  1. I liked Firehawk. The flying seats were interesting and different, and it was really relaxing climbing to the top of the lift with your eyes closed. I liked it better than the B&M flyers I've been on. That said, I'm not shedding a tear about it going either. Kings Island has steadily made progress and built new and innovative rides. There will be something good to take its place, may take a few years though. I'm not itching for a new coaster here, tbh. They have a really great lineup as it is.
  2. Animal Kingdom and Trader Sam's! Best day ever? You all look like you're having fun, and that's what this is all about.
  3. I agree with you on Nor'Easter, but Sea Serpent sucks just as hard as all the rest. Boomerangs aren't worth it. Even if you manage to find one that isn't completely terrible, it's still time you could have spent riding something good. I could have ridden Boomerang at WCB 2016, they had ERT on it, but I spent ERT on Xcellerator instead. Zero regrets.
  4. Awesome report! Will definitely have to visit this place whenever I eventually get to England.
  5. Oh sh*t man, that's no good at all. They moved Brews and BBQ later too, maybe they're having problems staffing early season events like that. If anyone I don't know ever tries that, I'm calling park security. That's seriously uncool behaviour.
  6. Nice! We really do have a great zoo. Fitz's, BBQ, check (both kinda touristy, but still good). Glad you got in on City Museum while it was still independent. If you come back around these parts, check out Bogart's on the south side. I like their ribs better. People say good things about Adam's too, bit sweet for me but it's popular and less touristy than Pappy's.
  7. It's not necessary because Silicon Valley is way more full of hot air than San Antonio.
  8. Awesome photos. This has gotten me really excited to get back there this year.
  9. Best frisbee ride ever? I know, right? Nobody's in danger as long as the restraints are good, so enjoy it!
  10. Yeah, good move. I have the same setup at work, so I end up taking a couple of trips usually. Others are correct about TTD. Ride Corkscrew last; it's the only genuinely bad coaster there. Also, you can't ride Wilderness Run unless you have a child with you.
  11. Even so, you have to actually get enough people in the park to form a line of that length, so hundreds of Chicagoans were unfazed by winter (which is completely unsurprising if you've ever met a Chicagoan--they talk about snow like Texans talk about secession).
  12. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Twisted Colossus Space Mountain Flying Turns 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? 9: Silver Dollar City Six Flags St. Louis Worlds of Fun Kings Island Cedar Point Kennywood Waldameer Conneaut Lake Park Indiana Beach 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? Cedar Point 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? Steel Vengeance 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018? Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. Didn't expect much from it, and it was awesome. 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018? The new skillets at SDC. So good I forgot to write about Time Traveler. 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson? Time Traveler 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. Sea World!!! 9. Best ride themed to a bird? Phoenix 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018? Garfield's Nightmare at Kennywood. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride) Nemesis 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to? The Millennium Falcon ride at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Six Flags Great America 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... Dueling Dragons (hey, if we're using magic, it's back and it's dueling) 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Winterfest. So much more to do there even with fewer rides. 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? Mystic Timbers, because it caused more enthusiast butthurt. 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? St. Louis on January 1. 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. Intamin 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. Dominion. Not been there yet, but i305 and Twisted Timbers really don't have a match at KI. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018? Over an hour for Turtle at Kennywood. 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other? Thunderation. Helped that it was the only big coaster at my home park from the ages of 8 to 14. 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet? Atmosfear at Morey's. The onboard sound is great. 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more) Millennium Force 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Log flumes 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Eating cinnamon bread and skillets Watching shows, especially at Christmas Taking the cave tour 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why? Kings Island. The atmosphere is fantastic, there's a lot to do but not so much it's overwhelming, they put a lot of effort into shows and entertainment, and it's always a fun, relaxing day. (#1 is Knott's btw) 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. Easy. Silver Dollar City. Cinnamon bread and cave tours. 28. Launch or Lift? Launch! 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? Yes, at Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Kennywood 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster? That I've ever been on, Rattler. That still exists, Wolverine Wildcat 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Cult. I love Disney Parks, but those people genuinely scare me. 32. Best Batman themed ride? The OG Batman: The Ride. Still love the themed queue, really builds up the story. Entering the station has this sense of wonder about it even after all these years. 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. A smile. (I know, that was sappy) 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you) Outlaw Run 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? Bugs on Millennium Force. 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. Yes, because it pisses enthusiasts off to say it. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Nah. Never bought one. 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? Batman: The Ride at Six Flags St. Louis 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose? Churros 40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!) I don't actually have any. The last one I bought was riding Timber Mountain Log Ride with Robb at WCB 2016.
  13. That's smart. Availability for July should still be pretty good right now.
  14. I'm a similar distance from Cedar Point as you are (just in the other direction), so I'd suggest early June. I've had good luck then with crowds. You'll be able to do everything unless something breaks, and Fast Lane won't be strictly necessary (though it is always nice to have at Cedar Point). Even if you don't want to spend the money, have the money for Fast Lane anyway. You don't want to travel hundreds of miles just to stand in lines all day. Best case scenario, Fast Lane money becomes beer money! (or souvenir money or whatever you like to do).
  15. I'm so glad I came into the Busch Gardens Tampa thread for that enlightening discussion of Six Flags. Tigris is looking good! I still have yet to ride one of those Sky Rockets (why are they all on the coasts?), but I'm enjoying seeing the progress.
  16. What a fun TR! You're doing it right so far, can't wait to see what's next!
  17. I was talking vs AirBnB. . . you get a lot of the same benefits at Breaker's Express as you do with Hotel Breakers (other than the closeness/convenience). someone asked earlier, and I didn't see an answer - does the Express offer shuttle service to the park? if they do then it's just as easy to get back to the hotel by hopping on a shuttle. Since they have shuttle service around the peninsula, it would be surprising if they don't offer that, but i don't know, so asking. No shuttle. https://www.cedarpoint.com/stay/cedar-point-express-hotel
  18. Serengeti - Kaleidoscope [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  19. Looks like SFStL is going to the Strickers Grove model for next year. According to their 2019 calendar that is really on their real website right now, they're open on June 20 and July 3. https://www.sixflags.com/stlouis/plan-your-visit/park-operating-schedule Go look at it right now before they fix this.
  20. Silver Dollar City opens earliest of the parks around here, so probably that one.
  21. Wow, that's unexpected and great. Very fun infomercial of a ride, reminds me a lot of the one at Hershey.
