SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
AllenA07 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFMM had several problems, however at no time did the park sit vacant for 3 years following serious damage from a major flood. SFMM in that regards is in no way analogous to SFNO. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread

After looking around the website for a little bit, I've got to say that I'm less then confident this is actually going to get done. It looks as though the website was thrown up quickly, and just doesn't look like something I'd expect from a company who plans on operating a business as major as a theme park. Hope I'm wrong but I'm going to give this one less then a 10% chance of actually happening. -
Well making the assumption that the coaster would be wood colored, wood frankly looks like wood. Many years ago I was in the line for Riddlers and was listening to the guy in front of me telling his friends how he had been on Riddlers back in 1987 when it was painted black and called Shockwave. Now personally I think Shockwave and Riddlers look far more different then would Psyclone and another wooden coaster. I could be giving people way to little credit here, however I stand by what I said that it is going to be a few more years before we see SFMM get a new wooden coaster. I do fully believe that it is coming, just not yet. I do honestly hope that they prove me wrong however.

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

First off the idea for no anti-rollbacks does sound strange, however I really don't know much about engineering, so I'm guessing that they know what they're doing. As far as what is on the bottom of the wheels, I think magnetic brakes might be the answer, to me it almost looks like a skid pad, but I can't see any reason what that would be necessary. This looks like it is really going to be an incredible ride! -
^December 28th... Just in case the Christmas season wasn't hectic enough.

Zoomers Amusement Park given new lease on life
AllenA07 replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still would like to pretend they were stealing the coaster to put it in their back yard. But really, stealing coaster track? That might be one of the strangest things I've heard in a while. Hmm... Anybody here want to steal Sheikra with me? -
While I fully agree SFMM needs a wooden coaster, I still think we're going to have to wait a few more years. The park isn't going to want to add a wooden coaster just to have people stroll by thinking that it's the same wooden coaster they rode back in 1994. The park has to wait for the memory of Psyclone to fade a bit.

It always stuns me that the Bench: The Ride joke has lasted this long. Out of boredom the other day I went back and found the original Bench joke from 2000! 8 Years of bench jokes! Really however I'm thrilled to see the park looking this good, I really hope I can get out there to see it in person this year. The falls look great and I would love to head up the tower and check out some of that stuff. Just wondering but when did Deja Vu start running again?

^Before my site closed that was actually what I was attempting to do, however it proved to be way more work then I had anticipated. Also it would of had a different feel to it because this was before Facebook or Myspace really took off. What I had hoped to do was give everybody a small amount of room to post their own pictures(maybe 10-20 per person) a place to write ride reviews, and a place to upload RCT tracks/parks. At the same time I had begun rebuilding the site using Dreamweaver, and ultimately it became too time consuming and the project (and the site) sputtered to a stop. However I still maintain that it was a good idea.

That really is sad, and as others have asked, I wonder if he had some kind of connection with Disney. -
The Official Nintendo Wii Discussion Thread

I'm really debating if I want to pick up Mario Kart. The last time I played that game was the SNES (which was the most recent gaming system I owned before Wii) version and I hated it. But I've heard nothing but good about the Wii version. -

Great pictures so far, all these trip reports are making me really want to go on one of the trips! -
Are any other parks using Twitter?
AllenA07 replied to Raven Maven's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've got to agree with what others have said, one of the great things about the Holiday World site is that it does change. As far as official park sites go I can't think of any nearly as good as Holiday Worlds. So in response to your question if there are any other park sites doing this, I'm not aware of them. -
We just hit $3.50 here in Lubbock... I'm driving from Lubbock, Texas to Valencia, CA in a week, so I'm thinking I might see a few stations over $4 for regular on that drive.

How about the ability to archive trip reports in your profile? For instance lets say that I post a Trip Report from SFMM on three separate dates, 12/1, 12/3, and 12/5. If a user wanted to see my 12/3 trip report all they would have to do is click on my profile and find SFMM 12/3. On that idea, what if users could post ride reviews in their profiles? It'd be like giving us a blogging feature in there, however seeing as it is a coaster site, the blogs would be ride/park reviews. If one of the more well traveled posters were to write a review and post it in their profile, it would be as easy as going in there and selecting the review by them that you wish to read. That was actually something I had been working on for my own website for a while. The site ended up closing before I could implement such a feature.

Just a few things that I have run over in terms of profiles, I think a small "about me" section would be nice. I believe it was Danimation (there's going back a few years) that had one which I always liked. The other idea I have is maybe making it so you can have a single personal picture of yourself on there... Problems with that however would be 1) space limitations, and 2) Lewd content being posted Generally speaking however I only look at member profiles if they post something exceptionally stupid and I want to find more dumb posts by the person... Yeah I know, but c'mon I'm guessing I'm not the first one here to do that! For the most part I think the profiles have everything they

On the issue of the fire effects I have decided that I'm going to remain neutral on the subject. If it works it is going to undoubtedly be a very cool effect. Under the old management however I would have been strongly opposed to such an effect because I would be surprised to see it survive beyond the first few months of operation before it disappeared. The new management has paid so much more attention to detail (I didn't even remember that the Viper's eyes lit up until I saw it on here) that I believe they have earned the benefit of the doubt in this situation. With that said my guess is due to wind and fire conditions the fire effect will not be seeing much action during the fall months, however that is something that is beyond the parks control... Unless you're Alton Towers and want to control the rain.

Height and riding coasters...?
AllenA07 replied to Bucket's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So the basic premise here is that nobody tall or short can ride Arrow's without taking a beating. -
I'm living with my Fiancee, as of December she'll be upgraded to wife.

Andy Shine's Quiz Time
AllenA07 replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
14/20. That was a hard one, and a handful of mine were guesses. Truth be told, I'm not very knowledgable on my international parks, most of the things I know concern US parks.
