  1. Well I guess this depends if we're talking about floater air or ejector air. Anyway if a ride has plenty of airtime it's not very hard for it to be good while you can't rely only on positive Gs if you want a great, yet airtimeless ride. Positive Gs also require a combination of twists and changes of direction to be "complete" while airtime doesn't need a lot more to be great.
  2. ^I haven't been on Scream but I can compare two floorless coasters I've been on (Bizarro and spanish superman) and while I think the second one is better as a coaster the landscaping and atmosphere of the first (which is not even something extraordinary) decreases the difference in terms of overall experience to the point where it almost doesn't exist. So, I too think that is part of the ride experience.
  3. Yup, it was running fantastic in the opening year and things started to change since 2011. The park might started to take less care on it so it went rough. Actually my arm hit in the branch of a tree at the bottom of the first drop(it REALLY hurt!) but the ride op seemed did not care about my complaint... Well, other riders hold on really tight on any coaster so I might be the first and the only one getting hit. Well but it doesn't really matter if most people raise their arms or not, if you hit it they HAVE to do something about that as the safety margin is now gone. P.S. Really hope this Mack gets built, looking forward to see what they can do with that height.
  4. We'll see how the weather is on the 11th, and also how crowded it will be. I really want to try this out but if the park is awfully packed coasters are my priority (and my schoolmates too as I won't be going alone)
  5. Got this photo of part of the launch from coasterfriends.
  6. I remember when I was a kid (around five or six) and I already loved roller coasters my grandfather (who was the only one with a computer and, therefore, access to the internet) would download every video he found of coasters, some of which I later came to find out were from TPR's coaster expeditions! I also remember my parents recording a documentary from TLC called "Top ten ultimate thrill rides" which I still have in VHS. It must have been from around 2000 or 2001 as Millennium Force (no 1) was quite recent.
  7. ^There are many factors which influence how smooth the ride is so I'm not sure if it is just a matter of trains (although it could be). You can even have two clones with completely different levels of smoothness/roughness with no evident reason.
  8. ^The roughness doesn't, the effect it has is what does. I think that's a more simple way to put it.
  9. ^Oh I forgot about the steepness of a drop, we did that too and yeah, it was also assuming that it would fall. If things were like that we would never have airtime
  10. Very guilty of this one. I remember being kind of pissed but in a way finding it funny when we were studying a loop and the teacher transmitted the idea that if, for some reason, the train does not carry enough speed, it will fall instead of rolling back, but then most people don't know roller coasters have upstop wheels
  11. ^ I rode raptor last summer and it was running perfectly but, for some reason, it didn't look like it got a lot of attention. Loose tires, filthy looking lift hill and the chain was looking horrible too, as if someone had just thrown a bucket of grease at it. The fact that it was awesome and completely smooth despite this reminds me of why I like B&M so much.
  12. I love how simple these B&M panels look.
  13. Moving to something other than the song, what did you think about the winners overall? I can't say much as I'd only seen a couple of the films with the most nominations.
  14. ^I was just about to say that they seem wider now but, well, at least from now on we will have those.
  15. If, when riding your bike, you try to do the transitions between corners as fast as possible, the intamin-style. Also, I find it funny how this thread is basically a way of telling all the coaster nerdy stuff we do
  16. ^We'll see how it does in intensity but from what I've heard Blue Fire is not the most forceful ride around, despite being very good.
  17. I like the look of the track. It somehow feels more modern than Arrow's.
  18. ^It has to, right? But then we're only on the 2nd.
  19. I added four to my top ten last year! And the only reason why I didn't have a new 1st was because Skyrush's restrains hurt me like hell, so it dropped to third.
  20. ^I haven't quite decided if I prefer brake runs where the train enters super fast or where it kind of crawls as they both have its advantages and drawbacks. The fast ones may be better for keeping the pacing up but the high speed at which the trains enters it means there is a lot of room for trimming while the slow ones may kill the pacing a little bit (like raptor's) but mean that not much speed can be taken from the train. About the polar coaster in particular, it is probably going to have a few if they want decent capacities.
  21. ^^ I would also like to see Gravity winning something but I'm not very confident. But then out of the films that have the most nominations I've only seen that one and American Hustle. We'll see.
  22. ^And replaced by a knock-off SLC, right? So which one was better?
  23. Tornado - Parque de Atracciones de Madrid?
