Big travel plans may be down the crapper, but I still suspect your local parks are going to be packed. You're looking at it from a financially responsible point of view. The majority of the people in the US and worldwide are conditioned not to know how to handle their finances. If they did, we wouldn't have payment plan options on tickets and season passes. Mr. and Mrs. Visa will pick up the check for entry at the local parks when this is all said and done. It's a cheaper alternative to a vacation when people are trying to recover from cabin fever. (no pun intended) On the flip side, you also have the people out there who are still employed with plenty of job security. They're going to be working hard to play catch-up on their summer/warm weather season.

The text and layout reminds me of a modern day church bulletin. -
I still wonder if it's going to be the exact opposite. I think people will be dying to get out so badly that once all of this is completely clear and the quarantines are lifted parks are going to be jam packed. Once the dogs are off the leash the local entertainment venues will be packed. Even if the economy is trash, people are used to spending what they don't have...

^I'm a Xennial, so I got to experience quite a bit of that, too. But, our micro-generation was weird. During the day, our parents would have no clue where we were until we came home with scrapes and bruises from playing street hockey, building dangerous AF forts, or playing 'king of the hill' type games. When we got yelled at enough to come inside, we'd slam take-out pizza, crush a few cans of Surge, and have sleep-overs with every kid on our street where we stayed up until 3am playing Sega. It was an awesome mixed bag. The couple times we went to SF per year were truly treats. When Batman and Mr. Freeze opened up they rocked our worlds. Fast forward to April, 2020. When I'm not at work I'm stuck home watching Nextflix or getting destroyed by avid video-gamers on PS4 until I get frustrated and vow never to play again. This sucks. -

Canceled? Nah. I'm sure they'll still have coaster stock as soon as the park reopens in 2021. -

^Wow. That really sounds fun. You can always Zelle me 50 since it means nothing to you. The audacity of that statement explains perfectly why you're in this predicament. Thank you for clearing that up. Best of luck. -

So what if you cancel now and in a month they're open? (doubtful) You're also complaining about losing your job. That's terrible, and I feel for you. But, full time Breakers employees are likewise trying to hang onto their jobs by being able to pay wages without premature cancellations where commitments were already made. You're not the only one in crisis. It's a two-way street. Look at CF stock (FUN). Any time you book a trip in advance you take this risk. Read the fine print, dude. Andrew has the best advice. Get refundable rates/trip insurance. Yeah. You can. No boats or aircraft are required to get from Texas to Ohio. It can even be done in one (long) day. -

Consider yourself lucky. Seriously. If you can find fun in what others can't that's just one more thing for you to able to enjoy. I haven't been on Ninja in a long time, but it's hard for me to imagine it being in the bottom ten of all roller coasters. Does some of that have to deal with the awkward/boring layout? I remember people loving it when I was a kid. Before Ninja, the only roller coaster I would ride was Mine Train. I was too afraid to ride anything else. My Dad made me ride Ninja as soon as I was tall enough. He was stern and I didn't have a choice. I made that son of a bitch regret it, since I made him ride it an additional seven times. The black belt of roller coasters started my infatuation with parks and roller coasters. That probably explains what's wrong with me. Maybe I'll go give it a spin just to see how terrible its gotten. Oh. Wait... -
^I agree. Most people in our area got an emergency alert this morning advising that the State of Illinois is in need of healthcare workers. wtf? It linked to a map of Illinois and showed the concentration of infected areas highlighted. It provided information on how to contact the healthcare department. I didn't get this alert, so my information is limited to 3rd party from my wife and friends. Once again, this proves how useless people think I am...

^Without a doubt. Maybe they can just embrace the suck, like Kentucky Kingdom did with T3, bragging about how it will beat the shit out of you... -
That's easier said than done. Here's more insight on our local chaos: In my area, there are "Parks Closed" signs up at all of our parks and a lot of people don't seem to care. We had about 50 kids around a basketball court last week, even after a shooting took place. There's little to no enforcement that can be done. I don't know of any enforceable criminal violations pertaining to people gathering in public places, like sidewalks or parking lots. Most of what I've seen are reports to the health department which threaten civil actions like revocation of business licenses. We call it the "Please-Shelter-In-Place Act." When IL shelter-in-place came out, there were barely any people in public. We had significantly less police related calls for service. Now, it's damned near business as usual, even despite the first cases being reported in my county happening now. It's no surprise, since a large segment of people we deal with can't handle petty problems without escalating them into something more. Hence the shooting. Why would they be expected to behave any different during this crisis? Articles I read outline first outlined the conditions of shelter-in-place acts and their effectiveness for public compliance. But, they always mention skepticism about how long society will comply. It took less than a week where I live. Yesterday, we went out for a scenic/fun drive, without stopping anywhere. During our drive we saw large groups of people together. We even saw a freaking vape shop open. It's bullshit. I'm sure it will be ignored even more by the time I go back to work next week. I'm worried that it's only a matter of time before I bring this home to my pregnant wife. Speaking of the pregnancy, local hospital policies are changing. Hospitals are releasing mothers and newborns earlier than in the past. Also, you can now only have your spouse/partner with you throughout the duration of your stay. You are not allowed to leave the hospital during your partner's stay, or you will not be permitted to reenter the hospital. I saw on the news a couple days ago that NYC won't even let a spouse/partner in the room. I hope we don't get to that level by May, when she's due. We will not tell our family when our child is born until we're home, since our In-Laws talked about how no-one can stop them from meeting us in the parking lot to see the baby. We have to completely isolate her from everyone. Basically, my optimism has slightly faded for a larger portion of the population than I anticipated. But, I still really feel that the greater caring majority will help overcome this. People and businesses are reacting in a positive way. It's still cool to hear about some of our local businesses who are now sacrificing some of their regular product lines to start manufacturing medical supplies.

Worst Coaster Ever?

I'm just going to put it out there. Skyrush.............. It looks phenomenal and it has such intensity. This makes it such a tease for me. BUT THOSE GOD DAMNED RESTRAINTS!!! One of our rides was good, but we had to be on our guard the entire ride. The next ride was fun mixed with discomfort. And the last ride. In the front. On a wing. Fffk that ride!!! It hurt. Yet, I'll probably give it try after try, because it looks so good and the non painful ride I did get it of it was GREAT! It's like the domestic violence cycle of abuse. -
As far as the beach parties and what not, you're seeing the small percentage of the negative and focusing on it. There's some truth to the fact that you can have nine positive experiences and one negative one. Yet, you'll remember the negative experience. That goes for people, too. Just like the idiots having the COVID-19 parties. They're not the majority. By watching the politics on the media you wouldn't know it, but the majority of us are rallying. There are plenty of opportunities for all of us to help. Even having the self control and making the sacrifice to stay inside is helping. (Maybe for the first time in history doing nothing is actually doing something to make a difference. ) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

TBH, I wouldn't count on any opening date any park sets at this point. They're being optimistic, with reason. They don't want consumers to completely cancel their plans instead of settling with delaying them. I could be dead wrong, but these shelter-in-place orders are doing the same thing. If you say you're going to lock everything down for two months people are more likely to panic. At these this is my theory. BUT, I was also dead wrong when I said this entire thing was an over exaggeration by the media, so who knows. (You can only cry wolf so many times before you get complacent and the wolf actually shows up.)
