Weird Coaster Facts
Mr Stratosphere replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain had a small measurement mistake. When the last piece of track was installed, the track came up a few inches short at the final brake run. A small piece of track had to be fabricated to complete the circuit. I'm having a hard time finding a photo, but you can see to the naked eye where the track piece is at. -

Hey everyone! Quick update this mornkng. They've uncovered the car on the maintenance line, lots of dummies in the station. They are cleaning up under the ride and painting the footers black. Hope to see some testing real soon! -
Fastest Lift Hill?
Mr Stratosphere replied to bonsaiisuperstar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So is the question how fast speed wise is the lift hill or how fast it takes to get to the top of the lift? Speedwise, I would say SkyRush, for the coaster to get to the top of the lift, I would have to say any Kiddie Coaster! I would also say any Mack Rides GmbH & Co KG, or just any wild mouse coaster has a fast lift. -

The one thing I cannot wait to know is what the ride will sound like in the park, we know how Canyon Blaster roars around the park, I just wonder what El Loco will sound like. How loud is the lift, will it have a little roar to is as well, or is the track filled with sand. -

Hey everyone a very quick update on El Loco. Well the ride definitely has power now, all the sensors are lit up and every so often you can hear the brakes hiss. One of the cars has been unwrapped and has a dummy in the seat. The rest of the brakes are now installed after the final twist and dive. Brakes are now also in place on the maintenance track. Hopefully we should see testing real soon? The park will be closed next Monday thorough Thursday. Enjoy! Sensors all lit up! Brakes installed on the maintenance track. The rest of the brakes are now installed. Queue rails installed in the station. The unwrapped car with a dummy sitting in the front seat. -

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to follow these updates. It's been a blast to cover! ^ luckily El Loco is extremely clean with very few if any marks on the track at this point. -
Stratosphere in the month of January is offering free tower admission on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Local ID. Rides Excluded. Note, High Roller is now a part of the skyline!

The Adventuredo- oh wait, we are finally getting one!! 13 years since Las Vegas has seen a new roller coaster (2000 with the now gone Speed: The Ride), but honestly I can see more rides going up in the future here in Vegas, if not a new park. I think there is another shift happening in Vegas where non-gaming attractions are starting to rise once again. We lost two coasters in recent years, High Roller at Stratosphere and Speed: The Ride at Sahara. Leaving now only 4 major coasters in Nevada. Canyon Blaster, El Loco, The Roller Coaster (Manhattan Express) and Desperado.

I love it though, you can totally tell when a coaster has been sent around the circuit, some marks from the road wheels etc. Love this waiting game! -

Stopped by today, nothing visibly has changed, and they still have a spacing / clearance guide up on the second MCBR, so it didn't look like any cars have been sent through the circuit yet.
