  1. I had two of the very rare ones with the "Theme Park Review" writing in red. Unfortunately, I lost them somewhere. The one I'm using now has passed the three year mark, believe it or not. But that's OK---when this one is done, there's another one in the bullpen. Eric
  2. ^ I like the openness of those trains, but I don't like the staggered seats. To be fair, I haven't ridden any coasters with those trains, but it seems like they'd be hard and slow to load like the Deja Vu trains because of riders trying to get through a narrow space. But I've not seen any complaints here or anywhere else, so perhaps the problem is just in my own head (along with others... ). Supposedly, there's something really big coming to SFMM next year. But we'll see. Eric
  3. ^ You're young, so it's better you learn about proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation now. When you're trying to find a job, your resume and cover letter had better be absolutely perfect. When you're in competition with others for a job, it is essential to win the position; once you land the job it is essential to keep the position. No one's perfect (nor am I), but being the very best you can be will pay off. The websites that don't care about this are only contributing to the problem. For whatever reason, students aren't having this taught or reinforced during the course of their education. Eric
  4. ^ This is why SFMM needs a good, long out-and-back airtime machine. There's enough room if it's placed properly. It's a flat out dream, but wouldn't it be great to have a coaster with a station behind, say, Roaring Rapids that climbs toward Deja Vu, takes a drop and a right-hand turn up toward Batman/Scream!, has a big mid-ride helix, then makes the trip back? Something like the Morgan coasters of the mid-'90s. Nothing but speed and airtime. And something with a track length of over a mile. SFMM already holds the world record for inversions. Time for something else. Eric
  5. ^ You're right, Allen. Vandenberg was supposed to be a secondary location, but they backed out. It sure would have been great to see a West Coast launch. Even now missiles are launched from Vandenberg and the trails they leave are pretty cool to see from here, some 100 miles away. Eric
  6. This'll be like Y2K, only this time it's Y2XII. And the very same will happen---nothing. Eric
  7. ^ I have two of those "old" TPR pens, and they're just as reliable as my Honda. Eric
  8. At one time, space shuttles were going to be launched from Vandenberg AFB just north of Lompoc, CA. I'm not sure why they planned to do that; perhaps it was because if the shuttle landed at Edwards AFB, it was easier to transport it just a relatively short distance for refurb/relaunch from Vandenberg. They even built a special building at the Navy base here in Ventura County for the refurbishment/reuse of any parts that were salvaged from the ocean after a launch. (And I've been in that building, too.) But none ever took place for some reason, so the building is used for other programs. Eric
  9. ^ I have a feeling that the Title Fairy looks a LOT better than that... Eric
  10. ^^ Maybe I can get the girl to come along as well, provided she isn't scheduled to work. Diana hasn't been out to SFMM all year, so she may be interested. ^ Yeah, we could end up with quite a group, huh? Eric
  11. I've never seen a space shuttle launch, and probably never will. But I did get to see one land at Edwards AFB out here in California back in 1981. Eric
  12. Rant du jour #1: When people don't put a space before something in parentheses. Example: This(and that). Rant du jour #2: The term "app." I know it's short for "application," but I'm just tired of hearing it. Apparently everything nowadays is an app itself or has one available. Eric
  13. For me, a good website would get me interested in the park. You'd have to know what is there before you made plans to go see it. Eric
  14. Thanks for posting these photos, John. It was great hanging out at The Bash! Eric
  15. This thread is back from the dead. I've picked up a new guilty pleasure: since we got the HD DVR with Verizon FiOS, I've been able to watch The People's Court and Judge Judy later on. Judge Marilyn Milian is nice to look at, and Judge Judy is hilarious when she calls out the stupid people! Eric
  16. ^ Typed more than four words. < Typed WAY more than four words. V Knows about four words!
  17. Cool report! I have a couple of the regular TPR pens (the black ones), and I've been using one of them for about three years. It's almost like the ink will never run out. In fact, one person borrows a pen from me occasionally and lately has been saying, "Is that still the same pen?" Eric
  18. While I think that newer rides have surpassed it in terms of thrills, I still enjoy a ride or two on Superman--The Escape if the line isn't too long. It is true that it no longer reaches 100 mph, but the floater air that you get on it is still fun. For anyone who has never been to SFMM, I say you should ride it and make your own judgment. Eric
  19. Honestly, I think any day in April will have a decent sized crowd because different school districts take their spring breaks at different times. Next month might be better to take a trip to SFMM. I'm sure I'll get out there sometime this month, regardless, but most likely it'll be on a Sunday. Eric
  20. I have wondered whatever became of SFOG's Deja Vu (of course SFGAm's went to Silverwood in Idaho). While it isn't my favorite ride, I am glad that SFMM still has theirs. Eric
  21. ^ I don't post many photos, but when I do, I first resize them to TPR requirements, then just upload them straight from the folder on my computer. So far, I've never had any trouble. Eric
  22. ^ .Eatrip Denosiop < .LBE V !Em woleb nosrep eht
  23. And SFMM would remove the scream shields. I like Maliboomer and usually ride it when I visit DCA. Looks like I'll have to make an effort to get there this summer. Eric
  24. ^ While you certainly need some rest, your next paycheck ought to be great. Eric
  25. ^ If you go here and read the February 17 entry, it spells out the Funatic rewards. However, to save a little time, I've posted the parking reward right here and bolded the Xtreme Pass reward: 3rd Visit: Free Regular Parking! If you’ve ever played me in Monopoly you know two things: I’m always the Top Hat and I love free parking. And, if you’ve already got your Season Parking, you can generously donate it to a friend or selfishly upgrade to Preferred Parking. You’ll get no judgments from me. Hope that answers your question. Eric
