  1. Who the hell rides a roller coaster to feel safe anyway?
  2. I like plenty of comedies on TV. Modern Family, New Girl and 30 Rock are among my favorites. Unfortunately they seem to have stopped showing 30 Rock here in Australia. I also like some crime shows, my favorite being Bones.
  3. Togo. They built some ok looking rides (Bandit, Ultratwisters), while all of RCCA's coasters seem absolutely crap. HUSS or Mondial?
  4. Granted, but it'll be replaced with a clone of Goudurix. I wish I could move to Manhattan.
  5. In regards to a line jumping sign and fast-track/fastpass type systems. What?
  6. They have. Many of their newer designs really arent too bad at all, many are actually quite smooth and enjoyable (Expedition Everest, Battlestar Galactica, their motorbike launch coasters). I think their mine train coasters are quite enjoyable as well. And now that they've developed new restraints for their sitdown/boomerang coasters and their SLC's that eliminate headbanging I think they're finally leaving their days of painful, crappy coasters.
  7. Gotta love the GP on the Facebook page complaining about how Cedar Fair sucks and that SoB was the greatest coaster of all time. One even stated how this is a major loss for coaster enthusiasts to lose their "beloved SoB". Beloved by whom? I mean really?
  8. ^ I know the Gravity Group have/had a concept launched coaster. I guess no park has risked pursuing it yet.
  9. Granted, but it costs an extra fee per use. I wish Australia could get a hyper coaster.
  10. Stunning park. Very well done! It has a great sense of realism that's hard to get in RCT3.
  11. 1. Lethal Weapon at Movieworld, though it's now been changed to Arkham, I haven't ridden it since the makeover. 2. Infusion at Pleasure Beach Blackpool, a typical SLC though not quite as bad as Lethal Weapon. I agree with the comment about Vekomas over water, this one really did look so pretty and harmless. 3. Grand National at Pleasure Beach Blackpool. I'm not sure if it's because it was raining or if I just caught it on a bad day but god it was rough. The airtime made up for it though. 4. Wild Mouse at Pleasure Beach Blackpool. Very rough and violent, but that's exactly what makes it so awesome. 5. The Big One at Pleasure Beach Blackpool. Very rough though somewhat enjoyable. Honorable mentions go to Colossus at Thorpe Park and Cyclone at Dreamworld.
  12. A Kingda Ka-like coaster with multiple launches, a record breaking loop and the longest track length of any coaster in the world? Seems legit.
  13. This looks awesome! Only Japan can manage to sneak in something as unique as a launched spinning coaster without anybody in the coaster community hearing about it until after its opened!
  14. There being no stores left in the world. What's worse than amusement rides becoming illegal in every country in the world except China?
  15. This is a little frightening, especially considering I was on this Rita only a month ago.
  16. ^ Sorry to disapoint you, but no. I've ridden plenty of toboggan rides and I'm not a big fan of them. And I don't actually remember seeing the rabbit ride. Park #5: Alton Towers, Staffordshire Alton Towers is a fantastic park. They have a decent coaster collection (with one standout), beautiful theming and great landscaping. Unfortunately, despite being a weekday it was quite busy at the park. However we were lucky enough that we timed each ride correctly and only had to queue for 15 minutes for most rides. The longest we had to queue was 60 minutes for Thirteen, which was not worth it. At all. We didn't get to ride Nemesis Sub Terra due to it maintaining a 45 minute plus queue all day, but from reports of the ride it doesnt sound like I missed out on too much. On to the pics. (Sorry if this update isn't that great, I was in a rush to get it done before school). This is a MUCH better use of crappy Vekoma track than what it was originally intended for. Welcome to what is probably the UK's prettiest park. We started off on my most anticipated coaster of the trip - Nemesis! Riding in the front seat I found Nemesis a little dissapointing. It was fun, but nowhere near as intense as I expected. However, a later ride in the back seat cast any doubt from my mind - Nemesis kicks ass! I can confidently say that nobody else has ever taken this photo. You really get whipped through the inversions. This is where the Air Shop pump all their leftover rasberry slushie at the end of the day. Ooh, artsy. Kinda. Nemesis' neighbour, Air, was fun. It was my first flying coaster, so to me it was quite a unique experience. If I found THIS fun, I can't wait to try Tatsu some day. We caught the skycar to the Dark Forest to try Thirteen. Thirteen was cool, its drop element was very fun, and took me by surprise. The theming in the queue is very effective and the soundtrack very creepy. The outdoor coaster section was OK, but it would've been much better if it weren't for the TRIMBRAKES on the first drop. WTF Intamin? Rita wasn't as good as I expected, it definitely didn't live up to Stealth or Superman Escape. This launch felt fairly weak. Airtime here? LOL, nope. Oblivion was great. It had some great airtime and intensity on the drop, and the tunnel was very cool. I was also pleased to see very little lines for it due to it running SIX trains! This is Oblivion. It goes down. Yup... Last ride of the day was Sonic Spinball. It was fun, but fairly uncomfortable and almost "scary" for some reason. I wasn't sure wether I loved it or hated it. A puzzling end to an awesome day! Final stop of the trip: Pleasure Beach Blackpool.
  17. After riding Giant Drop at Dreamworld, I'd have to say that. I've never been brave enough to ride it until last saturday, and getting on I was a nervous wreck. Oddly though, once I was at the top it felt almost surreal, and I felt too safe to be scared. It was a great ride, I lapped it about 6 times that day.
  18. I agree, for some bizarre reason I wanted to jump right back on after I'd gotten off.
  19. I sometimes find it tricky to find the right order. I mean, sometimes you ride something and you instantly know where it goes on your list, while other times it's very hard to tell. For example, when I went on Revolution at Pleasure Beach I rated it an instant 8 (no joke, I thought it was great). When I went on Air at Alton Towers, I rated it a solid 7. However, I think Air is definitely superior to Revolution, despite the fact Air is a 7 and Revolution is an 8. So I have no idea how to order rides like that.
  20. Park #3: Oakwood Theme Park, Wales I somehow managed to convince my mum to drive me out to Wales on our 4 day trip on the way up to Scotland to visit Oakwood Theme Park. I was looking forward to this park as it seemed to have two excellent coasters. It was overall a nice park with some pleasant landscaping, however it's really only a half day park, especially if every ride is a walk-on like they were on our trip. Welcome to Oakwood! I spy a Eurofighter I'd heard great things about Speed, many call it the world's best Eurofighter. However I have to say I preferred Saw. Speed just didn't seem as intense, and had a very rough spot before the loop. However its airtime hill is INSANE. This section is a headache. Literally. The helix was quite intense. I don't know if I'll ever get used to vertical lift hills. I did forget to mention how awesome Speed's drop was, if not as awesome as Saw's. The next coaster was Megafobia, my first "proper" woodie. It was great - gave an out of control experience with plenty of airtime and laterals. However, while the front seat provides some "fun" roughness, the back seat just hurt, and actually gave me a headache. However the back seat also provided awesome airtime on the first drop. Regardless of any roughness, Megafobia has a beautiful setting and is the real centrepiece of the park. And on the other side of the structure it has SHEEP! Bounce was okay, I didn't know Huss made spaceshot type rides, but I have to say I prefer the S&S versions. The launch was okay, but there was no airtime and the drop from the top was very tame. As awesome as it looked, I didn't try Drenched. Mainly because I hate water rides, and this one looked very wet. Now THAT is steep. Next stop is Alton Towers, home to my new No. 1 Coaster (doesn't take a genius to tell which one that'll be )
  21. I think being in an enclosed car would completely take away from the experience and greatly lessen the sense of speed. For example, being in an open coaster car at 60mph is a hell of a lot more exciting than being in a road car at 60mph.
  22. Wow, I had no idea construction had started on this yet, let alone finished!
  23. Haha I did consider riding it, but I didn't want to sink quite that low.
