My rant du jour is when people say, "I could care less." It should be, "I couldn't care less." Eric

^ I totally forgot that SFMM will be on daily operation at that time. Eric

Club TPR is Coming in March!
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I'm no expert on resumes, but I don't list any extracurricular activities on mine. Most of what I read says to keep that off. Like a few others, I'm still on the fence about joining Club TPR. Not that I think it's a bad idea (I don't), but right now my finances are pretty tight and a few extra bucks just aren't available. Maybe in a few months it'll all change and I can join. But I'll play it by ear for now. Eric -
Computer illiterate people that think they know things

My niece thought that using Ad-Aware put spyware, malware, etc. ONTO your hard drive, so she deleted the program from her computer. Guess what? The drive started running really slow and eventually crashed because it got infected with...drum roll please...spyware, malware, etc... Eric -
^ I often use the number of tower segments to determine how far up a car has reached, and I've seen cars reach the second segment from the top. That's more than 80%. But that hasn't been in a long time. One time, a SFMM employee told me that Superman usually doesn't even hit 85 or 90 mph anymore. That means that, technically, Goliath is the fastest coaster at the park. Eric

Wait till you guys turn 50! Both sides of Gwazi were closed during my one and only visit...maybe that was a good thing? Kumba was open, but I was too busy doing other things to get to it---and then when I headed over there, it was closed due to problems and never reopened. Nice TR for all of the parks. I hope to get back to Florida soon. Eric

Roy Disney was right on the mark when he said that DCA was built "on the cheap." However, I think that in a couple of years, once everything currently under construction is complete, DCA will be a lot closer to what it should have been from the start, and might even be worthy of spending an entire day in. But being landlocked---and now out of parking lot to expand into, I wonder what future attractions would/could be added? Eric

^ But wouldn't you like to see the look on the face of anyone you snuck up behind with a Porsche operating in electric mode. They'd never hear you coming! Eric

^ I fail to see how "Chocolate Rules" is a stupid philosophy. And that would easily fit on a bumper sticker. Eric

In my experience, going on a Sunday is better than a Saturday. The crowds seem to be smaller. If you arrive at opening and can ride X2, Tatsu, and Terminator first, you should be good for the rest of the day. Eric

I noticed that with the new version of the TPR forums, the members' names don't change color anymore. Eric

^^ When Magic Mountain opened in Spring 1971, it was really not ready. That showed in their operations (I well remember a lot of ride breakdowns, overcrowded queues due to poor design, etc.). Fortunately, Sea World and Newhall Land & Farming took notice and closed the park only six months after opening. The park stayed closed (not even weekend operation) for six months to add a few more rides and improve on the ones they did have. When it reopened in Spring 1972, things were much better. I think that Disney really should have done the same thing with DCA. They may have even been able to get the work done faster because they wouldn't be dealing with crowds. Then, upon reopening, they could have held a "Grand Reopening" event which could possibly draw a lot of people (and $$$) into the place. But I bet Disney gets their trolley up and running faster than the L.A. MTA! Eric

^^^ Your friend did very well, Wes. If anyone is looking for love, the best way is to act like you don't really need someone or just not looking. For whatever reason, others find that attractive; perhaps because you don't come across as "needy"---a major turnoff for most people. Eric

^ On a similar note, I'm known to not just blurt out something unless I know is true. But if I'm not 100% sure, I will say something like, "I don't know if this is true..." or "This may not be the case, but..." It really bugs me when someone comes back with, "How do you know?" Why not just call me a liar and save some time? Eric
