  1. I started my first semester of law school two weeks ago. So far it isn't as bad as I had thought, though I'm finding Civil Procedure to be a lot harder than expected.
  2. I'm a republican, but in the more classical sense rather than the modern sense...
  3. Cloud seeding is going to make it rain when they decided that they want rain... Basically what they are going to do is pump silver iodine into the cloud, which in turn will turn the supercooled water into ice, which are then heavy enough to fall. There has been some good results with it, but it is still debated if seeding actually does much. That is basically how the process works, however just a word of warning, I got this out of a lower division college class on weather in which I only got an A-, so I can promise you that it is much more complex then what I stated above. Edit: Just as a side note so I don't confuse anybody, I know there are a couple other ways cloud seeding works, however I'm not sure how those work, as I was only required to learn the Silver Iodine method. The Silver Iodine method is the most common so it is a fair guess that Alton Towers is going about it that way. Just so that you're all aware that there is more than one way to seed a cloud.
  4. Honestly I've been living in Lubbock for less than a month, so I'm not really sure what the hold up is. There is some mention on the website about soil problems, which leads me to believe that soil could very possibly be the problem.
  5. Keeping true to my word, I made it over to the area around Joyland today. I didn't make it into the park, since it's a lot cheaper to go during the week. However despite that I did look for things going on around there. I can say without much doubt that there is nothing going on. Again I didn't make it in, however I walked about 20 feet away from where there ride is being placed. I didn't even see evidence of dirt being pushed around. I'll keep an eye on it and let you all know if I ever see anything.
  6. Did not have enough time this summer for another book in the Jack Ryan series, so I started the Jason Bourne series. That alone should clue people in on my favorite type of book.
  7. Eh why not: California (where I've live most of my life) Texas (where I'm moving in two weeks) Arizona New Mexico Nevada Oregon New Jersey New York Colorado (only inside of Denver airport.)
  8. ^Is there mention of American Independence Day in England? I've always assumed that it would be a slightly sore subject.
  9. I'll add my name to the list of people who came through Gooses Realm of Insantity. It is hard to believe how long ago that was now!
  10. I actually believe that Roaring Rapids is the biggest power hog in the park.
  11. We do both American and World History, it just depends what grade your in. Now to be fair, I think that High School history is, in fact, a complete waste of time. We don't learn history as much as memorize dates, and pointless things that really will never help you at all. I could leave a long rant here about things like learning the preamble to the constitution, but not reading the physical document as well as my other complaints, but I'll save that for another day.
  12. It's interesting to hear how peoples parents relate to the coaster hobby. Back in the day (well 7 or so years ago) when I first got into the hobby, my dad did as well to a degree. Never as much as I did, but I brought him along on a few media days and he enjoyed it. He'd also post on RRC (does anybody even use RRC anymore?) every so often.
  13. For fun I like the Jack Ryan book by Tom Clancy. As far as the last book I actually looked at, I read a few pages out of The Rise of American Democracy, which, if you ever are curious about how the Constitution came into existance in the most dense and detailed fashion, this book is for you!
  14. When I was in Lubbock (home of Joyland) back in April I didn't see much work going on. Granted I was looking from the freeway in a town I had never been in before, so I might have missed it. I'll be out there for a week in June and then I'll be moving out there in July, so if nobody else comes through by that point, I'll keep you all updated.
  15. My first coaster was Ninja, back around when I was 6-7ish.
  16. Worst class ever was History of Russia. So much information that it made me want to claw my eyes out.
  17. When I worked on Summit for a short time there was a working TV near where I was. I recall it playing Faint by Linkin Park, something by Simple Plan, a band that sounded exactly like Incubus but was not really Incubus, and the single most annoying song in history, something by Junior Senior. So there always has been, to at least some degree, modern pop music playing up at Summit.
  18. I get asked that question a lot! I'm sure that at some point I will end up giving the park a try. It's a long drive from there to any of the Six Flags parks, which does upset me a bit.
  19. I'm wondering when Greezed Lightnin' will actually open out there. I was there a few weeks ago and we drove by the area where the park is, and I didn't notice any signs of verticle construction. As far as I can tell that would make logical sense since there appearently isn't any signs of ground work either yet. All I know about the park otherwise however is what I got from RCDB.
  20. Next year I'll be leaving the sunny skies of Southern California and moving out to (well I guess they're also sunny) Lubbock, Texas. Amongst the many changes in front of me, is my home town park will be changing. So my question is, has anyone actually been to Joyland in Lubbock, Tx? The only ride i know about there is Greezed Lightnin' (which I guess is still nowhere near opening). Anybody else been there and can give me an idea if it is worth peeling myself away from the books (going there for law school, if any of you are wondering who the hell moves to Lubbock) to go visit?
  21. Hmm... It did look like UCLA in the background which is why I asked... Funny thing is that I walk past that spot almost every single day, and yet I noticed nothing going on there. That had to be a quick setup and clean up.
  22. My Finals 4: Florida UCLA Ohio St. Texas My pick to win it all: UCLA over OSU
  23. The Kings actually have gotten most of their first round picks in 2008, which gives support to this being a weak draft class.
  24. Is there really schools getting rid of the Valedictorians? Several of the Law Schools I've applied to post rankings for everybody and their mother to see. Some of them have a mercy clause in effect, where after a certain precentage they'll stop giving exact number rankings, (so we can't see who's last) however there are a few that post the rank of every single student in the class. I think if you're the Valedictorian you shuold be honored, they don't have to make a scene out of the "slower" kids, but they should reward the smart.
