  1. Good ol' Shock Wave. That was a fun ride, and my first standup coaster. One funny moment was how on our first ride, my then girlfriend/now wife's seat popped up a notch when we took the little dip out of the station. That forced her to ride on her tip toes. Eric
  2. I go to parks by myself all the time. For me, it's an escape. I can spend a few hours at SFMM and not even have to ride very much. Just being in the park, smelling the food, watching people, etc. makes for a good time. Eric
  3. This is a mirror image of the Technic Coaster at Legoland California. That's a fun little ride, and I can't imagine why they'd remove it. Eric
  4. ^ On a "Rampage." < On a chair. V On a milk carton!
  5. ^ I wondered about that, too, but don't know for sure. Maybe a call to the park could clear that up. Also, I'm not sure why there would be an expiration date on something like this, unless it's to get you out to the park sooner---in which case, you'll just earn more rewards. Eric
  6. "It just dawned on me how much Eric (EBL) looks like Mr. Wilson from the 'Dennis the Menace' comic strip." And I can probably yell at people just like him, too. One thing I thought was really cool were the custom signs that Knott's put out (the ones directing us to the tours, etc.). To me, that's going the extra mile. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Montezooma's Revenge currently the only operating Schwarzkopf shuttle in the U.S.? And as a bonus, it's still in its original location. That ride just never gets old. I'm sorry that I only took one ride on it during WCB. But since I live out here, I can ride it almost any time. Eric
  7. I should look into this. It sounds like a fun event. Eric
  8. I'm a AAA member, and have not heard about this. Even though I have an Xtreme Play Pass, it would be worth the $25 for the extra perks of more or less ERT after park hours. Eric
  9. Don't you have to be a member of the Six Flags Funatics? I signed up for it as soon as it became available. Remember, too, that the Skip the Line pass is only good till May 12. Eric
  10. It's Southern California and almost summer-like, so yes. Do you count the cars of passing trains?
  11. Regarding charge card accounts, maybe they call them "revolving" accounts because the interest rates make your head spin. Eric
  12. ^ I got the skip the line pass voucher in my e-mail, then I had to print it. Hopefully the e-mail from SFMM didn't go into your spam folder by mistake. Eric
  13. Yes, you do every time you post. Are you sad that the original Yankee Stadium has been torn down?
  14. I always wondered when they were going to tear down Yankee Stadium. Now we know. Like jjune4491, I was never a Yankees fan, but the thought of yet another classic ballpark meeting its demise saddens me. What's funny is that I remember when Dodger Stadium here in L.A. was almost brand new, and now it's the third oldest park in the major leagues behind Wrigley Field and Fenway Park. Eric
  15. ^ Going with a SN with just your initials has worked out for me. "EBL" is as simple as you can get. RANT: I think we have termites in our house. Eric
  16. One thing I've learned with rides with OTSRs---get it down as close to your shoulders as you can. Fortunately, the ones on X2 are vertically adjustable, so you can get it down tightly. Next, while riding, try to stick your legs out in front of you during both of the half-half elements and in both raven turns. Doing that has greatly reduced the discomfort of riding X2. Now if SFMM could get some OTSRs on Revolution that are vertically adjustable---like some Schwarzkopf coasters have in Europe---that ride would become rideable again. Eric
  17. All I have now is a Canon A720 IS. It's a point and shoot and I can shoot videos, too. The video quality isn't bad for this type of camera, though at some point I'd like to get an actual camcorder. Eric
  18. As I've said before, I was done with X and they could have made scrap metal out of it for all I care. However, once I gave X2 a try, I was hooked. There've been a few rough-ish rides, but none as horrible as I "X"perienced before. As for the sound, I hear it all the way to the top of the lift, then little or nothing till after the final element and roll into the station (ditto for Terminator's sound). But I couldn't care less about onboard sound, to be honest. For me, it doesn't do much for the enjoyment of the ride. The re-engineering of X's trains was a good thing. Eric
  19. I've never been there, but I believe that Ghost Town in the Sky had a chairlift that you had to ride to get from the parking lot to the park itself. And I think one park in Hong Kong has an aerial tramway that takes you from parking to the park. Eric
  20. ^^ "No need to shop at places like Abercrombie (I've never even stepped into one)" Guess where Diana works? But you're right, Gregg. For years, I've always shopped at Sears, Penney's, Levi's, Mervyn's (now gone), and Kohl's for clothes. High end brand clothes are often not made any better---you're paying for the name. If you look at the tags, you'll see that some of the expensive clothes are still made on the other side of the world for undoubtedly very little cost. Outlet malls can be your friend, too. I get my Reebok walking shoes at our local Camarillo Premium Outlets store. Their shoes are already priced $20 below retail, and they have a deal where if you buy one pair, the second is half price. If you buy two pairs, the third pair is free. So for about $100, I get three pairs of good walking shoes---and I only have to do that about once every other year because I'm easy on my shoes and wear them awhile. Eric
  21. Nice report so far, Chuck. It's been a long time since I last rode Superman, but when I noticed this broken panel, I was kind of ticked off. I wonder if they'll replace it somehow. Eric
  22. GhostRider at Knott's. And actually not a bad ride, either. Front seat of Gold train. Eric
  23. No, I don't believe so. Does it bother you when people call rides by names other than their true name (like calling California Screamin' at DCA "Scream", or Gold Rusher at SFMM "Gold Rush")?
  24. I'm eating soup, I tell you! Eric
