  1. Great pictures, I've never sat that close and would eventually love to put myself down in that section. Last season was actually the first year since the 1995 season that I didn't make it to at least one Dodger game. Hopefully that is not something that becomes a trend.
  2. I'm sitting here right now, and I just can't figure out, how do you deep fry Pepsi. Wouldn't that just be drinking Pepsi flavored oil? Do you fry it in the bottle? I would imagine that the heat would cause the thing to explode. I'm perplexed by this, so if anybody could shed some light on it for me, that would be great.
  3. The control panel from Eagles Flight is still around up on Samurai Summit. In fact next to the control panel is a log, and the last recorded date the ride ran was Jan 16th, 1994. Also an interesting tidbit, Eagles Flight is one of the rides of SFMM that has had an accident that resulted in a fatality.
  4. Personally I think if I were her, I'd look back with a small amount of fear that this many people know it's my birthday. With that said, Happy Birthday!
  5. I sent in my guess a few days ago and now am beginning to doubt myself. I'm curious if there have been 5 correct responses yet.
  6. Very glad to hear it is reopened. I'm taking a cruise out of there in May and want to head out to the boardwalk.
  7. Ride is looking very good, thanks for the the update Robb.
  8. I like school, but I'm ready to be done. I would very much like to go back someday however and get my P.hD in History, just not sure when that will happen.
  9. That stadium reminds me of Olympic Stadium where the Expo's used to play.
  10. ^That is what I would like to know. Was there in fact a desperate attempt to sell the park, or was the name simply floated out there. There can be all the speculation in the world here, but without a real insider I don't think that's something we can really know.
  11. As has been stated I'm going to wait to see if the Dodgers get Manny before I even attempt to make any predictions. Dodgers without Manny will be decent and have a good chance at the NL West and nothing more. If the Dodgers get Manny and some of our kids step it up a little (Kershaw is said to be a future Cy Young) then I think that we very well may be a real threat this year.
  12. ^While in theory that sounds great I think it'd be much more difficult in all reality. With the economy right now it's going to be exceptionally hard for them to find a buyer who is willing to pay a decent price. If these parks are not going to turn a profit (and by profit I mean substantial profit) I don't know if Six Flags would be able to move them right now. Personally I think the biggest mistake (purely from an economic standpoint, personally I would have hated to see this happen) that Six Flags made was not selling SFMM a few years ago when the rumors were going around. That land was worth a lot more then then it is now, and a sale could have made a substantial impact on the chains debt. With that said I am still somewhat curious how close Six Flags did come to selling SFMM, were they in fact shopping it and just failed to find somebody will to pay enough. These are questions that I don't think any of us can really know. At this point I think the best thing Six Flags can do is try to stave off bankruptcy for as long as possible, and at least make an attempt to liquidate some of their smaller parks. Not sure if anything is really possible, but with everything considered I think this is going to be a really rough year for not only Six Flags but the industry as a whole.
  13. I went to a single cub scout meeting, so about 45 minutes.
  14. Don't take it so personally it is a comedy show!
  15. ^I love my 02 SL2 thank you very much. Coming from a '92 Ford Tempo basically anything short of a little-tyke car is a substantial upgrade.
  16. ^ I saw one of those once while sitting at a red light. While sitting there I figured out that there were 5 people in the family including Mom, Dad, and three kids. Under the kids their names were listed (first names only) as well as the names of the family pets, cat and a dog. Their license plate frame said something to the effect of "The Brown Family bus." Also from this sticker on the back I knew the sexes of the children, I knew the middle one played soccer (he had his foot on a soccer ball) and sadly I knew the youngest child was in a wheelchair. Last thing I learned from the back of this families car is where their kids went to school due to the bumper sticks proclaiming where their kids are honor students. So in two minutes at a red light I was able to find out a ton of information about this family without them having any idea. Kind of scary when you think about information like that getting into the wrong hands.
  17. I didn't even notice that part. Eww.
  18. That's a very good point. I'm wondering if it'll open next weekend and then promptly close again after the race, or if the ride has been saved.
  19. ^I'm actually curious, why is it you're collecting these things? Not to insult your collection however the saying "one man;s garbage is another man's treasure" seems to apply here.
  20. You know it is so rare the park actually closes for rain that I really wouldn't worry abut that, the bigger concern would be everything being closed. I recall from when I worked at the park that it cost so much just to open the park that it was a big loss for them to lose an operating day. I remember one day over fright fest where it absolutely poured all day, and the park got operating, I was running a sound system at the time and had to build a makeshift shelter from a tarp and trees.
  21. Ride is looking great, coming along so quickly now after what seemed like such a slow start. Nice work as always Robb.
  22. There is a statute of limitations in place in Florida (as in all states). For something like this the suit must be filed within four years of when the cause of action arises. Which is why I bet she is now trying to file, she likely has been thinking about it and then realized that she better move now or forever keep her silence. $15,000 is all she is asking for so Disney will be quick to settle. It's going to cost the parties much more to actually try and litigate. Frankly $15,000 is such a small sum of money to Disney that I doubt they'll bat an eyelash at this.
  23. A big part of High School is learn discipline. A fact is there are a lot of dumb rules in the real world, but you still have to follow them. Furthermore I find that there really are no completely random rules out there, there are simply rules that you don't understand. If the school doesn't want you to take a particular route to class, there is likely a reason they don't want you going that way. In fact I had the same complaint in High School, and eventually asked the Principal why they blocked a particular route. The answer was relatively simply, the route I wanted to go had a wide open gate that made it very easy to cut and leave campus (which I of course had no idea about ). On top of that the school didn't have the resources to post somebody by that gate, so they stood elsewhere and directed people where to go, and made clear that we couldn't go that path. Seemed weird at the time but once explained it made sense.
  24. As a teenager I used to collect sports cards. I've got (roughly) 15,000 hockey cards, and another 10,000 baseball cards. I've got another 2000 or so random cards (football and some Nascar). So needless to say it is a very large collection. Today I'm collecting historical items. As of right now I've got about 30 or so World War II medals (all authentic, I don't buy replicas of anything) and newspaper from the day World War I ended. My current project is to collect rounds from every American war. So far the only war I've got them from is the Civil War, and for the last year I've been trying to get rounds from the war of 1812. Lesser known wars like 1812 are actually very difficult to find rounds from, so I'm hoping eventually I can find some. The prized item I want? I've been shopping a revolutionary era musket for the last 5 years.
  25. Eric I really think that is more a sign of the times then anything else. I grew up in a world where everybody is always plugged in and on the go. I'll admit that I've got a Blackberry and am constantly sending emails and dealing with things of that nature. However while during the work week I'm always around, if I'm heading out with the wife on a date, or I'm going out of town, I will generally turn off the email functions of the phone, and put the phone on silent.
