What about Barnes & Noble? Has anyone tried them? Eric -
This is pretty nit-picky, but it bugs the hell out of me when people use an apostrophe in a plural. For instance, it's not "car's," it's "cars." And words like "gets" and "lots" don't have one either! "Get's" and "lot's?" What is that? Eric "Not an English major, but should have been one" L.

Retro Photo TR: Paramount Canada's Wonderland 1984-87.

Very nice photo TR. I hope we see more of these retro photo TRs. Makes me wish I'd taken pictures at the old Busch Gardens in L.A. back in the '70s. Eric -
^ I agree, though backwards Colossus was better back in the '80s when it ran the three-bench PTC trains and the parking lot side double dip was still there. Eric

I got up and took Diana to school, then headed up to the Honda dealer to get new wiper blades for my car. Then it was off to SFMM---on a whim, actually. I wasn't planning to go out there today. When I arrived, just before 10, there were hardly any cars in the lot. No tram service, either. The gates opened promptly at 10, and in I went. Revolution and X were closed (there was a crane next to X, no doubt to do something about the train still valleyed over there). I hadn't ridden Viper since 2001, so I decided to give it a courtesy ride. I have to admit that it wasn't bad. Only one train running, the orange striped one, and I sat in the front row. Next, I walked all the way through Rapids Camp Crossing, down through Cyclone Bay, and up to Samuari Summit to ride Ninja. It wasn't open, but since I didn't feel like going all the way back down and coming back up, I waited about 40 minutes for it to open. I was on the first train of the day and had a good ride. Over at Superman---The Escape, they were giving double rides. Just before it was my turn to get on, they let some FastLane people in right in front of me. When I did get on, we only got one ride. The ride op said that she had to stop doing that because the line was getting longer. That was not cool! I went down to ride Gold Rusher, but it was closed. So, I ate lunch instead at the Wharf. Done, I headed to Riddler's Revenge. One train running, but someone was kind enough to barf on it, so they had to clean it up and run it several cycles to dry off. I guess a mop or towels didn't cross their mind. I rode in back and it was a good ride. Next, I rode Batman---The Ride in the front row. Two trains running, so I waited all of about five minutes. A very intense ride this time. Completing a 1-2-3 SFMM B&M punch, I headed to Scream! After about a ten-minute wait, I got on in front and had a good ride. I wanted to ride Colossus backwards, and the Psyclone trains were waiting, but they didn't have that side open. For whatever reason, I decided to skip it. My day was topped off with a ride on Goliath. It took about 15 minutes to get to the second row with a one-train operation. Wonderful ride as always. Just for kicks, I rode Buccaneer on my way out. Nothing new construction-wise, but I did see all the markers by the Revolution waterfall and the new ride parts out beyond the parking lot. Eric

I locked Diana and myself out of the house a couple of weekends ago. Just replace Gregg with Diana going through her bedroom window, and you have our situation. Glad you enjoyed breakfast out. I don't do that very often, but when I do, I go to Denny's. Eric

^ You are correct, the article did say "premium parking." However, look at how fast even the regular parking has gone up. Just a couple of years ago it was $7. Eric -

I do agree with raising the prices on season passes. Then they'll stop being used as cheap babysitters. This year, I got SFMM's Xtreme Play Pass for $125, and I've more than gotten my money's worth out of it. The place to raise money is not by increasing parking fees. $10 is already too much just to leave your car. Fast food outlets inside the parks aren't a bad idea, but charging a premium isn't right. My wife used to travel more on business, and she said that the city of Pittsburgh, PA, has a law where food vendors within the airport must charge comparable rates to the same ones outside of the airport, that is, the regular ones along the roads. $8 Big Macs just aren't right. Besides, keeping food prices reasonable will, in my opinion, increase sales because value priced food will encourage guests to spend more on it rather than having meals outside the park before or after the visit. More family attractions? Yes! Coaster after coaster after coaster is just wrong and it leaves out family members who prefer other types of attractions. People go to theme parks to escape regular life, which is why I've never understood having advertising thrust in our face when we go to a park. I remember when SFMM had their TVs going in line and watching the very same commercials that I saw at home encouraging us to "come to Six Flags Magic Mountain!..." Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't I already there? Six Flags' future is going to be...interesting... Eric -
