I for one don't think it will be rebuilt bigger and better then ever, but I do think it will be rebuilt to pre-hurricane condition. I think it will take some time, but the boardwalk is a big attraction for the area, and I think that investors will find it worth their investment. I'm crossing my fingers that the boardwalk is back up by this May, I'll be taking a cruise out of the port of Galveston and was hoping to make a stop by Kemah.

I agree with what people on here have said about Knott's being in danger. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Cedar Fair liquidate the park sometime down the road if the economy continues to go down hill. Knott's really used to be a wonderful park, that a lot of the people on here used to love. It's amazing how in just a few years the park has gone so far down. I never thought I would see the day where SFMM would be preferred over Knotts!

Inverted Wooden CoasterAllenA07 replied to Vffreak07's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Something tells me that this guy isn't going to have to worry about getting too many phone lines, somehow I don't think the calls are going to come pouring in for his services.

I've never had a problem with the Wii in terms of heat actually. I'm keeping it however away from the rest of my components which gives slightly better ventilation.

United States and Mexico so far, however next years I'll be adding Grand Cayman and Jamacia to that list. Someday when I've got some money I'd love to travel to Italy. Likewise I'd love to get to France and see Versaille.

Carowinds Discussion ThreadAllenA07 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! As other people have said, regardless of how we feel about Boomerangs, whenever you go to a park they have lines. People like them and they look impressive. Unlike most of the people on this site, people are not likely aware that every park in the world has a Boomerang, and if they are they likely don't care.

Do parks still mount camera's on the front of coasters during Media Days? That is how I did a whole lot (and by that I mean 95%) of my POV shots. No offense to people but I've never been much for the POV shot, mostly because if it's video it's like watching the Blair Witch Project, and if it is a still image I normally can only make out a blurry shot of track that really doesn't tell me much anyway. Fact of the matter is, most people kind of suck at getting POV shots. Many years ago I did a coaster show for the Discovery Channel and was ridding Ninja using a lipstick camera to capture the ride. Even with that my hand was much more shaky then I ever would have ever realized. Big kudos to Robb, not exactly sure how you do it but you have a very steady hand!

^I will grant you that the park might just being a wonderful job at covering this up, but I would have still expected it to leak out. However I think that most of us can at least agree at this point that if anything did happen, the impact was not at the rumored 40 miles per hour. If anything did happen I would really be surprised to learn it was anything more then a very slight bump at a moment when nobody was loading or unloading from the coaster.

I wear glasses sometimes. My vision isn't that bad that I need to wear them most of the time, only when driving at night and sometimes if I've put in a full day of reading I'll put them on. So for me at least glasses was the easy choice.

I'm still skeptical that this even went down and if it did that there were people involved. Not to make society look bad but I find it hard to believe that if there were two trains full of people and they collided at least one person would have gone forward with some amount of legal action. Not only that but there would have been media coverage, and all those fun reports about how roller coasters are dangerous and kill kittens. So basically I'm looking at it from a simple "if, then" prospective. If there was an accident then there would be media coverage and lawsuits and all of the other things we could expect. However because those do not exist I cannot conclude that there was an accident. There simply isn't the evidence to support it, while there might be a video, that video only shows people mulling around and being annoying, something that does not require an accident for people to do. So as for now I do not believe that there was any such accident, and if there was it was so minor that it was not even worth mention. Could I be wrong? Yes, and if that is the case I'll accept that I was wrong when I see the evidence.

^I've been following this project for the last several years, I can't wait to see what we get out of it.

If you could get rid of one thing..AllenA07 replied to maeryk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I think parking prices should be lower, and I agree that all variations of rolling shoes (or as one of my professors deemed them "rolling torts") should be banned from parks.

Got to be honest, I'm not going to lose a whole lot of sleep tomorrow night over this. I can't wait until some results start coming out from this, should be some great research!

Ever Thought Your Teacher Was Cute or Sexy?AllenA07 replied to ash.1111's topic in Random, Random, Random Never really had a thing for any of my teachers, however my little sister had a teacher who was in her first year of teaching, before she had been a cheerleader for the Raiders. She was very good looking.

Hope you get better soon! Best Wishes.

My parents have also voted Democrat, whereas I have, for the most part, voted Republican. So while I agree parents for a lot of people do play a role, not everybody does.

I have never been that big of a fan of the mazes. I actually had not gone through any of them until they year I worked at the park. Once my shift ended I had talked to one of my supervisors and they radioed ahead that I was coming around to try all the mazes and to let me through. So it wasn't until then that I actually took the time to go through them all. They were ok, but I'm just not that much of a maze guy... A fun Fright Fest story. When I was working at the park I ran sound for the kitchen show while it was up on Samurai Summit. The sound booth was located just behind the wall in the area where they had people running around scaring people. Where I was they had a little less fog, because of the show, so often people would run to the wall right by the sound system where I was sitting. For FF they had me dressed in all black, and I was sitting low to the ground, so generally people didn't see me. When I was bored between shows at night I would basically just hide out down there and wait for people to run up to the wall to escape. Then all I had to do was pop up and say "hi" and they generally would freak out. Good time good time!

The more and more I read I agree that Palin is a good pick for McCain. It looks like he did pick somebody who, politically is very much like him. I was with the rest of the country in that on Friday all I knew about Sarah Palin was that her name was Sarah Palin, however now that a little time has passed, it doesn't seem like such a terrible choice.

This is exactly the thing that I hate. I don't understand why people have an inability to understand that not all Republicans are rich, and they are not all religious fanatics. I'm middle class and have not been to church in years (I'm even half Jewish!). Yet I still vote Republican most of the time. I could make the same generalization that I vote Republican because I'm A) Not on welfare and B) Not a hippie. I know that statement is about as true as what was said above. These blanket statements are really just that, people giving into ridiculous stereotypes..

^^The market should take care of itself! There is no reason that the federal government needs to step in and hold our hands at every single step.
