Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I really want them to name it Ziz. The Canada's Wonderland thread would be very entertaining right after that. -
Our local fair has the weirdest price for tickets. It's 80 cents per ticket, and most rides cost 3-4 tickets. So you end up paying either $2.40 or $3.20 per ride. That's on top of the admission price of $12 adult/$4 child. They sell one day wristbands for $25 that include admission, so that's what everyone buys. If you ride 4 things, you've already hit that price. Wade Shows is the rides operator, and they usually bring about 50 rides, so it's not a bad deal, really. But much like Six Flags tickets, if you're paying gate prices, you're not doing it right. Discount fair tickets are in all the grocery stores, and many employers get special deals. Last year I took my oldest daughter, and by buying the tickets through my work, we paid $5 parking, $6 for me, and $2 for her, and we both had ride wristbands. That was a good day.

Game: When was the last time you...

September 11, the morning after the Six Flags day of WCB. Too many coasters will do that. When was the last time you flossed your teeth? -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

First off, cool video! It's clear that you put a lot of love into it, and it makes me want to head straight to my car and drive to CP. Your description of Magnum's transitions made me laugh hard. It's very true, though I've still adored *some* rides on Magnum. It does have magic -- and not just nostalgia -- but I don't reliably know how or when it decides to show it. Even with row recommendations and seat belt tightening, I can never tell what kind of ride I'm going to get. Magnum can be boring, clunky, and sometimes painful, or unexpectedly smooth and one of my favorite coasters in the park. I haven't been to CP in many years, but I do remember Magnum fondly. It's such a wild, out of control and nearly unpredictable ride. It had a special charm that I feel that the Morgan hypers don't really have. I loved Magnum when I went this past spring. In fact, I would rank the top 3 there in the very unusual order of Millennium Force, Magnum, then Maverick. Mamba at Worlds of Fun was my first hyper, and the coaster that got me into coasters. When I rode Magnum, I thought that it had everything I loved about Mamba, just amplified. Magnum is an amazing coaster and doesn't get as much respect as it deserves. -

And I thought I was always prepping too far in advance, lol! Good for you, Andrew! You can never prepare too far in advance. That's how you get the good deals. I'm really excited for it. With Silver Dollar City as my home park, I know it'll be a good time. Setting aside 3 days for it, and with the Time Saver passes too, there won't be any speedwalking necessary this time! -
Announcing "Skyline Attractions"
ytterbiumanalyst replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm not wild about the name Skywarp, but let's remember Storm Chaser, a kick-ass ride with a really crappy, bafflingly low quality announcement video. One would hope marketing efforts would be better than this, but the ride itself might be pretty good. -

Where Are You Going in 2017?

Sorry to hear that. I've been there, back in 2011. It's pretty rough. Hope she's able to find something quickly. -

You were in first class! There are upgraded bedrooms, but Amtrak considers everything from a roomette and up to be first class accommodations. Hence the treatment! I've had some really good food in the dining car on the Texas Eagle (Chicago-San Antonio train). If you get one with a real diner and not just the cafe car, it's great. Cafe car is just pre-packaged microwave stuff. I would like to do an Amtrak overnight trip one of these days, but the only place the train goes that's convenient from here is Chicago. I had hoped back in 2010 that since there was so much talk of expanding the system that we might get better service, but as usual, politics got in the way. Still, Amtrak continues to make do with what they have, and I think for as little as their budget is, they do a pretty good job.

What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
ytterbiumanalyst replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Great America's, my personal favorite wooden coaster I loved Goliath at SFGAm, best ride in that park by a mile. If you liked it, you need to go ride some more RMC's. There are plenty near Chicago, including Lightning Rod at Dollywood, Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom, and my personal favourite wooden coaster, Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City. -
