  1. How exactly was the ride neutered? It looks like it runs like all the other SkyLoops. Also, is there a reason why this particular one is so problematic and the others aren't?
  2. Ant news of it being relocated? Seems like a ride that would (and should) be moved.
  3. I always liked the view from Coaster at Playland in Vancouver. The setting by the bay helps, and the mountains. The Coaster's not very tall, though. What you wanna do is ride their star flyer, AtmosFEAR, now that's a great view!
  4. ^ Probably the cars from SFKK's Twisted Twins. I know they've been spotted there before. Probably to be used for parts for Boss's trains, along with Mega Zeph's.
  5. I'm not new to Six Flags Great America (I go about twice each year but very rarely later than August). I have a friend who's never been there and I'm wondering when it would be best to go. I went last year for Fright Fest and that was epic, but EXTREMELY busy. Didn't even make it to every coaster (sadly never got on Viper )and Raging Bull had a full queue plus a line out on the midway. The haunts are definitely worth going for. What I'm wondering is when is the park least busy: September or October weekends. I loved Fright Fest, but if the park is less busy on a September weekend, than I'd rather get to go on all the coasters. If there's some weekend in October that's generally not packed for whatever reason, that would be ideal. Just wondering if anybody who goes frequently could help me out. Flash passes are an option but personally I'd rather not spend the money.
  6. Not the biggest but honorable mention would be the current Goliath at SFFT. Formerly Thrill Valley's (Japan) Gambit and later SFNO's Batman. So it's been relocated once from all the way around the world and once from a major natural disaster and is still operating. Unfortunately RCDB has no photos of it from Thrill Valley. I'd like to see what it looked like.
  7. Great Adventure isn't my home park, but to my knowledge that area of the park was called "The Old Country" and was shuttered after Chiller left in 2007. The park did used to loop around to the ferris wheel area. The old bumper cars and another ride or two are still back there. I noticed Movie Town was really sparse when I went in 2011 as well. There's absolutely nothing left except the two Batman coasters.
  8. The last non-relocated impulse was actually Steel Venom at Valleyfair in 2003. Intamin does still offer impulse in both single and double twist models, as both options are still on their website. However, I highly doubt Montezooma would ever be replaced by one. I can't really see Monty leaving anytime soon. Honestly I hope that there are more impulses built SOMEWHERE because I think they make great rides. ...Just not as a replacement for a shuttle loop.
  9. Does anyone know if this or any other Vekoma "suspended" coasters actually swing? Because Vekoma calls all their inverted coasters suspended. I'm just wondering as the Reptar/Snoopy junior coaster at Carowinds definitely did not swing. Are the newer models any different or are they just kiddie inverts? I realize that Chessington's Vampire swings, but any more?
  10. ^ Even RMC might have a hard time making that section of the ride interesting. The ride's so slow there even without the trims. Still, might be a good spot for a low-to-the-ground roll or some switchbacks!
  11. It's airtime heaven. Old-style trains, no seatbelts = standing up on every hill. A few of the hills really slam you down though if you are not holding on.
  12. This definitely looks epic. I was very hesitant about CP getting a wing coaster after riding SFGAm's X-Flight (which is OK at best), but this appears to blow all the other wing coasters out of the water! I really hope there is an inversion after the MCBR, however. It appears to be just a helix but it's hard to see. Just a helix would be a bit of an underwhelming finish, especially after the MCBR. Really hoping there's not a trim on the giant airtime hill. That would be just like something B&M would do...
  13. I'm excited for how great this looks, and what work RMC is doing, although I'm not sure I feel so well about wooden coasters evolving...into basically steel coasters.
  14. I don't want to get farther of topic but I do know that Superman: Tower of Power at SFKK never reopened and was torn down during 2007 or during that following off season. I was not there in '08 or '09, and the park closed after the '09 season. Its spot at the front of the park was hidden from view by plants they put up, but with Google Earth you can still see the ride's footprint and queue area. It was never replaced. And to my knowledge, Two Face was sold to a park in Brazil. Haven't heard anything at all recently though. SFOG's Deja Vu is for sure in Brazil, though!
  15. I've been wondering this for awhile and wanted to get other opinions on it. Do you think there will be any more (presumably B&M Stand-Up coasters? I realize they're been dormant since 1999 but the recent relocations of Chang and Iron Wolf prove that they can still be popular. I've been on Iron Wolf, Mantis, Chang Lantern (at both locations), and Vortex Carowinds, and I've found all to be very intense and enjoyable, although I know some think they're rough. I hope there will be more in the future.
  16. Back in 2003 when I was ten, it was my first time at Cedar Point riding all the big rides. For some reason, more than any other coaster, Wicked Twister just seemed gigantic. Whenever I ride it now it just doesn't compare. It felt huge back in '03!
  17. ^^ Magic Mountain coasters also live on at the expense of other Six Flags coasters, though. Viper's been helped out parts-wise by both SFGAm's Shockwave and SFGAdv's GASM. Ninja got a boost from Astroworld's XLR8. Not to say SFMM's upkeep isn't good, just saying that other coasters have died to (at least partially) preserve those two.
  18. I got a trim less ride on Magnum this year, and happened to be in the "magic" seat (3rd row). One of the greatest coaster experiences ever. Does anyone know why the trims are sometimes off? And, yes, the 3rd hill pullout was reprofiled. Not sure when though...
  19. Screamscape's been posting about how Tidal Wave at SFStL might be removed for something from SFOT. So...Flashback looks like it might be the one to go as it would fit easily in Tidal Wave's spot.
  20. It might be popular for one year. Although it certainly would add nothing to the park. I've been considering what SFOT could be removing for the past week and I also would consider La Vibora on the way out, but that would not fit in Tidal Wave's spot. Right now, Flashback's all I can think of.
  21. ^ Okay, I guess I've never gone on a super busy day. Gotta try to ride it sometime. Thanks!
  22. I've got a question about Yankee Clipper. When in the season does it operate? Great America is my home park and I get there about three times a year, but it's always early summer or FrightFest. Does it only operate late summer, or not at all? I've never seen it operate or even filled with water every time I've been there, although Logger's Run is usually open.
  23. Yes, that would make sense for Space Spiral. Really does stink to lose so many iconic CP attractions in such quick succession. First Demon Drop a few years ago, then Paddlewheel, finally WildCat and Space Spiral. My parents are running out of things they like at the park! Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited for what CP gets, but if it is a Wing Coaster I hope it's a different breed than the ones out already. I thought X-Flight at SFGAm was fun, but it was really short, seemed slow, and was quite forceless. I've always thought DT was cooler than most people thought it was (A bobsled in the DARK!), and found it always to be worth a ride. And, heck, I never even rode it when the theming was all intact! I too, will miss both of these rides. Although if I was running Cedar Fair I'd relocate DT to Michigan's Adventure...just a thought.
  24. Cool that it's going to a good cause but I'm really disappointed this rumor turned out to be true. As mediocre as DT was, I'd prefer it to a forceless wing coaster, and Space Spiral--well, I don't really care but I don't see why they couldn't either relocate it or just build around it. Sad day...
