  1. Just got back from the park with the rest of the Penn Band, so I'll give a quasi-TR, because I'm pretty tired. I also took some okay pictures, and unless someone really wants to see them I don't have the energy to post them right now. Anyway, what I'm sure you're all wondering about: Skyrush! I literally gasped when I first saw it from a few miles away. The word that comes to mind every time I saw it was "monolith." Unless you're right in The Hollow or Rhineland, all you can see is that huge yellow arch; but you can see it throughout like half the park. It's so mysterious and lightheartedly ominous (nothing that brilliant of a yellow can be fully ominous) and I love it so much. I also saw it testing a little bit, and it's so fun to watch in person. It flies over the first two hills, and I couldn't really see the rest of the layout from where I was sitting (Rhineland Nathan's Hot Dogs), but it looked fast and thrilling the whole time. It seemed almost surreal watching this thing running in person when I've been watching it from a screen for so long. Around 2 pm there was a train stopped on the lift hill; I assumed that they were testing it stopped on various points on the lift, and then they sloooowly inched it over the crest of the lift. Also, I could see SDL's orange train(s? I only saw one) from Great Bear's lift hill; looked pretty swell. As for the rest of the park: Sidewinder's new restraints are really comfortable, they make the ride experience ten times better, and I wish every single boomerang in the world would get them. Also, I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but they were trying this thing I've never seen before where they would close off a line to a car or row on every coaster, and once the train was filled up, sometimes they would call out for single riders and sometimes they'd just leave the car/row empty. I don't know if they're trying a new system throughout the coasters or what, but it was really inefficient and, well, sh*tty. Finally, it was some sort of music day for middle schools and high schools, because the park was just inundated with some of the worst-behaved kids ever. It made me feel really old being disgusted by their behavior. Makes me look forward to being actually old and curmudgeonly Anyway, I've rambled enough, time to pass out. If you have any questions, ask me!
  2. I am also at a loss as to why the world isn't just lousy with Intamin pre-fabs. I thought the whole point of them was that they're quick to build and reliable and enjoyable.
  3. Although I never had the 'privilege' of riding SoB, I hope that this is true. The whole thing is taking up some valuable real estate that could be used for a new star attraction, or maybe just a bunch of flat rides, or anything really. Anything is better than it sitting there and rotting away.
  4. What bothers you about the straps? I was wondering why the outside had the straps, but not the inside.
  5. Poor Hershey's Cocoa got snubbed in that second picture
  6. Yikes! Sounds like they need to grease them up a bit more or something.
  7. I don't think anyone here has had a view that can be considered uncivilized or irrational... just views that are different from yours.
  8. Oh man, he is about to have his world rocked if he does any more investigating on this.
  9. Is there a wall that's covered up by the track and train? Because right now it looks like there's a weird tree mirage thing on the right side of the train. Freaky!
  10. My thoughts exactly. The moment I realized I was looking at the inside of the show building I closed the video. Gotta keep it a surprise for... whenever I go to BGW next.
  11. I can imagine the call to the iron Workers Union 404: Hershey: "Hey, you know that Skyride or whatever that you guys just built at our park?" 404: "...You mean Skyrush? Yes of course, we spent the whole winter and spring building it. We're really proud of our work, and we hope you are too." Hershey: "Yeah, about that. We heard people on this one forum complaining about how it's too short, and the zero-car looks kinda weird. So if you could just, like, take it down, that would be super." 404: "But, we just... it took so long to... and what's a zero car? I just..." Hershey: "Yeah yeah, time is money, I know. And while you're at it, could you take down that Black Bear ride too? You know that bit after the corkscrew? Y'know how it's literally the only way that the track could logically and cost-effectively be threaded through like 3 different rides? That's not good enough for this... Teeper forum either. Take it down." 404: "What? Why would you... But that was like 15 years ago... I'm not even sure if we worked on that..." Hershey: "Alright, we'll put you on the schedule! Thanks a bunch!"
  12. I think I read many pages ago that there won't be any trims on this. Which is most excellent. Two runs in and it's already looking insane!
  13. The feng shui of Skyrush is all wrong! It's stupid and I hate it and it's the worst coaster ever!
  14. The park is more or less L-shaped, so I'm pretty sure that blank space is unavoidable.
  15. Looks like that vertical loop fell over a bit I really like the way this looks!
  16. Just caught the first Great Adventure advertisement on Travel Channel. The only two rides it mentions by name are Nitro and Sky Screamer, but it also had shots of Kingda Ka, El Toro... and an SLC Looks like it really is theme park season!
  17. From Screamscape: Personally, I'm a little bit sad that it might not be a complete circuit; I would take a full-circuit coaster over a shuttle any day (disclaimer: I have not ridden a Schwarzkopf shuttle loop since 1999 )
  18. More track has been made! Things are starting to look pretty interesting... The segment in that second photo looks like a pretty steep drop! Talk amongst yourselves.
  19. How low is the water table at Cedar Point? I would imagine you wouldn't have to go very deep before your tunnel starts flooding (that's what she said? ). This is also assuming that Cedar Point is looking for a 250-foot hyper... we still have almost no idea what they'll be getting. At least I don't. All 2013 speculation has been buried under arguments about Fast Lane.
  20. Because Hersheypark doesn't want the paint to get scratched, or else enthusiasses will complain. Oh wait, they will find something else to complain about anyway. What's the closest enthusiasts have come to being fully satisfied with a coaster?
  21. WHY CAN'T THEY TAKE THAT PADDING OFF???
  22. Looks like if you have a long-handled wire cutter you could take care of that trim brake
  23. I'm getting a real 'Nigerian Prince' vibe from this rumor... Also, speaking of rumors, has anyone heard anything new about the green maybe-Wingrider track? That thread has been pretty quiet lately.
