  1. ^Getting off subject, but in the last two years Elitch Gardens has gone from a park I would never want to visit again, to being one of my favorites. On my last visit this summer the park was beautiful and all of the rides were running well. (Only downside was 1-train operation at Twister 2). Two years prior, I remember the park appearing dirty, rundown, and with terrible employees. Hopefully Darien Lake can improve in the same way Elitch's has been able to. As for the 1-train complaints, isn't that common at almost every small park? Knoebels is known for their amazing operations - last time I was there both wooden coasters were running one train. At SFNE, Bizarro was the only ride running multiple trains. It happens everywhere. Yeah, it's annoying, but it really doesn't make sense to run multiple trains all of the time, especially on the shorter rides such as MotoCoaster and Mind Eraser.
  2. ^^ I didn't see any red supports on Sunday. Zumanjaro's queue gives a good view of the lot behind Ka, so if there were supports there it would have been pretty obvious.
  3. That looks really fun! Those Maurer spinners are great, and the lighting will only make it better.
  4. ^I think Runaway Mine Train is the only major roller coaster where you can leave your belongings in bins. However, you can leave your bags on the flats platforms.
  5. To anyone planning on going to the water park today, Hurricane Harbor closed at 2 due to inclement weather.
  6. FunCoaster (and I'm guessing all of the SBF Visa Mouses) hit the brakes really hard. I can still feel the pain.
  7. Half Pipe at Elitch Gardens.... It was much rougher than the last time I rode it.
  8. Somebody at Great Adventure History just reported that they were cutting down trees around Nitro's hammerhead turn today, most likely as a response to the Ninja incident.... I really hope this was just a random coincidence. It would be a shame if the part removed some of the beautiful old trees as a result of a freak accident that happened on the other side of the country.
  9. As expected, Zumanjaro was not open to passholders today. However, the park was empty. I left at about 3 and most of the rides were sending trains with empty rows still! Even the water rides were walk-ons (and it was almost 100 degrees). Is it just me or does the park seem more run down this season? For example, Nitro's queue is filthy and the trains look bad (although they ride well). The fort also looked like it could use a new coat of paint. Landscaping was also generally awful throughout the park. How hard would it be to pull the weeds in El Toro and Nitro's queues? I also witnessed some of the worst staff ever at the park today. Nitro's lead was the least attentive operator I have ever seen. The foods staff were also quite rude. Not only was Best of the West closed at about noon, but none of the staff outside would even answer whether or not it would be opening, or give suggestions of where else to eat.

  12. The drop looks like it goes on forever! I can't wait to ride it Thursday.
  13. Blue Fire SBF Visa Spinning Coaster (MX52)

  15. New Jersey had one of the worst winters in years... Jersey had a snowstorm almost every week, which is uncommon here. They also had to remove an old coaster (extremely carefully too) and all of the footers, and they had to add additional supports to Ka's tower. I don't really blame Six Flags for the delays. They even worked hard to be able to open Kingda Ka on weekends, which they didn't have to do.
  16. West Coast - Lana Del Rey.... Her new album is simply amazing.
  17. Jet Star 2 - Lagoon
  18. ^Ka is running weekends only until Zumanjaro opens.
  19. Medusa looks amazing!! I think I may have to go to Mexico...
  20. Chiller didn't duel because of it's power consumption, not because of safety concerns. If both sides launched at the same time parts of the park and Jackson lost power (sometimes, not always).
  21. StratosFear at Knoebels. Towers double the size can't even compete with it.
