I was really sad to hear about this, I read his stuff as a kid and loved it. He was one of my favorite writers growing up.

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE - THE GAME IS OVER

I do recall there being a boob clause in the TOS. -
As so many people have already said, while I hate to see a park close, it's really hard not to have seen this coming. I do agree with the idea that this park should have been built in Vegas, I think it would have actually been popular there. My guess as to why it wasn't is likely that the land simply costs so much, that it would have been prohibitive to build a park there. To be fair when I first heard plans for this park many years ago I recall rumors placing this park as a 3rd gate for Universal Orlando. As for if somebody else will by this park? I really don't think so, with the economy the way it is I doubt anybody is going want to touch this place. My guess is that over the next year or so we'll see the rides get sold off and moved around. I'm not sure the area the park is in or the demand for that land, but unless that land is in high demand, I can see the park sitting there for several years until the economy improves. Eventually I expect that this park will have a date with a bulldozer

I will agree that it is fun when Colossus is racing, it really does add another dimension to the coaster. However as Eric said the race is never fair, and as I understand it (this may just be an urban legend, if anybody actually knows I'd love to hear) racing it is not the greatest thing in the world for the structure itself.

Wow with the forum outage this has the chance to become the greatest scandal since hanging chads. However I again am going to cast my vote to get rid of the mod, and the support the average poster! -

Top Thrill Dragster Stalls Again
AllenA07 replied to yankees15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess I'm going to be the lone person here who would not want to get stuck on Dragster like that. I'm not much of a fan of heights, and would be more then happy to simply roll over the top and be on my way back down. -
Kingdom of the Dinosaurs at Knotts...
AllenA07 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You could just combine the two and give the entire area a "Ghetto Theme." My last visit to Knotts put me under the impression that they are already working towards that theme anyhow. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

I fully agree that moving the ride entrance would go a very long ways towards making clear that people are not getting in line to board Psyclone. I'm actually curious, because I'm a bit too young to remember, where did the Bobsleds and Shockwave board? Did they use the same general area as Psyclone for their stations? I know that the old Shockwave que line still is there and is used as overflow for Deja Vu, but I' still unclear as to where the stations were. -

I truly hope the back of the park gets some work done. I think it would be good for that part of the park to see some work, other then Deja Vu there really is no reason to go back there. With this new coaster the park could go a long way towards moving people to that part of the park. By the way, great pictures Robb, I look forward to the updates on this ride. -
This seems to be a new trend of Six Flags. I personally really like it. Six Flags is going out and improving their existing ride base instead of adding more coasters. I hope this trend continues, and as Robb said earlier in this thread it'd be nice if Cedar Fair (Ghostrider is a prime example of an amazing coaster which has become run down) takes notice!

It seems so far like the sound system is going to be built directly into the train, but I think we're going to have to wait a while longer to know for sure. I'm personally very curious to see how audio is going to work on a wooden coaster! -

If you start digging around in poop because of this thread I'm going to reconsider posting on TPR. -

Ninja has been my favorite ride for years despite not being the biggest coaster in the park. If this ride is as good as I really think it will be I think it'll rank up there (for me at least) with Ninja in terms of fun. -

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
AllenA07 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
My biggest question here is how we're all so sure the ride is "mediocre" from nothing more then a picture and a short animated video clip? It was brought up before here but look at The Raven, people love that coaster and in all regards it is a smaller coaster then what is coming to SFMM next year. Now because I don't feel like complaining and feel that it is time to move this conversation on a little bit, I'm wondering if anybody can tell me what is going down in the area by this ride. Are they keeping the Cyclone Bay area open during construction, are the closing off the area around Deja Vu? Basically as of right now what does the construction site consist of? As others have said I would really like to see the entire back of the park receive some kind of a facelift. That area of the park is always dead, and really seems to be very outdated so I'm glad something is going in there. -

These are the comments that really are confusing me. Other then a single artist rendition and a 45 second, quickly put together, video clip we really know nothing more about this ride today then we did back in June. Unless I'm really missing something, I've not seen any kind of theming yet for the ride, so I don't understand how it can already be tacky. People complain that Scream! is built on a parking lot and has no theme. People complain that Terminator is going to have an "over dramatic and tacky" theme. SFMM really can't win! -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

I would have loved a west coast El Toro, however I think this is just what SFMM needs. A solid wooden coaster that has a large appeal to a lot of people. As a business decision I think SFMM really went in the right direction here. An El Toro clone would have been great and we would have all loved it, but it would have lacked that family appeal. My favorite ride at SFMM is actually Ninja, a ride far from breaking any records, it's just a good fun ride. I'm hoping the same from this coaster, a coaster that is simply fun! Besides I promise you that if the park got an El Toro clone people on here would be complaining that the park got a clone. -

I'll admit I was hoping for 3200+ feet in length, however I can think of several great wooden coasters that are shorter. The length isn't something that really bothers me. Actually other then the thinking they picked a poor spot for the coaster, I'm really liking what I've seen thus far. -

I'll wait to pass judgment on the theme until I personally get a chance to see it and see how it works. To be honest they could call the thing Wooden Coaster 2 and I would be happy. I agree with what others have said however the the location is going to cause problems. I've been saying for months that the park would never put a wooden coaster back on the Psyclone spot because people are going to confuse it for that ride they were on during their last visit 5 years ago that they didn't like. To us the rides look different, but for most people wood is wood. In terms of how wild and intense it is, it's basically what I was expecting that it would be. It's (hopefully) going to be a solid ride that families can get on. The Height requirement is going to be 48 inches which does actually surprise me, as I really thought SFMM was going to make a run at getting a 42 inch requirement. -
What is the record for number of rides on Goliath?
AllenA07 replied to rawrtotheargh's topic in Ask Alvey
Sigh... Time for me to sound like the loser that I really am... I kept count for the first few years that Goliath was open. I had just over 500 rides on it when I lost count. I'd guess that after losing count I racked up another 100 or so rides on the coaster, so I'd guess my ride count is around 600. I'm guessing that it is not the record, but I'm also pretty confident that I'm pretty high up there in terms of total rides. Even when I was counting I never really bragged about it or anything, I simply kept count. I'm proud to say that I've not kept count on any ride since! -

^Wow... Should I start the remove Terminator thread? In all reality I really hope that SFMM does take care of this ride, as it really does appear to have a lot of potential. The video makes it look like the ride will have a good mixture of both airtime and positive G's.
