  1. Yes. Their launched coasters are actually really good. Are the Inverts your favorite flavor of B&M?
  2. After getting back from Knott's over spring break and riding Silver Bullet 7 times in a row (and seeing how low it scored on the Mitch Hawker's Steel Poll at 136), I really want to know: What makes a B&M [invert] good? Silver Bullet is fast, reridable, ultra smooth, and has airtime although it's not as forceful as Raptor (65) or Batman (77). Is it really the forcefulness that makes the rides for you?
  3. ^I'd count all of the Intamin Bobsleds. I loved Disaster Transport when going there as a kid. However, although I haven't been on Scorpion, I wouldn't really call it a "family" coaster; aren't the last few helixes intense?
  4. ^I hope it's easy to get that out of there, because I have the feeling that the evacuation scaffold is going to be used a lot.
  5. This isn't on Facebook, but this one was on TPR's Youtube video of the Rita (Alton Towers) POV. (me) "Is Desert Race a clone of this?" (some random guy who obviously isn't into this kind of stuff) "no its a clone of corkscrew" How does one find similarities that great between an Intamin Accelerator and a Vekoma Corkscrew to call them a clone?
  6. I'm not sure if this thread has been made before, but if it has, feel free to redirect me. What's the best family coaster you've ever been on? Any rides that are tame enough to be ridden by the average ~8 year old but have a restraint system compatible with a 200+ lb. father can qualify. If you've ever seen my top 5, this wouldn't be any surprise to you that Manta from SWSD is my favorite.
  7. >all parks Yeah, all parks that can afford a B&M... Which is well below a quarter of them.
  8. ^How come the water is red? Is that just photoshopped?
  9. A bit off topic from Gold Striker... I just watched a POV of Flight Deck. That thing is bananas! It looks like I would black out on it, but would any of you cal it the most forceful B&M out there?
  10. If I didn't have a limit on space, I'd really like a Morgan Hyper like Wild Thing or Steel Force. Very re-ridable are reliable. As for flat rides, I really like Huss Giant Frisbees. If I was constrained space-wise, I think I'd really like a Eurofighter... ...Or an S&S El Loco. And for small flat rides, I absolutely adore Tilt-a-Whirls.
  11. What's that? Off in the distance? Could it be...? A SMOOTH VEKOMA? IMPOSSIBLE
  12. The Boomerang at Knott's Berry Farm just got new trains. And the Ghostrider didn't have seatbelts on the opening season. Only lap bars.
  13. Day 1: This is what the view looked like on the road to Buena Vista. I can't tell if I love or hate how Southern California is "beautifully ugly" in that smoggy, pollution-y kind of way. We had a late lunch at Pink's, the famous hot dog joint just outside of the park. In case you couldn't tell, they have bacon, so they must be good. The portions here were absolutely RIDICULOUS! They were a mess but still pretty good. If you ever go here, get the Turkey Dog. Got a season pass! I can't wait to go back in the summer. Mandatory shot of the entrance. I love the way the park gates drop you right underneath Silver Bullet's cobra roll. It makes for some great shots. This was the highlight of the ride for me, the overbanked curve. I found out after several re-rides that the best seat for this element is the seventh row on the far right. You get airtime! This is the view from the exit of the Silver Bullet after our first ride on it. I can safely say it holds a place on my Top 5. And now for something completely different: The infamous CCI Woodie Ghostrider. I remember this thing being relentlessly bumpy, and I put it on my bottom 5 at #2 for that reason. This was my view of the loading station as I awaited my doom. I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had to do a bit of "defensive riding" to not get hurt by it, but at least it has floater air. At least it's not even in my bottom 10 now. Refurbishment was happening on the Log Ride. I can't wait to ride it in the summer to see how much better it is. Back up towards the western end of the park, we decided to try out Xcelerator, the park's Intamin Accelerator Coaster. It wasn't running all that well today, though. Silver Bullet is better in my opinion. You really get great reactions from the riders during the insane launch. Airtime galore on this hill. And when I say "insane launch", I mean 0-82 in 2-point-freakin-3 seconds insane. The Perilous Plunge got taken out and is being replaced by two new flat rides and a Mack Wild Mouse coaster. Several supports were already up. The one day I actually want to ride a Vekoma... Supposedly it was getting a new train. More construction pics. The Wipeout was running an absolutely ridiculous ride cycle today. It has great airtime as you could probably tell by my mom's hair. Even though only one tower was running, the line for Supreme Scream never got above 5 minutes. Good news for me, even though nobody wanted to ride it with me. If it's any surprise to you, Windseeker is still broken down. ...But Montezooma's Revenge has been open for 35 years and hasn't been out of service for longer than a month. Or so I've heard. I love how reliable this coaster is. Notice the ® symbol on the ride sign. Even though it almost hurts to ride more than Ghostrider does, at least Jaguar is more well themed. This had the longest wait of the day. Too bad it was only running one train. I completely forgot how good Camp Snoopy looks. I want to roll down this hill. Really badly. You seriously have no idea how fluffy this grass is. I distracted myself from the temptations of rolling down said hill by going on Sierra Sidewinder, the park's Mack Spinning coaster. Although it doesn't really spin, it just kind of turns. Still fun though. If it wasn't for the strap in this picture, this would have been my favorite shot of the entire trip. I can't wait to take this into Photoshop next monday. It had a bit of a long line, but at least this ride was running two trains. Funky supports make me happy. This ride had some of the smoothest brakes on any ride I've ever been on! I was really surprised. On the way out, this really caught my eye. I love how funky that turn has to be to make way for the actual train. Back at the park entrance. More specifically, the park exit. Hasta mañana, Knott's.
  14. I would really like it on Ghostrider. That thing has the potential to be an amazing ride but falls flat because of the insane bumps that ruin the ride for me.
  15. So I'm back from my three day marathon at Knott's Berry Farm and now I'm finally in the loving arms of internet that doesn't feel as though I'm using a router from the 80's. Time to post a legit trip update. But first, does anyone know how to compress the images quickly?
  16. Montezooma's Revenge. I keep forgetting how good the hangtime is on those spikes until I ride it.
  17. I've had a few of these. My first time to SFMM came with my first ride on X2, and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. We got there at park opening, so we didn't even see the ride cycle. We were just like "This ride is pretty close and looks cool. How about that first?" I've never screamed louder on that legendary second drop. All I remember from that ride on it was just a sensory overload. I rode it again a couple of years later and absolutely loved it, though. And speaking of SFMM, I was among some of the first riders on Green Lantern: First Flight. Little did I know that having an unbalanced car meant a terrifying first ride, and we got some ejector hangtime on our ride. My seatmate was on the edge of coughing up a lung from screaming so hard. The last one that I can remember for now was on Ninja at SFMM. I rode that at night after completely forgetting how ridiculously out of control it was.
  18. I rethought my old post on here. I don't know why nobody has said this so far, but I just remembered how terrible lift hills are when they go right into the station. Most notably is Ninja at SFMM. It's a great ride, but the lift hill at the end totally breaks the pacing. If the station was at the bottom of the hill and not the top, I think that ride would be on my Top 10. Also, I don't know what rides have terrible enough cobra rolls to make lots of you say that was your least favorite, but all 5 cobra rolls I've ridden (Raptor, Dueling Dragons Ice, Silver Bullet, Scream!, and Incredible Hulk) were probably the highlight of each ride.
  19. Favorite relocated coaster: Deja Vu (AKA the only relocated coaster I've ever been on) Favorite defunct coaster: Disaster Transport (I for one loved this thing to bits. It felt out of control in all of the best ways and gave a fantastic sense of speed.) Favorite defunct ride: Log Jammer (SFMM) (Probably my favorite log flume) Least favorite defunct ride: Cedar Point's Wildcat. (I didn't enjoy this one as much as I though I would, but maybe I just caught it on a bad week. I wish I could re-ride it.)
  20. ^I know the backwards launch on YOLOcoaster seems gimmicky and pointless, but I'm sure it will be fun. And weren't the backwards launches on the Mummy coasters fantastic?
  21. Remind me again what the difference between waiting breaks, transfer, and main brakes are.
