  1. I have been a huge Kings Fan for the past 13 years or so. It's hard at times yes, but they are my team and I won't abandon them. I believe we are offically out of the playoffs for this year now, but the future does actually look bright. We'll have high picks both this year and next. not to mention a core around Frolov, Kopitar (spelling?), and Jack Johnson. Give it some time and I think the Kings will actually be a force in the west.
  2. Right now I'm sitting in the library at UCLA a week away from finals posting on this thread, so that right there is a good example that the internet can be a distraction. However I think the bigger problem is that many kinds lack the self control to get up and leave the computer when it is time to buckle down and study... And now since I feel guilty for posting here and being lazy, I'm going to learn about the German Mefo bill.
  3. It's the ONLY family friendly coaster in the park. Besides Canyon Blaster and Goliath Jr, it's the only coaster somebody under 48" can ride. ) Don't forget about Gold Rusher, that is a decent family coaster as well.
  4. ^I have to agree, Grizzly at PGA is far worse then Psyclone ever was.
  5. I don't remember when Psyclone opened, but I recall the huge lines for Flashback when it opened. I was still a kid at the time, but recall my Dad being bummed because the line was a few hours long and he wanted to ride it. As far as Psyclone, while I can't remember when it opened (though I have some memory of Shockwave being in its place, so my guess is I just didn't visit the park that year) I do remember when the park ran it backwards for Halloween. As far as loving the park, I'm a huge defender of the park, however that ride was just plain bad. I'll admit that I'm slightly bummed that Flashback is coming out, because I always enjoyed that ride to some extent. I agree it was rough and could have used a degree of redesign, but I always thought that there was a good coaster in there somewhere. Psyclone in my opinion just never had anything that amde me want to ride it.
  6. I'm not sure how quickly that actually it, I can't imagin that it is terribly difficult to remove a wooden coaster. I don't recall how long Texas Cyclone took to come down, but I recall it being done in a day or so. I think Flashback might take a bit longer to remove, but nothing substantial. Yes I meant the cyclone, sorry about the confusion.
  7. I noticed in one of Robb's pictures the old Psyclone sign is still standing. I hope they pull that out quickly. For some reason it has always annoyed me when there has been signs advertisting something that no longer exists. I assume thought that the park will get that thing out soon enough.
  8. Isn't that pretty much how the whole park is? True, it should be taken that my statment was conditional upon the assumption that Magic Mountain has some kind of theming.
  9. I'm curious if the theme around the whole "Cyclone Bay" (was it Pysclone or Cyclone bay?) has changed at all. It'll be interesting to see how that area changes now, without having a trademark (yeah I'm ignoring Deja Vu) ride back there, that they can really theme around. Even if a Wiggles/Thomas the Tank area is placed where Psyclone was, it seems as the park is going to have a patch of the park with little to no theme.
  10. I actually believe that the shed which housed the transfer track was the station house for the Bobsleds, and I'm unclear exactly where Shockwave was stationed. I recall Shockwave being at the park when I was a little (say 3ish) however beyond it simply existing, I can't really remember much about the specifics of it.
  11. ^Yeah but the Bobsleds and Shockwave both left due to the ride rotation program. I've been on neither, so I cannot comment on if they sucked.
  12. Congratulations, I wish the best to all three of you.
  13. Key club days I remember kids running around the park much more, during Cheer days most of the girls (this is, of course, depending on the event) end up staying near Golden Bear. Those events last basically all day.
  14. When I was working at the park I would always hate when cheer weekends would come around. Since I often ran the sound for them I got to deal with all of those teams first hand. The best people were the cheerleaders or coachs that stood there and watched, the worst ones tended to be parents of young kids who told me their entire life history. While running cheer however I do have some of my most unique memories from the park, including two job offers and occasionally flirting.
  15. You had the picture in there of the "xtreme parrot" show. They've actually always offered pictures with the birds for $5, at elast for the past several years. I did however notice that they cut one of the shows out, even during the off season I thought they had 4 shows on the weekend.
  16. Did anybody else catch the Z-Force (Flashback) ad on that site?
  17. I can't believe these forums have only been around two years now, I would have actually have guessed longer. I"ve been coming to this site since the late 90's, and honestly it seems weird that TPR ever existed without forums.
  18. It'd be about 5 pages single spaced. Rough rule is about 500 words per page single space, and about 250 words per page double spaced.
  19. So it's 3000 words, which is about 12 pages of typing single spaced... I'd say doing a history of a single park might be a good idea. Now just wondering because this is (or at least it seems) to be a High School paper... I'm curous what you have to write this for, since 12 pages sounds a bit long for a high school paper. I didn't encounter a paper that size until college, and even now (I'm a senior at UCLA) as a History major that paper would still be seen as a "decent" size.
  20. Speaking of Freefall, how is it? A few months ago that ride looked doomed, is it operating?
  21. I'm looking foward to seeing Psyclone gone, that will be a strange site. It's interesting though, Robb brought up the picture of Shockwave... For some reason the parks coasters in that back area just don't survive. Psyclone is the third coaster being taken out from that spot in the last 20 or so years. Of course two of the rides would be doomed because of the wonderful Ride rotation program, which landed us Flashback, which is also slated to be removed. How ironic.
  22. Does the park still offer free parking after 6? A few years ago when I live near the park, I enjoyed going at night and taking advantage of the free parking.
  23. How often are rounds generally made. It was farily seldom I saw my supervisor when I worked at the park, typically if he was around it was because I was encountering some kind of technical problem... Or a bird flew away at the show.
  24. I highly doubt this is the norm, but twice while working at the park I had to get on my cell phone and place calls to Magic Mountain. When I was working up on Summit there were two seperate times where somebody couldn't take the hill, and seeing as how I was denied a radio each time I asked, I ended up just using my cell phone to call for help. Otherwise the only time I would be on my phone was backstage out of sight from guests.
  25. I normally ate at the always tidy (sarcasm) Mooseburger Lodge. The prices are about the same (or were the last time I was at the park long enough that I ended up having to eat) as elsewhere in the park, and there are free refills.
