Track of the week: THE END? Greetings to our loyal players, After 25 weeks of play, Track of the Week is going to be taking a break for a while. So, for our last challenge, we're going to do one last big blast of fun: In honor of Ron Toomer's passing, the final Track of the Week will be: RCT II: Arrow Mine Train OR Arrow Hypercoaster DRESSED as a Mine train. You have until Friday October 14th to get your track in- that's almost TWO WEEKS, and anything goes here: Do your best track to honor how Ron Toomer would have built a Mine Train (He did, after all, create the very first one!) RULES: 1.) No Custom Scenery 2.) YOU MAY NOT USE HACKS, TRAINERS OR 8CARS. 3.) SCENERY IS REQUIRED! (Yes, you read that right, I'd like to see how well people use Mine and Western themes for this ride.) 4.) Your Mine train must BE a MINE TRAIN: If you use the Hypercoaster track for this, it cannot have 150 foot drops, etc. It must retain the feel of a Mine Train Coaster! SUBMIT YOUR TRACKS TO THE EXCHANGE! Anybody who gets their tracks in THIS WEEK will get the full points bonus for judging! IF YOU POST A LINK TO YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT, and you post a screen shot here, YOU WILL GET A 100 POINT BONUS! AND.... as if this going away party weren't enough... There will be TWO winners: The first winner will get a TPR Bag of CRAP, the second will get a 1,000 point bonus in their account- enough for TWO TPR DVD Downloads! So let's send off the Track of the Week with a bang- let's see your Mine Trains!

Short, satisfying, to the point. Works for me! (Except the sex ed part, I still don't quite understand that...) -

Awesome shots, AJ- and they look like some great rides that ProSlide Canada might build if they had some balls... Any chance you'll be working on a racing/dueling slide in the future? -

Congratulations on you first park, but if you'd please help us out a bit: If you're going to post, put up more than two or three pictures- and give us some details, please. One pic then two hours later another pic, that's a no-no. Thank you- and keep up the good work. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team -
OK, so I'll post the last ToTW for a while up today (We already announced this week, and there are a few people interested; I'm dedicating it to Ron Toomer for appropriate tie-in.) TPR Challenge for next month (October) is a RCT II scenario - all 'non-intense' rides for the nausea prone; I think this one will get some atention; more details to be forthcoming. Novemeber challenge is a mystery to me; still trying to figure out something: Perhaps roll the T-Day Themed Track contest into that in place of the TPR Challenge/use the TPR challenge AS the themed track contest?
-
Hmmmm... Idea there: Theming up the ToTW contests for the holiday periods: For T-Day, have a 'Pilgrim/new to North America theme; for X-mas, well, I've got a soft spot for Futurama, and would love to do a X-MAS themed track- something akin to SantaBot's return via track; For NYD, something related to Hangovers... er... Inappropriate consumption of alcohol. (Inverted/SLC).
-
I'm sort of for that, after this week's contest: I'm a bit 'thin' on ideas right now, and think mabye a four to six week break might be in order- at least till more ideas can be funneled in.
-
Sure- I can help- what time are we starting?
-
In a nutshell, the last two RCT III contests we had a total of -three- entries- one for one contest, and two for another. That was a pretty good clue that there was no interest in them. If we could see a show of support for RCT III contests, I think we'd consider running them more often. There is a lot of talent playing RCT III- but nobody entering the contests for it. R.D. GFMT

Track of the week for 9/16/11 is closed- A winner will be announced shortly. Track of the week 9/23/11: RCT II Wild Mouse (Steel, not wooden, not spinning)- Theme: A rodent's world. Add some toys, hay, etc. It makes your mouse happy. Track of the week 9/30/11: RCT II Arrow Mine Train- I'm opening this one up a bit: You MAY use Arrow Hypercoaster track AS WELL as Mine-train track, so long as you stick by these guidelines: No lift may be higher than 75 feet, and YOU MUST THEME THE COASTER LIKE A MINE TRAIN! For theming, you may use either Mine or Western theme packages. The Prize? This week: Your rodent will gain you 1,000 Games Forum Points- enough for TWO downloadable DVDs from the TPR store. As always, no hacks, no cheats, no trainers and no customs at all. Good luck!

Video TR: Frontier City
QueerRudie replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Outstanding footage, Chad... yet again. I've watched the video four times in a row... AHEM. As for the train: That train is original from that particular LoopingStar, a Mk1a train (Speedracer MK1a)- and features the first generation nose plates on it. A handful of Schwarzkopf coasters featured the box-nose configuration. Most operators chose the smoother, round nose option for their looping coaters. -

The TPR Games Forum Moderators Random Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Games Forum Moderators
Yeah- I sent him a PM re: Reviving dead threads an hour ago- gave him a 'polite but firm ' don' do that again loocy. He's reviving shit that's his own threads, too- and the last one was where he setup a rule for his "Guess the park" thread that he couldn't even abide by. I'd say keep an eye on him... but I think that goes without saying. R.D. -
PTR: Going North into the Deep South
QueerRudie replied to WillMontu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR! The Schwarzporn pics are amazing- and to answer your question: "Was Anton Crazy or A genius?"... Mindbender was the first trial run of the Cone and Plug system for His steel coasters- it was later refined into the system that was used on almost all of his remaining coasters. The unique supports we saw on Saturday were designed into the ride as if the ride were intended to be a portable (Standardization was a key hallmark with Anton's rides) but since Mindbender is (most obviously!) not a portable, the steel understructure that would have linked them together was never needed- or even delivered with the ride. So the answer is clear: Anton IS a Genius. (But then again, I might be biased...) -
Shane's Amusement Attic
QueerRudie replied to montezooma's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Shane- I finally got to sit down and go through the Aero World update- and I'll admit, after that last update I'm a bit moist now. Being a Schwarzkopfian-minded fella, seeing the idea of an aircraft-carrier themed shuttle loop is beyond perfect. It's a shame Sandy Eggo never got their own hard-core park like Aero World, as I think it would still be a hit today, especially with the changes that have occured in flying in the 25 plus years since Aero World's proposal. Once again, a stellar job all over... and what are the chances of some Schwarzporn coming up this season? R.D. -
During DSB I found these signs... and for some reason, they apply to a pretty good chunk of TPR... Hmmmm... Ummm... yeah... (For some reason, I wanted to get a few of our fellow TPR members NEXT to these signs...)
