This reminds me of our local Walmart. They have queues and employees set up outside with signs that they're limiting the amount of customers within the store, but there's never a wait. I asked the cashier how many customers are allowed in the store under these restrictions and she told me 700. She said the only day of the year where they exceed 700 is on Black Friday.

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

^He's so hardcore. It would be interesting to know how many people outwardly mourned the loss of this park who still won't return now that it's back. I'm guessing that figure would be high. -
^^ I agree. But, are there more penalties to non-compliance or is it strictly the culture? Maybe a combination of both? This is a legitimate question, not a philosophical question. That's great. Thanks for taking the time to share that information. Sorry about your job loss. Seems like the aforementioned firing high wage/hiring low wage workers seems to be a worldwide practice. How is capacity affected by the safety measures? Is it like the previous post about Disney where only one person is allowed per train and markers are set a certain distance apart? Maybe I missed it (since I've been up almost 24 hours), but is there a limit to attendance? I'm curious if US parks do really start to open if skip-the-line/fast lane/flash pass systems will still be available. (asking for a friend...) Are they still, or were they ever, available in Korea? How long does it usually take you guys to fully get back to normal?

The annoying fall-back argument I keep seeing against keeping parks closed is that trains can be sprayed/sanitized between every run, hand rails can be sprayed/sanitized constantly, etc. But, I would imagine those practices would require a ton of sanitation supplies that may not even be available. It seems like there are so many people who think that the catch-all solution is just to spray more chemicals. I'm all for opening more consumer services using safer practices, but I hope parks don't try to pull the trigger too soon. The public entertainment industry should be one of the last in line to open. Patience is starting to wear thin with the masses.

Screw HW and their dry park. The live music and cool bar area made me actually tempted to go to IB. This totally looks like a cool boardwalk park to slam a couple cold beers and ride rides. -

People seem more focused on current events rather than building hype for roller coasters. Everyone just wants to get back to normal first. I would imagine amusement parks will be one of the last businesses to go back to normal. Right now, people just want to go out to eat or see a movie. No one can even get a haircut currently. KI and other parks don't even show up on my FB feed anymore. Either I'm specifically not seeing them for some reason, or they're trying not to be insensitive to the real issues we are facing right now. Orion is going to be great. But, more people are focused on being able to have a face-face conversation with friends and family. "Grandma just died, but at least I can ride Orion soon!" I just don't see this helping build hype. -
"Essential" businesses have been doing that in Illinois since the beginning of this. It works just like curbside food. I went and picked up painting supplies from Sherwin Williams last weekend. I called the number on the door, which was large enough to see from the parking lot, and I placed my order. Ten minutes later, my order was delivered by a mostly competent gentleman wearing masks and gloves. He put it in the trunk of my car without me having to get out of my car. In most cases, I think the threat of infection is more dangerous from employee to employee, instead of employee to consumer. It would have to work differently for physical contact services like hair salons/barber shops. We had someone cut our hair at work last week. She wore a mask, gloves, and goggles. She sprayed the chairs and covers down in between cuts. She checked our temperature before the cut. One potential problem I recognize is that reopening some of these businesses places more responsibility on individuals and less away from the government. As things begin to feel more and more normal, I believe people will become complacent. Do you want more government control or more individual control? There are so many questions that can be asked around that sentiment. It's a huge catch-22. Criminals are being really cute about this. Two people smashed their car into one of our squad cars, while nearly striking our officers, in order to avoid escape for robbery charges. Both claimed they had COVID, because some agencies would release them. They were sent to the hospital for testing and it took a few days to return negative. One admitted to falsifying the claim, because it's been working with other agencies, even after being charged with dangerous violent crimes. For example, he was just released a week prior to that for guess what... robbery. Both faked symptoms and one even had an elevated temperature for a couple of the readings. I guess maybe you can rub your forehead long enough or maybe do exercises? Either way, although it was normal for most readings, there were several times it was elevated. Regardless, from Monday until Thursday, I didn't know if I had been directly exposed to two people with COVID from unavoidable physical contact. Luckily, the test returned negative. In those circumstances, it was right at shift change and there wasn't enough time to prepare our PPE. That was a fun thing to have hanging over my head while confined to my home with a pregnant AF wife. This is becoming a common practice for dangerous people and some other agencies don't have the resources to do anything but release them.

I hate to admit it, but there have been a lot of Facebook users who point out the similarities, too. It's not all from people who are into the hobby. -

This may be the first year in a long time where Six Flags has a new attraction operational on opening day. -

Those banks are so much steeper than they seemed from afar and in the animation. There doesn't seem to be a dull moment. Orion is going to be a hit when it opens in 2021. -
If this was supposed to be a positive statement, it did a piss poor job. Buy a case of beer and drown your sorrows. I've been doing this once a week for years.......... We don't have a Krispy Kreme in my town, but our ice cream shops have been out of control. A really popular, and damned delicious, custard stand near us has traffic cones weaving cars through the parking lot to get to the drive-thru.

I was going to start a discussion about how it's the park's responsibility to save it's reputation and not ours. Then, I read this. I concede. -
Eh. What a weird time. So now once the word gets around students can do nothing and still pass it will give them even more of a reason not to care. Word has already gotten around that people are not being taken to jail for anything less than crimes such as inflicting great bodily harm or discharging a firearm. Now they can also say "ffck school," along with the fun variations we're already being told of, "Ffck yall! You can't take me to jail!" On that note, we are not pulling people over and asking where they're going or where they're coming from. We do everything we can to avoid any contact with anyone on behalf of safety reasons for the public and ourselves. There's nothing we can do, regardless. No enforcement action is available. It's a common misconception in our area that police are pulling people over and making contacts randomly to make sure they're in compliance. We get pointless calls for service to check on large gatherings, but there's almost nothing we can do about it. We ask people to break it up. Half the time they tell us to ffck off. We leave. If the party is large enough to articulate mass public danger, we can summons people to court at a later time on a 'reckless conduct' charge. When they're drunk and high it's still not enough for them to stop without immediate consequences. Don't believe any rumors that this is a 'police state.' We can't do sh*t, so we just try our best not to get contaminated. It's whatever. I don't have the right answer for these issues.

That's a good question and it makes sense, but I'm still not sure you'll have the demand outside of the current operating schedule. Also, if we're completely in the clear enough for parks to be open I'd imagine schools would be in the clear to open. I bring that up, because wouldn't next year's school year start a lot earlier to make up for this year? I'm not sure if it works like that, but that will shave days off of the Monday - Friday operating season. Has anyone heard any rumors on what's going to happen to the school year?

KI might as well just go ahead and release a POV of Orion. No one is going to be riding it anytime soon. -
^Stocks: Totally. People who are selling now are going to lose their asses. There are also decent short term investment opportunities now, with Cedar Fair (FUN) being one of them. Cruise lines are iffy, but experts seem to think that within a few years share prices will be back to where they were, with some of them selling at 20-30% of what they were in later 2019. Yep. I get it. But, you're dealing with different circumstances than you were in 2009.
