Even if it goes back to the way it was in the last few years, it really wouldn't be THAT bad. I went in 2009, and with the exception of Twisted Twins being infuriatingly SBNO, I had a great time at the park. The coaster selection is pretty good and Deluge is excellent, but the lack of people was very evident in '09. I do think Ed Hart has a good plan though, add to the waterpark and a new Chang replacement. However, with the waterpark taking up Chang's spot, I'm not sure where the new coaster could go. Honestly, I'm wondering if any of the coasters are still operable, as the woodies and Greezed Lightnin' can't have held up well. That would make T2 and Roller Skater the only remaining coasters. Yikes. I'd also like to add that a replacement for the drop tower would be highly appreciated. It's spot was well-camoflaged when I went, but it was obvious there was a space there, and it's right at the park entrance.

Seems like good news for the park. Colossus has a much more "standard" layout than Tx Giant or Rattler, so I can't see as many changes being made as with the other two, however it still should go over well. I really hope the park stays away from inversions, though. I know looping woodies (or woodie hybrids) are all the rage now, but this park is set on inversions for a long time already.

Why all the screaming, Robb?

Manhattan Express and Fujin Rajin 2 are freakin' excellent videos. They're my favorites! Such hilarious commentary. -
^^ Yeah, great job finding that. It looks like an updated version of their loopscrew coasters. I think Arrow's last years had a ton of growth, with loopers (Drachen, Tennessee, and this Kuwait one) having more flow to them instead of strings of similar elements repeated over and over. X, for all its faults, is a groundbreaking design, and the four wild mice the company made show that Arrow was staying innovative and breaking into new styles in the late 90s. But, like said already, B&M basically made everything better.

What will be the FIRST coaster you ride in 2013?
11slataus replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seeing as I'm studying abroad in Japan starting next month, I'm hoping to get on some coasters there. I know Fuji-Q gets a bad rap but I'd love Eejanaika to be my 2013 first, or Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima. -
There is also a much smaller, but similar looking loop on one of their loopers in Kuwait. The support structure is very similar, although the loop must be about the same size as Arrow's others. It's called Roller Coaster and is at Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park.

^Just for clarification, do you mean the post-loop trim or the block brake? Shockwave has always interested me as it left before I made it to SFGAm (my home park). Also missed out on GASM by one year, so I guess these Arrow 7-loopers like to elude me. How was Shockwave?

Could possibly be a SkyCoaster as well. I believe that one was planned a few years back but cancelled. -

^^ I have to agree with Playland's Coaster. While the layout's nothing remarkable, the airtime is phenomenal. And such minimal restraints! -

Random CP Question: Did they slow down Wicked Twister's launch some years after its opening? I could have sworn in 2003 the first backward launch went far up the tower like the second backward launch, with lots of the twist. The past years I've gone it seems like the first backward run barely launches at all. Anyone know? -
The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
11slataus replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant surprise: AFTERSHOCK at Silverwood - After all the bad things I'd heard about it, I expected it to be broken. But it was open all day! Then I thought it would be rough as heck, but it turned out being minimally rough and very forceful. RATTLER at SFFT - While this was quite rough, I didn't think it unbearable. The ride was very unique even though the pacing was horrible and the drop was short. COASTER at Playland, Vancouver - Who knew such an airtime monster was at a small park in Vancouver? Unpleasant surprise: SUPERMAN: ULTIMATE FLIGHT and X-FLIGHT - I liked both these rides, but for the line I had to stand in, they were short, underwhelming, and forceless (with the exception of Superman's pretzel loop). There really aren't too many that are unplanned unpleasantries. -
SFGAdv Trip Report
11slataus replied to JRHcoasterki's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good report! When I went to Great Adventure last year I got mostly one ride on everything because Kingda Ka broke down twice while I was in line and sucked up a ton of time. The Batman/Dark Knight area is a major dead zone in the park, I thought. Nitro and El Toro are amazing, I enjoyed Green Lantern, but I also got to ride it when it was in Kentucky and it was much better there. Less lines, too! -
First off, I agree with you. It would be great to see the return of a classic ride. Plus, the ride's old spot is still there and that side of the park could use another coaster. But SFKK's Greezed Lightnin' isn't CGA's model, it's SFGAm.'s. The CGA model was removed to become parts for the Six Flags model after it was moved to Kentucky. It would still be a classic Marriott ride, though! Based on what I've heard, sitting idle for three seasons hasn't treated Greezed Lightnin' very well...still there's a hope there. In my opinion, CGA needs another coaster on the Flight Deck side of the park. So, if not a return of Tidal Wave, I'd support an impulse or half-pipe that would fit easily into it's old spot. The Invertigarden is the best spot for a Windseeker, if they were to get one. The old Triple Play spot would be great for a Unicoaster flat ride like Brainsurge at Mall of America. I'd like to see another of those. As for another coaster...I like what people have said about one going around/over the rapids. Maybe not so much over, but in that area would be cool. I would like a low-to-the-ground Intamin Blitz or maybe a San Diego Manta-esque Mack launcher. CGA has a lot of potential, just not that much space to work with. If they did ever remove a ride, I'd hope they'd relocate it. Vortex to Michigan's Adventure (along with Knott's Boomerang)!

Is there a reason why FOF's corkscrew is yellow? Or is that just the light reflection? -

Mean Streak actually runs sometimes without its trims? I knew that Mantis and Magnum sometimes ran like that, but never Mean Streak. The only chance I've had was when it was raining hard and Mean Streak was open. The train just slid through the drop trims, what a great ride...even in the back seat! -

Pretty sure mine was Mantis at CP, but there's a small chance it was Raptor. -

The only Schwarzkopf shuttle I've been on was SFKK's Greezed Lightnin' back in 2009. Seeing as it closed the year after, I'm pretty happy I got on it. I'd like to get on a flywheel launched one and an Arrow one in the future. Surprisingly, Arrow shuttles are just about as common as Schwarzkopfs in the U.S.
