  1. Like some of you have said, a new track with the same layout will be just fine. A smoother ride works, too. Eric
  2. Why would any ride designer intentionally create a ride that causes its riders to black out? That thought is just...out there. Besides which, most rides have warnings out in front, at which time, you can decide for yourself whether you should ride. To my knowledge, no one is ever made to ride anything. Eric
  3. That looks like a typical Japanese park (from what you guys have shown us). Family Banana Coaster? Eric
  4. ^ I would pay good money to watch you drink a whole case of that. Beverly = Liquid failure in a bottle. Eric
  5. OK, time to hear from a senior citizen (and, yes, they had kissing back then...). Anyway, mine was back in the mid-'70s, long before most of you were born---or even thought of! It was with a nice girl from church; Leslie was her name. We never did much more than simply lock lips. Then, a couple of years later, I met Cheryl. I won't say more than "it was niiiccceee..." Eric
  6. ^^ Where's the picture of the kitty? Eric
  7. Very nice Photo TR. For whatever reason, I've never had a yearning desire to go to Silver Dollar City, but the more I see and hear about it, the more I'd like to visit the park someday. Thanks for sharing. Eric
  8. ^ I remember the name, but can't recall exactly what it did. Eric
  9. ^ One thing I do on X is to cross my legs at the ankles. It does cut down on the leg-flinging somewhat, but it would be nice to be able to put your legs into something secure and not have to worry about that. Eric
  10. I always wondered what it would be like to ride a suspended coaster sitting backwards. SFAW turned around some of the cars on XLR-8, but, as I've said, I never rode that, so I missed out. Imagine Ninja at SFMM doing something like that for Fright Fest. Eric
  11. ^ Well, they scream, but no one can hear them... Eric
  12. Yep, at 2am! Do you like riding escalators?
  13. Those "scream shields" are on Maliboomer for the same reason they put that shed over GhostRider's first drop at Knott's. It helps keep the noise down. My personal feeling is that if you don't like that kind of noise, don't buy a home next to a theme park. Eric
  14. If I remember correctly, Randy Giesler (ACE's president in the early '90s) got to take a spin on the Arrow prototype and said it was an enjoyable ride and it had potential. I guess TOGO's Ultra Twister is more or less the same thing. Eric
  15. Because it's at the bottom part of our country. EVERYONE knows that heat rises. How come there aren't more chocolate chips in a typical chocolate chip cookie?
  16. ^ I "lavendered" out once on Goliath. Seriously, I have no problems with it. Keeping my eyes closed in the helix helps quite a bit. Eric
  17. Nice TR! Glad y'all had fun. My last visit to the DLR was back in April, so I guess I'm about due. Eric
  18. My problem with X is the way my feet get thrown around. I learned long ago to apply the restraints as tightly as I can, and I'm not uncomfortable. What I think they should have done on the new trains is to incorporate some sort of restraint for the legs or ankles. The ones on Tatsu work well, and something like that would have been welcome here. I may give X2 one try, but I have a feeling I'll be disappointed anyway. Eric
  19. My own experience with Viper is that it is rather rough, but, strangely, my last ride on it was almost glass smooth. That was just over a year ago. One thing I remember about Viper is that during its first season, as the train rounded the wide turn after the first loop, that track shook like crazy. That's why the extra cross supports were added to it. Also, it was repainted a deep orange (its original color) a few years back. Being in the red family, it will fade quickly. But nowadays, paint just doesn't hold up regardless of the color because it is formulated to be more environmentally friendly (less or no lead and other changes from what I understand). Brakes? I can't comment on any of that. I will say, though, that large Arrow rides don't age well, given my experience with Viper and Desperado. SFGAm took out their Shockwave, and I've heard that SFGAd's Great American Scream Machine has gotten rough as well. Heck, Viper's pushing 20 years old, believe it or not, so even though it may still draw a crowd, I think SFMM may call it a day with that ride at some point. Eric
  20. Diana doesn't post here, but her middle name is Mari (MAH-ree). That's a Japanese name that we gave her to reflect her mom's culture. Strangely, it was only recently that I found out what it means---"ball." When I told Diana that, she said, "You guys named me 'ball'?" But it is pretty and flows with her entire name. Perhaps that's where the name of the game "Katamari Damacy" comes from. Remember, it's a ball that you push around to collect stuff. Eric
  21. Some Burger Kings have Vault on their soda fountains. Now if only Target had Vault Zero Icees... Eric
  22. ^ I can sympathize with your mom, being that I'm a member of the diabetes club myself. Just a tip...the pie may be sugar free, but do check the carb count anyway. Oftentimes, despite being sugar free, some foods can crank up your blood sugar. Trust me on that. But I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. We did, too. Eric
  23. ^^ I used to get canker sores when I was a lot younger, but for some reason they went away. It's been years since I had one. My rant today is that I wanted to get up a lot earlier than 1:30pm. I did get up at 7am, but went back to sleep. Apparently, I must have needed the sleep, and sleeping in the most comfortable bed in the world helps keep those eyelids closed... Eric
  24. I don't like cowboys from anywhere. Do you go to theme parks on holidays?
  25. ^ Very nice of you. I'll bet you made that guy's day---if not more. About Rosie O'Donnell...well, you can have her. Eric
