  1. Tonight I played Hide from my Wife. Eric
  2. ^ So, you're ashamed that there's no delete button, eh? Well, I'll go ahead and admit it...I'm ashamed that CDs are round! Eric
  3. ^ Texas is like that, too, in some parts. Eric
  4. Flashback scares me the most. It might open and take on riders someday. Eric
  5. Senator Markey has my permission to fall off a cliff. If he has things his way, coasters like Goliath Jr. will become the norm. He knows nothing about the amusement industry and has no concept of what will become of it should any of his brilliant ideas ever see the light of day. Eric
  6. Strange as it sounds, I'm actually happy to live just 100 feet from a busy rail line. Being a longtime railfan, I get to see plenty of trains go by just by looking out my kitchen window. Yeah, they go by at 2am sometimes, but so what? I sleep right through. Eric
  7. The Superman tower was NOT designed to have anything run on it other than the current ride. The one in Australia was, which explains why it DOES have such a ride. But SFMM is overdue for something like this. A standing freefall ride would go over very well, I think. I forget which park does have one. Eric
  8. ^ That's better than having caramel all over your keyboard. But for now, outta my way...I'm carrying cheese! Eric
  9. ^ Teenager < Old Ager V Stone Ager!
  10. ^ They can do anything they want with the Sky Tower. However, I think at some point it will reopen. I do hope so...the view from up there is incredible! Eric
  11. "Hell, our cops are such Barney Fifes that when they had to break up a fight at PKI this summer, one pepper-sprayed himself." Sorry, Shari, but that's both funny and pathetic at the same time! Around our house, it's mom who's overprotective. Like you, we only have one child because we couldn't afford another one at the time (heck, we barely made our rent in those days!) Diana is 15 (this is her with me alongside her, taken at R&E's DVD party last week) and comes to me with all of her problems and concerns because she knows that I will calmly listen and offer advice. Mom just rants and threatens. Her friends think it's strange that she's closer to her dad than her mom because it's usually the other way round. However, I make the effort to meet not only Diana's friends, but their parents as well. When you know everyone involved, it makes trusting so much easier. The two of us have a lot of laughs, too! That's important. We live in a very safe, family-oriented city (and one with a high percentage of churchgoers), so I don't worry about her safety around here. She walks home from school, which is a mere mile-and-a-half, and hasn't had to deal with any questionable characters, save for a few jackasses who honk at her and a couple of cat-callers. Anyway, I do hope things change for you over time. It'd be sad if your DH loses touch with his only child. He ought to make the effort to get to know his daughter as not only his child, but as a friend, too. Eric "Diana's dad and friend" L.
  12. My mom covers all the bases: she calls it "soda pop." I call it soda. That's what it is, like it or not. Where did they get the term "pop" anyway? That sounds...stupid. Eric

    IAAPA

I always get a kick out of how a lot of enthusiasts want to go to the IAAPA show because they think that it's a big display put on just for them! It's a business trade show! Vendors are there to sell their rides, shows, and other amusement park-related items, not to answer questions from a bunch of kids! The show did make its way out to L.A. in 1993, and I was going to go, but the cost was rather high (I think nearly $200 if I recall), so I didn't. Also, because the L.A. Convention Center is rather space-challenged for that event, it won't be out here any time soon. Eric
  14. ^ Yep, all three! But I vote Psyclone as the worst. Eric
  15. ^^^ Um, that's an interesting vehicle to drive around, there, Flyingcoasterfreak. Is that a NABI, Neoplan, or AM General? At least you can take lots of friends and make 'em pay for gas on their way in! Eric
  16. I don't need a button to ignore anyone. And I can choose my friends without a button, too. Eric
  17. I didn't see this one, but being in Ventura County, it's a perfectly normal sight. They're kinda freaky, but cool at the same time. Eric
  18. ^^^ I hear ya, Wally. I'm in the same situation. Unfortunately, there isn't much out there in our area, so I'm holding onto this job (technical writer/illustrator). Actually, I like that kind of work, just not for this company. There are some stories I could tell, but won't here, about how our office is run. But you're right about politics. Working for a Navy contractor, we see a lot of that! And I'm glad to see that you've chosen to be responsible to your family and sticking it out anyway. A lesser person would just walk away. Eric
  19. Some people drive at the speed of cheese, but I don't know about swimming in it. If they dream of swimming in Swiss cheese, then you could say that they have holes in their head. Eric
  20. Californians don't know what rules are. They're all a bunch of free spirits. Eric "Lives in Calfornia anyway" L.
  21. TPR trading pins...sure to be a hit at the DLR! Eric
  22. Next time you start your car, make sure your socks didn't slip down to your ankles. If they did, check your oil. Eric
  23. ^ I'm diabetic, too, but I have Type 2 so I don't have to inject myself. Do take care of yourself...the consequences of not doing so aren't worth it. Anyway, a bit of a peeve of mine, minor as it is... I don't get this calling coasters "Ghosite," "Revie," "Goldie," etc. What, are these your pets? It just sounds...lame to me. Eric
  24. Uh...uh...TATSU!!!! Geshundheit! Eric
