Rank Your Home Park's Coasters

^ I pretty much agree. I think I'd swap AT and Boss, but otherwise, that's about how I feel. -
Have you seen Doctor Strange?

Awesome! I didn't realize you worked in the industry. This is a really cool idea, and I think it will fill an important space that currently isn't being served by the boardwalk and pleasure pier--and importantly, a space that is different from Grand Texas as well, so that whatever happens with that development won't really encroach too much on Adventure Pointe. I'm pulling for both you and Grand Texas. Houston needs both, and can sustain both as well.

No, that's an opinion, not a fact. Opinions cannot ever be proven. And we can talk peak times and peak directions too, which obviously make a huge difference. But to bring this back to what's relevant, anyone going to Magic Mountain will be going away from LA in the morning and back toward it in the evening. Traffic won't be a concern. Give yourself 2 hours to get there, and you're good.

We apparently have very different ideas of nightmares. LA is one of the easiest cities to get around by car of any I've been to. Sure, there are a lot of cars, but for the most part everyone knows where they're going and pays attention. I'll take it over Dallas, Boston, D.C., or Chicago. The latter three are pretty much "use transit or you're screwed"--while Dallas is simply "You're screwed." Anyway, KBF Hotel was on my short list, but I also wasn't planning to visit only MM, and I wanted a good central location. I'm sure there are some good ones up Santa Clarita way that are similar in quality and price.

Diddy Kong. DKC was one of the best games on the SNES, and was a real leap forward into 3D modeling technology. Rare made some of the very best SNES and N64 games. Oculus or Playstation VR?

You probably came while we we're trying to hit the theoretical max number of cycles for an hour, which is 36 trains. We got to 32 trains with 5 minutes left in the hour and then we basically broke the ride. Then we just stuck with one train for the rest due to the lack of guests in the park. 32 dispatches in 55 minutes. Holy crap that's amazing. Congratulations to you and your crew!

What I would do is to budget for Platinum Flash Pass one day. From my experience, the rides that are on the Flash Pass are basically the ones that get long lines. Otherwise, you can really get right on just about anything. All this is assuming you're going on weekdays, and also assumes no SRL and 1 reservation limit for Joker. Day 1: Go to Goliath first, immediately, before getting your Flash Pass. Use Single Rider Line, immediately board. Then go get your Flash Pass, observe queue time for Justice League (remember to multiply by 10 to get standby queue time). If it's short, then reserve Raging Bull and go standby for Justice League. If it's long already, then be very glad you have the Flash Pass because this day is going to be extremely crowded. Just proceed around the park in some reasonable order and remember to reserve your next ride immediately after they scan the last one. Obviously there's no way to know queue lengths for Joker yet, but expect long waits there. You may want to standby for Little Dipper while your Qbot waits for Joker. It's very much worth it, and the queue can get to 30-45 minutes on busy days. Day 2: If any high profile rides were down the day before, go to them first, especially Joker, Goliath, Superman, or Justice League. If you got to ride everything yesterday, awesome! In that case, go to Joker first then Goliath SRL. Ride any non-Flash Pass rides you want; they have lots of flats. Once you're good there, hit the waterpark; it's really fantastic. Hope that helps.

A lot of this is going to depend on exactly when you go, but it can be done for significantly less than $3,000. Look into Spirit. I flew them from MCI-LAX for $340 round trip. Looking into itineraries BOS-LAX, it looks like you can get it for around $400pp round trip. Also, don't get 2 day tickets to Magic Mountain; go get a season pass to SFNE for around $65pp; it's good at all Six Flags, including Magic Mountain, and includes parking too. Flash Pass is expensive, and no way to make that cheaper, but yeah, you're going to want it. As for hotels, Knott's Berry Farm Hotel is one of the best deals in LA. They're reasonably priced at around $120 or so per night, and they have all the major amenities. Depending on who you're going with, you may look at hostelling. There are hostels for around $30 per bed per night. That's what I did, and if all you want is a place to crash, then no sense in paying for stuff you're not going to use. As for car rental, it's cheap. I rented a compact from Alamo for 5 days for around $75. So here's your breakdown: Flight - $800 Six Flags season pass - $130 Gold Flash Pass - $360 Beverage bottle - $25 Hotel (3 nights) - $360 (or hostel for $180) Car rental - $50 Total - $1725.

They make money in two ways: Because the food doesn't cost that much to begin with, their profit margin per burger, drink, or chicken strip might be lower but they are making money. For example: that $5.00 coke only costs $0.25, your $12.00 meal only costs the park $3.00, that $7 funnel cake costs the park only $0.75. The park's overhead in the form of salary and utilities does not change whether you use the meal pass or pay full price. Not everyone that buys the pass ends up making as many trips to the park the they planned. While you might only need to eat 7-8 meals to break even over the year, the park probably makes money on anyone eating less than 15-16 meals over the season for the park. My figures are speculative, and my break even comments are presumptive, but directionally I think the point I'm making is fair. This is a very good point. When we've had Six Flags passes, we've typically made about 7-8 trips throughout the year, so they probably did still make money from us. And that's not a bad thing at all.

Fixed. Ninja will always remain my number 1 least favorite coaster I dislike Ninja immensely, and don't get me wrong, it's utterly and inexcusably terrible. At the very least, though, there was a time in which it was good, and if they ever wanted to do some serious track work, it could be made good again. Boomerang is bad no matter what.

I did mean fourty I doubt that. There's no such word as "fourty." I know, I was quoting him as a joke. I found it more funny than it really was. I thought that was how you spelled it in the UK? Spelt in the UK...... what correctly? We often tend to spell words correctly, after all it is our language. What you guys choose to do with it is up to you, but leaving the 'U's' out of words like Colour and Neighbour is just unforgivable. I may be American, but I learnt proper English.
