I forgot to include a picture of the big new midway. Woops! I hope they do cool stuff with this in the years to come! -
Sorry this took a few weeks to organize. Okay, so I went with a couple friends to Indiana Beach on the last day of August. Let me first say that I am actually impressed with what the new management has to offer overall. Sure there are some downfalls, but overall, Indiana Beach is more of an enjoyable experience. One of the first things you will notice is there is now paid parking near the main entrance. We opted to park for free by the suspension bridge at the South gate. When you enter the main gate, you are now put into a new midway between the Steel Hawg and the cottages. This area used to be sort of abandoned and run down, now it is beautifully landscaped. Then you turn the corner and what used to be parking around Hoosier Hurricane and the flume is another new midway! Complete with funnel cakes and games, it looks really nice. Each ride in the park now has a uniform warning sign, which looks really nice. The old Tig'rr's den is now a Dog and Suds! Prices in general are still pretty low in comparison to large chain parks, but they debuted the refillable sports bottle, which sells for $7 I believe and refills are like $1 or $2. One thing I did notice, along with many other people, is that a lot of rides were down. Sky ride was closed all day along with big flush, splash battle and falling star. We got on air crow in the morning, but it was closed shortly after we went on it. We did the Frankenstein Castle thing. It was only $3.50 but totally awesome! I suggest it to anyone and everyone! The Rides: Steel Hawg Not the most comfortable restraint system. Incredibly fast and steep lift hill. Really surprised me. Brakes on first drop not so awesome Other than that, it was incredibly smooth, and not too fast. The inversions were pretty unique and really added to the overall ride experience. The photo kiosk was not open:( Line was about 20 minutes long all day with 2 car operation. 9/10 Cornball Express My favorite ride in the park still. Excellent ejector air even on the first drop. For being in the 40 mph range it really seems to fly by. Fun head choppers as well. 9/10 Hoosier Hurricane I have gained a lot of respect for this ride. The few times I rode it this trip it provided excellent air time and great g's on the turn around. Fun drop under the suspension bridge. Overall lots of fun! 8/10 Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain Lost respect for this ride. With one train operation and a queue in direct sunlight, waiting for this attraction is not too appealing. When you finally get on the ride, the skeleton no longer talks to you and it seems to get rougher each time for me. 5/10 Tig'rr Great ride. Schwarzkopf at its finest. No restraints makes for a unique experience too. Fantastic g forces on the helices. 7/10 Galaxi Typical Galaxi coaster, with NEW PAINT! And Bugle Mouth Bass, of course! 5/10 DOUBLE SHOT Still my favorite drop tower. For the best ride, I find being in the left seat on either of the lake view sides gives you a great view and air! 10/10 Overall we had a great time, now enjoy my pitcures! Wicked Turn around. That's all! Hope you enjoyed me proving there is more than corn in Indiana! Yes! There it is! Wait for it... New ride rule signs. Nearly identical to the ones at Six Flags Yo-Yo Splash Battle (Closed for the day) LoCoSuMo elevator lift Long LoCoSuMo line Most well spent $1.90 EVAR Yup Antique Autos Boardwalk with Sky Ride HAWG Closed Sky Ride Splash Bash Big Flush (Closed for the day) Double Shot Pirate Ship POV Tig'gr Whats this do? Car with restrain mechanism in operation. Really cool system, really, really awesome to watch the precision. Car Who rides in the back row when front is available? Final brake run and such Geek Shot Dropping Inverted! 120 degrees Collin on the Dodgems Mandatory Carp Shot Falling Star (too bad it was closed) Boardwalk Loco SuMo Steel Hawg train/car Incredibly steep lift Me and my room mate. Great Sign! The new baby!

Anyone else notice the boats will only hold 10 people? So much smaller than typical Intamin rides of this sort. -
I was just at Mt. Olympus and Timber Falls the 10th and 11th of August. Mt. Olympus: I felt Hades has become quite rough since I last rode in 2005. It is still my #3 favorite wood for sure, but wow. It also seemed faster to me, but that could be just the 3 years since I was on it. I don't know if you noticed this when you were there, but the lift chain was smoking each of the 5 times I rode it. Odd. It really is a terrific coaster, and I hope it continues to be for years to come. Too bad it only has 1 train. I felt Zeus was WAY better than I remembered, and provided immense amounts of air. Last time I rode it, however, it was in the forest, but with park expansion, most of it now runs along the parking lot. It actually reminds me a bit of the Raven in how it turns around, and the length and airtime of the ride. I did learn my lesson. I rode in the 2nd to last car alone, and when you ride in a car without much weight, you get really thrown around badly. Cyclops was fun, and reminds me of cornball, complete with Buzz Bars! Pegasus was fun too, but still doesn't do much for me. Despite the popular belief that Opa did not spin much, I got my car to spin more than the other 3 spinning mice I have ridden. I, being the larger rider, sat outside right, and had my passenger ride inside left, and we spun plastered in our seats all the way to the brakes! Go Karts were fun, we did Helios and Hermes Turbo, both of which provided fun layouts. I liked Mt. Olympus a lot. The wooden coaster collection looks so amazing from the water park, especially being on a hill. But for the amount of rides they have, everything is so spread out. I think with the addition of a water park element between Triton and Poseidon's Rage, the water park's newer elements will feel more included in the old Family Land Park. In both wave pools they did not allow people beyond a rope which blocked most of the pools. I understand the reason for this on the surf pool, as there is a strong undertow, but why on the smaller pool, which used to always allow swimmers out in the deep? The River Troy was fast, but was entirely theme-less! Another oddity was the lack of locker rooms. They had restrooms and locker rental nearby, but no changing areas in said restrooms. We stayed at the Mt. Olympus Value motel, which was right next to the Hotel Rome on property. Our room had 2 queens, a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, tv, a/c and heat. You park right in front of your room, which is a big PLUS over the hotel Rome. There was an indoor pool and picnic area there as well. Our room faced the "graveyard" complete with a styrofoam trojan horse! You can charge up your park wristband with money like a debit card so there is no need for cash in the parks. Food was comparable to Six Flags in quality and price. Timber Falls: Avalanche was running amazing. We were the only 2 on the coaster and rode front row. Timber Falls is a great little gem with lots of mini golf, a sky scraper ride, bumper boats, the coaster, and the best log flume I've been on. Ride/golf passes from 7-10 daily are only $14. So get over there and get on this ride! Knucklehead's: This place was packed with arcade games, bowling, a coaster, movie ride, bumper cars, go karts, etc. Ride passes were fairly cheap, but bowling was pretty high at about $4.50 a game. Attached was Buffalo Phil's restaurant which was Pizza and Barbecue. Excellent food and incredible Western atmosphere. For those of you whom are familiar with Moose Jaw Brewing Co. in the Dells, this place has the same owner. I would go back there for grub every time! Next door is a nice timber-adorned outlet center with many great stores. I have been to the Dells so many times in my life and every time I am still surprised. I would go back to Mt. Olympus for sure, but probably not overnight again. I am kind of stuck on the Wilderness Territory and the convenience of all they have to offer, so I'd have to return to staying there next time I go.[/b]

Holiday World Expansion 2009?
WildStangAlex replied to spaceace12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the speculation of a hotel. It would create even more of a family atmosphere. Allowing families to go back to their room easily to take an afternoon break. They then could re-enter the park from the new Thanksgiving entrance. Total speculation, but that would be such a nice addition to such a great park. -

Kalahari We stumbled upon an extra on our trip. Last year we went to the Kalahari the day after CP and loved it. Well, now they have added on, and my old boss works at the Kalahari in Sandusky. So we decided to go visit him and then take a while to relax and swim in North America's Largest Indoor Waterpark! At 175,000 sq. ft. it has a lot to offer. There is a Zip Coaster, 2 flow riders, 2 tube slides, 2 body slides, 2 family slides, a behemoth bowl, a pro bowl, mat racers, indoor outdoor hot tubs, wavepool, adventure river, basketball pools, play structure, the list goes on and on. Enough talking, let's see some pictures. monkeys that say goodbye. Dippin' Dots gone Wild Hello Again Play structure Zip Coaster Yet Again Another shot featuring the Zip Coaster and the river. Kennywood Sorry for the delay. I am back to both jobs now and haven't had much time. But here is Kennywood. I loved this park so much. It really packed a punch with all of the old and new rides it offered. We saw the Lumberjack Show which was totally an awesome family show. The racer was OK, but Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit and Phantom's Revenged Kicked Butt! Exterminator sucked, and I imagine is exactly how Dark Knight is. We went at 5pm so we only paid $17 per person. The park doesn't have regular closing times, they decide each day. The day we were there, they closed at 10:30, but we left around 10:10. Also, parking is free or $5 for preferred. One feature I found to be really cool was interactive questions. Some ride lines have signs asking park trivia. For answers you send a text to Kennywood for an instant response. Enjoy these pictures![/b] I leave you with the Phantom. Stay tuned for my next set of pictures! Pittsburgh has an obsession with fountains. Here is one. Swing Shot Cosmic Chaos. Waldameer Park This place is awesome! It has the charm of a little old park, much like Indiana Beach, but it has a WORLD CLASS woodie, Ravine Flyer II and Lake Erie. What more could someone ask for? What's that? Free parking and admission? Okay, they have that too, and even a water park. Or if you are a fan of the all-day one price admission, there is a combo water and theme park pass for only $21.95. It's a steal. Souvenir Drink cups for $5? It's simply Nirvana. Ravine Flyer II was one of my most favorite wooden coasters. I cam in with high expectations having LOVED Hades in 2005 then Voyage in 2006. Now in 2008 I fell in love with Ravine Flyer II. I have NOTHING negative to say except I wish Erie, PA wasn't so far away from home. The lift was relatively short, but the drop was big and had ejector air. The entire ride was airtime pops left and right. Albeit you can't really see the road you cross, it is cool just knowing you did cross one. The 90 degree section was VERY smooth and fun. Overall I LOVE THIS RIDE! Wait time was great too! 10 minutes max, even with a short down period. Although the featured attraction is very hard to get on film, I took some pictures of the park as wekk. Here are a few of the pictures I took. Park Map. Hello Everybody! I just wanted to share some pictures and notes with you of my family vacation/parks tour. So far we have visited Canada's Wonderland as well as Waldameer. Soon to come are Kennywood and Cedar Point. Canada's Wonderland Let me start by saying Canada's Wonderland and Toronto were AMAZING. The park is very well kept, has a great array of rides and LOTS of trees! The park staff was friendly and they seemed to have a grasp on the crowds. Behemoth was a lot of fun, but I wasn't terribly impressed. It was a bit rough at times and, just really wasn't anything over the top of other B&M hypers. I'm not disappointed by any means. Also, I thought the Italian Job... er... BL:SC was a bit boring without any of the effects working. Otherwise, the park was great. The shows were not yet playing, but there is another few weeks of school up in Ontario. We had a $20 CAD buffet at the Marketplace, which was OUTSTANDING. Prime Rib, Peel & Eat Shrimp, amazing desserts, etc. I did not have a chance to photograph every ride, but I did take pictures of the ones that stuck out in my mind or ones I rode. I will write about Waldameer when I post my pictures in the next few days. Thanks for reading! Sign right outside main entrance. Come on inside, and see what Wonderland has to offer. A TPR Heaven! (My heaven anyways) Victoria Falls, in season there is a High Dive show on these falls Some have SIX flags, CW has MORE flags! Even MORE flags! Pretty good theming at this park There ARE Canadian Geese in Canada, here's proof! Backlot Stunt Coaster, basically IJ:ST sans effects. The Bat. Fun Corkscrew with an Arrow train Too bad it's not a Pepsi Oasis. It would be *free* (ok I miss HW) Dragon Fire was ok, I thought CP's Corkscrew was a bit smoother. The infamous new name IMO No different than other SLC's Crossover. The Fly's Lift and 1st Drop The Fly's main section Boring ride. Only redeeming feature was traversing through the slide towers Home of true coaster pain OUCH! It HURT! The mountain in Sky Rider's Loop Thunder Run. Very Short, but fun, ride. Exit tunnel for Thunder Run. CREEPY The lift on Timewarp. I feel sad for the riders' backs it is about to destroy Best shot of Wild Beast I have The lift Wild Beast Train Vortex! The best Suspended Coaster I've ridden. the lift... away into the mountain Vortex Lift Chain Driver, in the station Sledge Hammer. A bizare ride. The Rage. A smaller swinging ship. Riptide. a double top spin The water SOAKED the riders. Psyclone. Like a mini Maxxair or Delirium, shorter cycle too. "Drop Tower" How original. Nightmares. A variation on round up. BEHEMOTH! The entrance of Behemoth...through local horticulture More Behemoth 3 Coasters in 1. Down...Down...DOWN! It's a really awesome drop! Airtime action! Behemoth behind Mine Buster Behemoth...on the lake! First drop. So this is totally speculation, BUT... To me it seems kind of odd that the park created Mardi Gras, when they also kept Orleans place. With the addition of Dark Knight coaster next to S:UF, it seems like we are getting a density of Justice League superheroes in Orleans Place. Is it just me, or can anyone else see the re-theming of Orleans Place as "Justice League Central" or something of the sort, just like IOA's Marvel Island. That would alleviate the oddness of two "New Orleans" themed sections. But that brings up another question. What about Batman: the ride? Well, two options there, move the entrance, or change the theming. The 2nd seems very unlikely, but the entrance could easily be moved to the new "Justice League" section. What are people's opinions on this? Am I totally insane? Or is this totally a possibility in the next few years? -

Wow! Raging Bull looks awesome! I think it's good that there is a new Johnny Rocket's, because it seemed popular last year. I'm excited for the smoking enforcement However, I am not looking forward to several things such as $15 aux. lot parking and no Vu. The lockers don't bother me either way, if they speed up boarding great, but they definitely don't negatively impact me. TDK looks like it needs some work done, and fast to be open by their 3 week delay. As for everything else, the park looks clean, fresh, and fun. I can't wait for this season! Also, I paid less than $65 for my entire season pass, now they want me to pay that just for parking? -
