  1. Quite honestly, I think you're screwed. How were they supposed to know that you would only use it twice and then move? Also, I think most parks have a no-refund rule on passes. Good luck taking transportation from Santa Monica to Valencia though, that sounds like quite a trip
  2. Did she get a stuffed hedgehog? I have a mini Dachshund too and he destroys those things like there's no tomorrow. I ended up buying him 2 more because he eats them so fast... currently there's 3 lying around the apartment
  3. The turnstiles let you into Hurricane Harbor. They were added when HH was added. --Robb Funnily enough, I just noticed these turnstiles the last time I was over there, taking Flashback pictures that didn't come out. My question is, since that was an entrance to HH, was HH originally included with admission? Or was this a separate way, once you got into the park, to get into HH other than the main gate next to the metal detectors (assuming you paid for admission to both SFMM and HH)?
  4. Why is it that I'm NEVER able to make these things? I won't even be in California this time! Oh well, maybe I can make the next one.
  5. I rode it sometime in the spring, I forget when... actually, I think that was the last time I saw it operating.
  6. Wow, thanks for the Magic Mountain ads, they're really interesting.... it's great to see how much effort was put into promoting the park. I love seeing how MM was in the past. Anyone have any more photos?
  7. Holy crap... "dirty rag head Arabs"?... among the other bad grammar?... Best. Press. Release. Ever. (Not in a racist sense, I just can't believe that someone actually was given the ok to release this! Wow!!)
  8. I would vote for you but it wanted an Australian address... and I don't have one, nor know how to make up a fake one... so... oh well, I hope you win
  9. I'll second going to Vegas. It has credits, and even though I went the first time when I was 18(I mean it sucked not being able to gamble), I still enjoyed it. Vegas is trying to get out of that phase right now, but there is still plenty to do if you're under 21.
  10. What I want to know is, why is this worth 6 pages of topics? And where's a puking smiley when I need one?
  11. Booooooo. I wasn't one of the people that was thinking it would go in storage then rebuilt, but I was hoping Flashback would get a fourth chance...mainly because I never got the credit after 5 years of the stupid thing sitting there taunting me.... Oh well, here's hoping something good goes in its spot. Also, whoever can get demolition pics, those would rule... I'm not sure if I can get out there this weekend or not. -Amanda "RIP Flashback, even though I never got to ride you" V.
  12. What bothered me was the press releases, describing how much stuff they had going on in the park back then, and how much effort they put into making each area special (ie Spillikin Corners). It bothers me to know that what was once such a unique area of the park is mostly shuttered buildings. The park would be so much better now, if along with trying to get the family thing back together, that they focused on getting this kind of stuff back.
  13. My husband and I have free passes to USH and are planning on going tomorrow (yay, I can finally get my Mummy credit!). So the question is, does anyone know how the crowds will be tomorrow, or how they usually are this time of year? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Aww.... thanks for the memories. It makes me sad to look at these, remember what a great time I had going there, then realise that I can't ever go again. If you have any more stuff, keep it coming! I thought I had a map from the 90's lying around somewhere.... I'll look for it.
  15. I've never had a bad experience ON a coaster (aside from riding Deja Vu once hung over...ugh...), but waiting in line I have had a few. The worst was a few months ago.... X was only running 1 train,so the line was slow to begin with. Some stupid cheerleader bimbo teenagers cut me in line to re-ride with their boyfriends. After about an hour and a half, we FINALLY got up to the station, and.... something broke or someone hurled, because I didn't see a train dispatch for a really long time... About 20 minutes later I saw a train go up, then really slow dispatches ensued. Finally we gave up and decided to just bail. This still annoys me when I think about it now.
  16. I think I need a new monitor for my computer... I just got this laptop and TPR looks COMPLETELY different... ah, the things I've been missing ...Oh, and on a ranty excited note, it appears that I'm one phone call away from a second interview with Alaska Airlines... I'll find out Monday, hopefully. Was that random enough? ROFL.
  17. Just to reinforce my point really quick, here's a shot of the entrance at 10:20 am yesterday. Yes, the line is ALL the way back to the metal detectors.
  18. I saw some people up on lifts doing something to the track around when the park opened (we ran to X first), but other than that, I didn't see anything either. I took around 30 pictures of X but they didn't turn out too well so I'm not sure if I'll post them or not. SFMM was REALLY crowded today. We got to the gate at 10:20 and the whole entry plaza was filled, seriously (I think I have a picture of that somewhere too.) If I hadn't had the bright idea to wait in front of what is usually the season pass gate instead of with everyone else, I think it would have taken about 45 minutes to get into the park alone. (So much for it being empty). We ran over to X, like I said, and got on it twice. Revolution was broken, so we headed over to Tatsu and the line was already out the entrance, so we used Flash Passes. The single rider line for Deja Vu was open, but when we tried to go up it, someone got on the PA and said that it was closed (the line for that was out to the entrance too). Riddler was about out of the station, so we decided to use the other 2 Flash Passes on it, and the employee was cool enough to let us get on about the third train instead of the end of the station. Scream was empty, as usual. I didn't bother with anything else because from the lift hill of Scream I could see that the second parking lot was almost full; so we figured it (around 1:30 pm) was a good time to leave. On the subject of "updates", I didn't really see anything. The spot of Psyclone is still empty, Granny Gran Prix was open, and Flashback is still up.
  19. I hate asking GP questions like this, but has anyone ever been to SFMM on Thanksgiving, and if so, was it crowded? Tomorrow is pretty much my last chance to get on X before they change it, so I'm hoping the park won't be too jammed.
  20. This has the potential to be cool, but I just have the feeling SF is going to screw it up somehow. Also, where the heck are they going to put this tunnel? I mean, I guess the lift hill could be pretty sweet... but the brake run sounds boring as hell, kind of like the lift hill at the end of Ninja. You think you're going somewhere else but you're not. Although I can't think of anywhere else on the ride they could stuff a tunnel in, so... eh, I'll root for the lift hill. Double Loop had one at the beginning, without effects, and that made it pretty exciting... I guess I'm all for it, as long as it doesn't do one of the following: a) the effects are so cheesy I can't stand it, b)the special effects break after a while and never get fixed again, c)the line is so impossibly long that I can never even get on the fudging thing again, or d)it still ends up rough as heck. Oh, and couldn't they have come up with something more creative than "X2"? I mean, X was bad enough.... oh well. There's my 2 cents. -amanda
  21. Dude... SFMM is NOT going to burn down. Last I heard the fire was heading away from the park, and like 80% put out or something.
  22. Ooh, I've been waiting for a Zelda game to come out for the DS. I need to buy this!!
  23. My 3 favorite Arrows: 1. Canyon Blaster @ Circus Circus, Las Vegas (I can't believe it's an Arrow, it's so smooth) 2. Ninja - SFMM (repainting reminded me how just plain fun this ride is...beats me why) 3. Double Loop at Geauga Lake/wherever it's going now... A classic, possibly my second credit as far as I know, and a headbanger wherever it goes. But I love it.
  24. I finally thought of one ... ... Nobody ever mentioned "coasters", just "rides", so I rode Insanity on the Stratosphere in Las Vegas a few months after it opened. It was pretty freaky the first time but now I'd love to go on it again.
  25. I was at the park yesterday and the line for Deja Vu was REALLY short. Then again, it was threatening rain all day, so it wasn't all too crowded in the park. Anyways, that really means nothing, but... I happen to like Deja Vu and I hope they don't get rid of it. Oh, and on a side note, we got there at opening, and X, Tatsu, Revolution, and Viper were all shut down.... we were in the gates at 10:30 and I don't think we got on Tatsu until, oh, 11:45 or something. What the fudge? For the first hour and 45 minutes, all we saw were people walking around, heads darting around looking for open rides. Back on topic.... I've seen several people say now in this thread that "they should put (name this coaster type) in Psyclone's spot." Didn't they say already that we weren't going to get any new coasters for a few years? As much as I would like a new woodie too, I don't think they're going to put a coaster up in the near future. Just my two cents.
