Adventuredome Discussion Thread
Mr Stratosphere replied to gisco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From http://www.vegas24seven.com/?p=28528 El Loco Gets Ready to Roll in Las Vegas January 2014 First Roller Coaster Car Rides into The Adventuredome at Circus Circus El Loco is coming! Las Vegas’ newest roller coaster, only the second of its kind in the U.S., will offer screams and thrills at The Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas beginning in late January 2014. As construction continues, the coaster cars that will soon speed around 1,300 feet of electric yellow track have started to arrive. The final piece of the track will be laid this week and one coaster car is now on display at the indoor theme park, providing a sneak peek to those anxiously awaiting their turn to experience the coaster’s negative G drops, gravity-defying turns and over-the-edge twists. The open-carriage cars, each accommodating only four passengers, are smaller than average, allowing the vehicle to make tighter, faster turns. The coaster’s unusual turns that tilt outward combined with the open cars create an exhilarating sensation. Accompanied by a customized soundtrack, El Loco’s unique elements will provide guests with a 72-second, adrenaline-pumping adventure, including: 90-foot ascent followed by a greater-than-straight-down diving drop producing a negative 1.5 “vertical G” 45-degree outwardly banked curve 180-degree turn that races over the edge into a barrel roll With its heart-racing drops, turns and twists, El Loco must undergo more than 2,000 safety test rides before any rider can board. “As with all our rides, safety is our number one concern,” said Tom Nolan, vice president of operations for The Adventuredome. “El Loco has a number of unique elements that make it a thrill-a-second ride, and this extensive testing process will ensure that every rider has a safe and fun experience.” Designed by S&S Worldwide, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of vertical and family thrill rides, El Loco pushes the limits, allowing riders to enjoy movements never before experienced. Circus Circus Hotel, Casino and Theme Park – Las Vegas Circus Circus provides a fun-filled Las Vegas experience for all ages at an affordable price. The resort’s hallmark lies under their legendary Big Top, where celebrated circus acts perform as part of the world’s largest permanent circus. Circus Circus features The Adventuredome, America’s largest indoor theme park, a variety of restaurants including THE Steak House, rated the best steakhouse by Zagat and recognized a record 20 times in Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards and Vince Neil’s Tatuado Eat-Drink-Party!, where the rock ‘n’ roll vibe of the Sunset Strip comes to Las Vegas, a wedding chapel, shopping and an RV park. Circus Circus is a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM). -
Mine was the Lamisil commercial where the troll or whatever he is lifted the toenail, makes me cringe!

^ This is a bonus, but honestly would rather go to the M and have the Hash House there with an amazing view of the city! I am more interested to see what happens with SLS (The old Sahara) Work is going on at a steady pace there, and construction on the new rooms is progressing nicely. They basically gutted the entire hotel tower and started from scratch.

Since the weather has been (and is) so frightful around the country. Share your craziest weather related story at a park with us! The one that comes to mind immediately was West Coast Bash in 2009 when in the middle of the day a freak hail storm hit the park. We were on Ninja, and getting pelted in the face with hailstones was one of the most painful experiences I've ever had on a ride! Another experience was at Hersheypark, the opening year of Fahrenheit. We were waiting in line and were about to get on the train when a freak thunderstorm came out of nowhere, I felt bad because there were people on the brake run getting absolutely drenched because the ride broke down just before the storm hit.

Yeah, it looked very odd, and the building used to be lit in a purple light before the emerald green it is today. The cap was added in 1998. My problem with the Quad is the fact that the hotel tower itself looks like Imperial Palace still. I don't understand why that hasn't be taken care of along with the rest of the property. I had friends stay there recently and they said it was terrible. Casino Royale has a Best Western Plus inside of it and that is way nicer than the rooms at the Quad.

Favorite Water Ride
Mr Stratosphere replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hate to say it, but I really liked Perilous Plunge at Knott's. One of the few times I had an "Oh Crap" moment on a water ride. I truly miss Grand Canyon Rapids (Arrow Rapids) and Over the Edge (Arrow Log Flume) at MGM Grand Adventures back in the day. But you can never go wrong with The Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's Berry Farm! -
Weird Coaster Facts
Mr Stratosphere replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not necessarily weird, but interesting. Two coasters in Las Vegas had cars removed from their trains. Canyon Blaster originally opened up with 7 Cars and at some point the last car was removed. High Roller at Stratosphere originally opened with 9 cars and in the late 90's two cars were removed. Premier Rides made two modifications to the Manhattan Express. First in 2004 magnetic braking was added and in 2006 all of the original trains were replaced with Premier Trains. The last coaster built was in 2000 (Speed: The Ride) El Loco is our first new coaster in 13 years! -

Why do you love TPR?
Mr Stratosphere replied to ambe_bambe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The biggest part I love about TPR is the true friends I have made, there are friends on here that I haven't seen in a couple of years and when we do, we pick up right where we left off. The events / trips / videos etc are all a bonus. There are some pretty terrific people here! -
What's the worst station you've been in
Mr Stratosphere replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a few on my list that are just terrible. Riddler's Revenge at Six Flags Magic Mountain - Just a cluster of people and in the summer it can just be gross in there. Xcelerator at Knott's - Each car has its own gate, not each row. Can be confusing for people. Speed: The Ride (Defunct) - In the summer, it was downright brutal in the station, very little A/C, both ends open to the outside and the station was painted black. (not to mention the 15 minute dispatches) California's Great America - Any ride without a cover over the station. Jaguar at Knott's - I almost get lost inside the temple part of the queue every time I go there, the one ramp looks like it only leads to an emergency exit. People don't fill in all available rows and it tends to hold up the line. I believe a grouper is needed for this kind of station. Ghostrider at Knott's - Same issue as Jaguar, there is no grouper and people do not fill in all available space in the station, tends to hold up the line. X before X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain - In the past, it seemed like you waited longer in the station than you did outside. Having to wait for seats to rotate etc., especially when they were running one train. -
Best Theme Park Chain
Mr Stratosphere replied to vertgforces's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hands down I have to go with Disney, they have a tried and true method that simply works. Second, I would have to say Busch Parks, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is one of the prettiest parks I have ever been to. -
I enjoy the pre-lift on Giant Dipper at Belmont Park in San Diego, the tunnel is a bit disorienting as well.
