new coaster. The 2015 attraction at Cedar Point probaly won't be a MAJOR new coaster, but rather the rumored transformation of Mantis into a floorless coaster. Also, every other former Parmount Park will have by next year recieved a MAJOR new coaster since Kings Dominion recieved Intiminator 305 in 2010. Canada's Wonderland recieved Leviathan in 2012, Kings Island recieved Banshee in 2014, Carowinds will recieve Fury 325 next year for 2015, and Californa's Great America recieved Goldstriker in 2013. So I think 2016 will be Kings Dominion's year to shine. 5 years is not a long time after a coaster, ESPECIALLY a giga. Their are other parks in the chain that have gone longer without one. Michigan's Adventure, Worlds of Fun, Dorney, and Valleyfair. It's already been made clear that Valleyfair will most likely receive one in 2016, and the parks I listed are in much more of a dire need for a new major coaster, not King's Dominion. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread

It might actually be! Nothing official has been said about it, but one inversion was talked about, and not shown in the released renderings. So Lagoon could have messed up. To add on, with the already announced inversions, and the two heartline rolls, we could actually be seeing four or five inversions instead of three. Just have no idea until the coaster is put together. -

RCF replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's the reason why people are saying this ride will have four inversions instead of three. No idea though, as I guess they are keeping much of the coaster a surprise. However, nothing is being done inside the elevator lift. It will only tilt from one side to the other like Divertical. -

It actually won't be. Hansa Park is building a beyond vertical drop at 235 (ish?) ft.Will of be steeper than 116 Degrees? I thought Hansa's new coaster would have a beyond vertical drop, but it's only saying vertical. I guess we do take a world record! EDIT: I just updated my information post with some renderings of the ride and a clear view of the water feature. It doesn't show everything as they have a part they want to keep a surprise, but I noticed what is a barrel roll into another barrel roll rotating the other way. I have not seen any information on it, as nothing was released about this element, but it's interesting to say the least. Also, wouldn't it bring the inversion count to 4? I still don't see the 140 ft. "Inverted loop" which was released, and the dive loop is shown, so that's already two and these barrel rolls look to be two more inversions. -
