^What a good post. Honestly (I don't know if it is good or not) this reminded me of the movie "Rollercoaster"... upon opening of Revolution at SFMM, all the ride ops were happy, enthusiastic to help guests, pointing everyone in the right direction... Although every time we go to SFMM my husband compares it to Disneyland (I still haven't been yet), I think the article was very informative, and repetitive of what I have seen at, at least, SFMM: slow operations, garbage full in the cans, talking with friends, etc. Also, I viewed the article from the POV of someone who has worked in customer service, and from that note, I can see where this guy is coming from. In conjunction with the post I just mentioned, does anyone have any PRIDE for their jobs anymore? Wouldn't it be cool to share the enthusiasm of someone who has just this one day at the park, to secure their harness and wish them a fun ride? Shouldn't you be proud to represent the place where you spend most of your day, regardless of whether you are making minimum wage or not? What if you see a large family wondering where the nearest bathroom is? What if you see a large group of tourists shuffling around, trying to get photos of one another... how cool would it make their day to have you stop and ask them if they would like a group photo? I hate to ramble, and maybe I'm dreaming... I wholeheartedly agree, IMHO, if SF wants to make a bigger profit they need to a) fire everyone that sucks and b) focus on more people-oriented, enthusiastic employees. I know it is hard on minimum wage, but... wow, can you imagine? I was blown away a few weeks ago when the dude on Log Jammer at SFMM told me to enjoy my ride... and the guy before the last drop waved "bye-bye" a la Looney Tunes! If that continues, then... I'm sold. I know the last few sentences may sound long-winded and drag on, but... I wanted to voice my opinion.

DISCLAIMER: I forget whether this Goliath has seperate load/unload stations, so bear with me. $2 is a lot, but are they THAT much of "locker Nazis"? At SFMM, signs and announcements at rides like Scream, Riddler, and X say that you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT carry any "loose articles" on board, but once you go to ride, it's easy to a) run across the train upon boarding and dump your stuff on the other side, or b) in the case of X, run down the station to the exit and dump your stuff before you board. Keep in mind, when Scream opened in 2003, I was sucked into the notion that we HAD to pay (what is now $1) for a locker. Now we know the trick mentioned above. If there is no possible way to get out of this... that sucks; I would write a letter as well. And there is my 2 cents. -amanda

Awww, I vaguely remember going to Conneaut as a kid (I think I was 4 or something). It sucks to see everything sitting there deserted. BTW, I think my few memories of that place included riding the pirate ship and the "spider" ride and puking ...but, it was still one of my first parks. Thanks for the nice shots of Lake Erie too, I miss it -
I'm on page 268... it's pretty good so far. I'm having a hard time putting it down though as I REALLY want to know what happens. By the way, for those in Southern California... I just walked into Ralphs a few hours ago and got my copy for $20. Sweet. Oh, and earlier today I dragged my husband to Order of the Phoenix, it was really good. I think it's the best movie so far.

OK, so here is an actual family recipe, since I noticed this thread was lacking: Weirdo Yummy Tomato Cheese Soup Chicken Casserole Thing A La Amanda Ingredients: Chicken (preferrably boneless skinless breasts or tenderloins, but anything will work) Broccoli Cheese Soup, any brand (2 cans) Canned tomatoes (the chopped ones, DRAIN THE FREAKING CAN FIRST) Grated cheese (your favorite, we used cheddar) Breadcrumbs Casserole dish (a glass rectangular one) 1)Preheat oven to 350 degrees F 2)Dump 1 can of soup in the casserole. (This depends on how much chicken you are putting in, otherwise 1 can will be enough to cover all) 3) Put the chicken in. 4) Add the other soup (if necessary) and tomatoes 5)Spread a good thick layer of grated cheese on top, then a good amount of breadcrumbs 6) Cover the pan with tinfoil and bake at 350 degrees F until everything is gooey, bubbly, and delicious-looking. 7) Enjoy!! YUM!! -Amanda "It's been so long, and is so good, I think when I get paid I'm making this for dinner one night" V.

I usually crack my eggs on the edge of the sink or counter. You just have to make sure there aren't any shell pieces inside when you dump the egg in a bowl or whatever.... On a flat surface, I can't see anything other than smashing it, or barely denting the egg.

What coaster would you rebuild?
lapseofreason replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would go back and ride Corkscrew at Geauga Lake again. That was my first coaster EVER, and man, did it kick butt, IMHO. Oh, and while I was at it, I'd go back a few more years and ride Shockwave at SFMM, since my husband says it kicked total butt. -
Dude... that sucks. We could use some of your rain; we've only had 3 inches this year... the least in history, or so I've heard...

Anyone know how long this is going to last? I was hoping to make it over to the one in Burbank this weekend. Hopefully they have at least one of the Simpsons items and not just a Squishee -
I had to work this morning. And I have to get up early tomorrow to work, so we can't even go watch the fireworks. This is like the third year in a row this has happened Plus I just ate at work, and it's too hot to freaking BBQ (it's like 105F here). So I'm indoors, with central AC and a beer... that'll have to do.

Ugh! I have never had as bad of a flight, Greyhound ride, etc. as those mentioned! Maybe someone should make a "Crappy Travel Stories" thread... -
Because the FAA restricted them from building anything taller than that? Just a guess.

OK, since we have had a lot of good debates in this thread I'll ask for advice. Recently I've began to question what I've been doing with my life. I never even dreamed of myself as gay when I was younger; actually, I didn't really have any relationships with guys either. When I was 18 I moved out here to California; my husband was the first person that I fell in love with; as a result, I married him. A few years later I was working somewhere and I noticed that I was attracted to one of my supervisors, this woman about 10 years older than me. This went on for about 2 years without me saying anything. Along with this, I thought back in time to being nervous around cool teachers that were chicks, etc. and started to realize that I possibly could be bi, or maybe even gay (I still don't know). I ended up quitting that job due to a few issues, and eventually, I found that person on of all places, stupid Myspace, and told her how I felt. She basically told me to fudge off. I eventually got over it but found myself still looking at other women (flight attendants, cocktail waitresses, supermarket cashiers, etc.) and wondering what it would be like to be with them, fantasizing, stuff like that. Finally I told my husband and he flipped out, saying that if I was gay, we needed to get divorced, and he couldn't have me around if I was going out with other women. Apparently in his brain there is gay or not gay and nothing else. I also have realized lately that I care a LOT about him, but, you know... some things don't feel as good as they used to, if you know what I mean; we fight a lot over stupid stuff now; etc. So... I know this is kind of patchy in spots, and hopefully not too confusing, but what the hell can I do about this?

That's sad... he was actually one of my friends on myspace... I really didn't know him that well, but this sucks. Rest in peace, dude. (PS: Shouldn't this be in the random thread?) -
EDIT: Oy, I wasn't really ready to say that... I need to stop posting drunk. Well, if you saw what I said, you saw it. If not... oh well

None, but I have one stuck in my head from earlier: "Something for the Girl With Everything" (Sparks... the Faith No More version). If anyone knows what I'm talking about I will seriously pass out. LOL. It's not one of my favorite songs.. but... it's cool

^I'm sorry, I had to ask... how the fudge did you get stuck with summer school for PE? -Amanda "That sucks, I hated PE... except when there was floor hockey or sometimes, soccer" V.

On Ride Photos
lapseofreason replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Presenting... my husband and I on the Big Shot at the Stratosphere. This may be the funniest onride photo that I've seen, at least. We HAVE been on this before. Upon exiting, we glanced over at the photos as we usually do.. and instantly started laughing so hard, it wasn't funny. I HAD to buy this! -

Finally got my Speed: The Ride credit in Vegas. It was a little rough, but fun. All I need is Desperado now
