Ah, oh well. It absolutely is worth seeing. One day is not enough to see everything, but you can get to the major works easily enough. There are maps that will point them out. I spent most of the day in the Spanish, French, and Italian Renaissance rooms, then went down to the basement for the Egyptian artefacts. I feel good about that, but honestly I saw about 20% of the museum. -
Well, I've got 3 kids, and don't plan on having any more, so we're in the clear there.... But this really echoes what people had said about Riddler's Revenge. I rode it as you said, standing above the seat, and it was pain-free. There was certainly pressure on my legs, but that's not the same as pain. Sounds like if ridden correctly, Green Lantern can be fun, so I think I'll give it a shot. I don't expect anything mind blowing, but it's different from the normal experience, and that's worth it to me.

Awesome, thanks so much! This sounds like a well thought out plan and a good use of Flash Pass. Parachutes, Zumanjaro, Houdini, and Skyway were the four flats I knew about, and it sounds like nothing else is notable. I'm on the fence about Green Lantern. I did really like Riddler's Revenge at Magic Mountain, and if I like a ride type I usually want to try another of the same type. But it's the only stand-up I've ever ridden, and that for the first time just over two weeks ago, so I really don't have any experience to draw from here. I skipped Green Lantern at Magic Mountain because I heard it's just awful, and I may want to do the same at Great Adventure. I'm no completionist; If I don't think I'll have fun on a given ride, I'll skip it. I do plan to ride Kingda Ka in the front row. I waited an extra half hour for the front row on TTD, twice, and it was well worth the wait. You seem to indicate that Batman's front row queue is a similar wait to the rest of the train, and that sounds awesome to me. Batman at SFStL was my first inverting coaster in 1995, and I've ridden it a bunch, but I will always go on it when I'm at any Six Flags. I usually don't go on the front row because it's always about twice as long as any other row (for that reason, I ride Batman most often in the back). And yes, I will ride Boldikus Mountain in the very back row. I'm anticipating my cult initiation.

How much do you use Twitter?
ytterbiumanalyst replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is pretty much my use of it too. I don't have an account, but when an event is going on, and I know there will be Twitter posts throughout the event, I'll check it periodically. I checked Twitter during West Coast Bash, and during Kansas City's Planet Comic-Con. Outside of events like those, I don't use it at all. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread
ytterbiumanalyst replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If they shut rides down for low crowd's, half the rides would be shut down at Dollywood this time of year.. They may have shut it down for a scheduled maintenance and chose that day DUE to the low crowd's though.. that's possible I guess but we are in for hard times if Dollywood is now deciding to close rides due to low attendance That doesn't seem likely to me. Dollywood isn’t in daily operations anymore, so if they had a scheduled maintenance, they would have done it on a day they're cloaed. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

I need some planning help. I'm looking at going to Great Adventure next August, probably on a weekday. I really want to do the safari. It's still iffy on how much time I'll be able to take off work, but I may only have one day to spend at Great Adventure. If I get the Platinum pass, is it possible to do all the coasters, all the water rides, and notable flats like the parachutes in one day, while also doing the safari? I'd love to spend two days at Hershey, Knoebels, and here, but let's face it, if I have to remove one day from one of these parks, this one's going to get the cut first.

Yesterday we went to Silver Dollar City for my wife's company picnic. She works for Mercy Health Systems, which is the Ozarks' largest health care provider. This was a huge gathering, and there were a lot of people there. We had an hour of ERT in the morning and 4 hours in the evening, in addition to various shops and restaurants extending hours as well. We had other obligations in the morning, so we arrived around 3. This made the strategy much different than usual. We went first to Thunderation, as the queue is generally short late in the day, and we arrived 3 hours before closing. Sure enough, it was a walk-on! Then we went to the Grand Expo for a few rides, and on to Fireman's Landing, as the children's areas would be closing some attractions with the park at 6. Once we finished with those, it was about 5:30, so we went to the Mill restaurant for dinner. I correctly surmised that right before the park closed to the public would be a slow time for the restaurants, so we got right in with no wait. Good fried chicken as always, and we got a special discount as part of the Mercy Day festivities. When we had finished eating, the park had closed, so we split up. My wife took the girls shopping, while my son and I headed for Outlaw Run. He just hit 48" earlier this summer, so the wristband from the Grand Expo really helped speed things up, as the ride ops didn't have to re-measure him. We rode 3 times in a row, in the space of 20 minutes. At this point we caught up with the girls and headed for Sullivan's Mill. It would only be open until 7, so we had a deadline. We got our cinnamon bread, and they threw in 2 cups of coffee for free! We were one of the last customers, so they would have thrown it out anyway. That's hospitality! The cinnamon bread was, as usual, greater than Paul McCartney leading a unicorn orchestra in "Blackbird" while dragons fly overhead and skywrite "Merry Christmas" with their fire breath. I especially love that this year, the eating of cinnamon bread is accompanied by angels singing Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus." Nice touch, HFE. Well done. My son's birthday is coming up this week, so throughout the day we were able to get several gifts from the park. I've never experienced this before, and I'm not sure if it's new, or we just never knew about it. He got a pin and taffy from the general store, peanut brittle from Brown's Candy Factory, and popcorn from the stand by the Frisco Barn--all for free! He was also entitled to an ice cream cone from the parlour on the square, but he's dairy intolerant, so we had to skip that. Still, that was an unexpected surprise that really made an already great day that much better. Since I'm sure some SDC people read this thread, thank you so much for another great Mercy event! It was super fun all around, all the ride ops were great, we hardly had any waits during ERT, and all the shop and food staff were phenomenal as well. Everyone went far beyond what was necessary and far beyond our expectations to make our day great. Everything about that day reminded me of just why Silver Dollar City is one of the best theme parks in the country. Riding off into the sunset. Cinnamon bread...after dark.

Yes, any time of the day! Have you discovered the Higgs-Boson particle?

Paris is an amazing city. I spent three days there in 2009 getting the whirlwind tour, and it wasn't enough time at all. Looks like you got to see most of the important sights. Did you spend any time at the Louvre? That's the single greatest museum I've ever been to. -
^ That's really cool. Not a lot of parks do photo ops anymore. Knott's is a really special place, and apparently has been for a while! I heard some people saying that Magic Mountain was hot and that the topography is challenging. I guess it's a matter of what you're used to. I'm used to hills like that everywhere and weather equally as hot but also very hunid. So I was loving the California weather all week.

Actually, it's been a long time. I get most of mine through Playstation Plus now. When was the last time you said "TGIF"?
