Last night I went to Magic Mountain for their Holiday in the Park drive through experience. Never in my life did I think I would be driving my own car through Magic Mountain but here we are. It was pretty cool getting to drive my car through the park and it took me about 25 minutes to get through. I entered through the backstage area by DC Universe near Batman the Ride and went around the park counterclockwise going through the backside of the park first, then going up the hill by Tatsu and Roaring Rapids to Baja Ridge, then through the front side of the park to Goliath and underneath Superman to the Screampunk District, and exited the park through the Screampunk District in between Scream and Twisted Colossus. Anyways on to the pictures. The first thing you see is the Six Flags bus from all the old Mr Six ads as you enter the park through the backstage area. Entering through the backstage entrance by DC Universe Going through DC Universe Crazanity was the only ride operating at the event...empty cycles that is. Driving around ornaments by Justice League and Riddler’s Revenge. Driving through the new Underground area of the park. Going by West Coast Racers which I haven’t been on yet. This whole area of the park is unrecognizable to me. Hopefully I’ll get to ride West Coast Racers sometime in 2021. I seriously don’t recognize this area anymore. I hadn’t been to Magic Mountain since 2018 when I last had a Six Flags Pass. I got one for 2021 though when I went to SFOG last month so I’ll be back when this park eventually reopens. Driving up the hill underneath Tatsu was my favorite part of the event. The area by Tatsu and Roaring Rapids was my favorite decorated area of the park. Driving by the Magic Mountain Coaster Hall of Fame Driving by the front of the park but not entering or exiting through there. The iconic front entrance area of Magic Mountain Bugs Bunny saying what’s up Doc to everyone. YOLO through 2021 The Golden Bear Theatre was well decorated. Doing a drive by Goliath Driving underneath Superman Happy Hanukkah a month ago. Going by DC Universe again but turning right into the Screampunk District. Damn, that's a lot of snow! I take that's very unusual for Austin? The very few times it has snowed by me in CA it was a light dusting and melted a couple of hours later.

What is Sing?

I went to Dollywood for Smoky Mountain Christmas in December and mask wearing was strongly enforced prior to boarding the parking lot tram entering the park. Once inside the park people pretty much kept their masks on but some people put them under their noses in the queues. Also nobody was following the social distancing markers in the queues but I blame that more on the rural Tennessee clientele than on the park. When I went to Carowinds and Six Flags Over Georgia on the same trip I noticed a lot more people were paying attention to the distancing markers in line but I think that has more to do with the Charlotte and Atlanta clienteles being better educated and well aware then the parks' enforcements of their COVID policies. Now as for ride operations, Dollywood was loading every row on every coaster except for Firechaser Express and the kiddie but only one party per row, which is fine with me. With the exception of Firechaser Express lines moved pretty quickly and operations were smooth. Once an hour, they would clean each train and run it once cycle empty but it didn't delay the line too much. Six Flags Over Georgia had very similar procedures to this and operations were pretty smooth as well. Carowinds on the other hand, had a very tedious procedure that was overkill stopping the trains every 30 min for cleaning with empty cycles and only loading every other row on Copperhead Strike which lead to 90+ min waits and only one party per train on Ricochet which led to 90 min posted waits as well (I skipped it). Only Afterburn was loading every row and still had 30-60 min waits when I was there due to slow operations. If I was you I would avoid Cedar Fair parks until COVID is over and visit Six Flags parks instead (I can't believe I'm saying this) for better operations. Disney and Universal are good to visit too as long as it's not peak holiday weekends or breaks. As for Dollywood, as long as you're okay with people not distancing well in queues and are willing to wear a mask go ahead and visit because nothing else is really diminishing the experience there (except for Lightning Rod being closed, but Lightning Rod being closed is part of the Dollywood experience anyways - at least for me).

I went to SFOG two Sundays before Christmas and every coaster was running (besides Mindbender of course) with walk ons to five minute waits all day. The only rides that were closed were Acrophopia, Pandemonium, the sky ride, and the water rides. I got on 27 rides (w/o Flash Pass) including Twisted Cyclone four times and Dare Devil Dive and Goliath three times each with day and night rides on most of the coasters. I got 10 new credits and had a great day there, probably one of the best Six Flags Days I've ever had. It was much better than Carowinds the day before where for Taste of the Season they had three coasters open and I waited 30 min for Afterburn (line got longer later on) and 90+ min for Copperhead Strike, and skipped out on Ricochet because it was posting a 90 min wait!

Thanks for the response. I have a Pass so I wouldn't have to pay to get in. I'm actually more exciting about driving my car through the park then the actual lights but I've liked what Magic Mountain has done with Holiday in the Park in the past so I'm curious to check this out.

I'm a Six Flags pass holder I want to do the Holiday in the Park drive through. Online it lets me reserve a time by myself and although they request at least two people per car it didn't specify it was required. Does anyone know who either works for the park or has experienced the drive through, will I be turned away if I show up with a reservation by myself or will they let me drive through by myself? I want to make sure I don't get turned away before I drive all the way down there. I'm excited about driving my own car through Magic Mountain.

Fantasy: Go to Japan for the Olympics in August and visit Tokyo to Osaka including TDR and some other Tokyo area parks, Fuji Q and Mount Fuji area, Nagashima, Parque Espana, USJ, and Kyoto. I was supposed to do this in 2020 and I had 20 days set aside for this but by March I knew not to buy my plane tickets. Since my sister has a wedding ceremony scheduled for the end of July in France I'll be likely visiting Japan in 2022 instead and although it won't be during the Olympics it will still be awesome because its Japan. Ideal: Not theme park related, but ski trip to Jackson Hole in February. Also weekend ski trips to Mammoth and Squaw Valley some time this season. Central Florida trip for all the new ride openings plus some area attractions and beaches with the primary focus being WDW, UO, and BGW, probably in June. Going to France in late July for my sister's wedding ceremony so I'm hoping to squeeze in some parks like DLP and Asterix, maybe head out to Europa. Fly to Barcelona to see relatives and go to Port Aventura. Enjoy Disneyland, Magic Mountain and other California parks when they reopen. Hopefully be able to do some haunt events like Knott's Scary Farm and HHN. Realistic: Jackson Hole ski trip some time this season because I have a Mountain Collective Pass. Weekend trips to Mammoth and Lake Tahoe for Squaw Valley using my Mountain Collective Pass asumming they stay open. Orlando/Tampa trip once Velociraptor, Iron Gwazi, and Ice Breaker open (probably in June) for WDW, UO, SWO, and BGT. Blizzard Beach too since I still haven't been there and it was closed on my last three consecutive visits to Orlando. My sister's wedding ceremony in the Brittany region of France is still on for the end of July so I'll at least go out for that and since I'll have to fly into Paris I'll squeeze in at least Parc Asterix and/or a day at DLP. Disneyland and Magic Mountain whenever they open since I still have three months on my Disney Premier Pass once Disneyland reopens and I ended up getting a 2021 Six Flags Pass when I went to SFOG in December. A day trip to Discovery Kingdom sometime this season too. I'm assuming these parks will be reopen at least in the back half of 2021. If for some reason these parks don't reopen by fall then I'll do another trip to Orlando for Halloween events and Epcot Food & Wine since my Disney Premier Pass is good at WDW until at least three months after Disneyland reopens.

If I could transport myself to Knoebels right now I would, but it's 41 hour drive.

I use a magnetic hide a key under my car with the key. Lol, the things people would do to save $2. Risk that your car may get stolen so you don't have to buy a locker. I'll bring a backpack with some waters and a reusable drink cup and the amount I'll save on drinks will be more than the amount I'd spend on ride lockers.

Those two KMG flat rides remind me of the ones I rode at Oktoberfest, sans the outward facing seating on the frisbee.

It takes place in Georgia. In the movie the main character kid goes from Atlanta where he lives with his parents to his grandmother's plantation with his mom in a rural area where he meets Uncle Remus who tells him the stories about Brer Rabbit. The briar patch in the animated parts of the movie is the mountain so it wasn't much of a mountain to began with.

With Disney just announcing the retheme of Splash Mountain to The Princess & The Frog, Universal might as well just annouce the unnamed Jurassic rollercoaster already.

I was going to say I hope the Tokyo Splash Mountain stays the same just to have it be different than the others but this is an even better idea. I'm all for it! From the concept artwork it looks like a large bayou tree is going to be the mountain with the big drop so I don't see an issue here.

As long as they have Super Nintendo World open for the Olympics next year. I can't wait to see this thing when its complete.

Dang, too bad. I'm glad to see people visiting Indiana Beach but I wish they would distance and wear their masks when they can't distance. I can't be too surprised though as Indiana is the state of Mike Pence and there's a lot of people there that don't think the virus is still going around.

Same here. I actually liked Duinrell and didn't hate it or dislike like it like some people on the trip. This is a place where I could spend a weekend and just kick it and enjoy the water park (which looked really good) and walk around doing some rides and explore around like going to that view point you went to (which I didn't even know about until you snapped a picture of me on the alpine slide). Gearhart and I had a pretty good game plan for hitting up all the coasters that Andrew Goldberg went along with for the most of the time we were there. We went around counterclockwise and hit up all three coasters first starting with the Eurofighter. We waited 45 minutes for the Eurofighter and about 15-25 minutes each for the other two coasters. We were also able to do Wild Wings and the alpine slide and have lunch in between at La Place (which was pretty good although the most expensive counter service meal I had in NL). I also did the very tall slides and the Aqua Chute slide. I really wanted to do the boat jump but had to cut that out (I've done the one at Skyline Park in Germany though) and would have also wanted to do the covered splashdown boat but we decided to skip it to fit in Wild Wings and the alpine slide. I definitely could have spend a whole day here but a few hours here was better than no time at all here and being stuck at the crowded airport longer. You can tell I was having a good time here by the pictures you took of me. Great pictures of Amsterdam from the air btw. I'm envious you were able to get a window seat on the right side of the plane. I really did miss the best part, didn't I? Poffertjes should be an automatic! I only had Poffertjes twice on this trip and this was one of them. I had two different styles of Poffertjes, traditional here and with cherries and cream toppings at Walibi and both were great. These were kind of messy but I ate them while walking and waiting in line for the alpine slide. I feel like it's a good park to just hang out at. I definitely get the camping aspect and why people would want to stay overnight here. The Poffertjes I had at Duinrell (sorry to troll you with this picture Andy)

I think they'll go weekends only for a while then go back to 365 when the virus is eradicated. I don't think they'll go back to weekends only when summer ends but I could see them being closed two days a week like Tues-Wed for awhile. I could see Georgia doing this but doesn't St. Louis have brutal winters?

What donut did you get? Most donuts I've gotten from VooDoo were around $3 which is a reasonable price for being on theme park property. I also think VooDoo is a little bit overrated but it's definitely better than an Albertsons (or any other grocery store) donut which is more like $1 now. I think comparing it to a donut shop donut which runs $1.50-$2 is more fair.

Bummed that I never went to this place. I was going to squeeze in a visit here if I was going to Tokyo for the Olympics this August, but that's not happening now. I hope Yomiuriland is doing well, they seem to get a lot of the same demographic as Toshimaen but keep adding new rides and are close by. I have yet to visit them but plan on doing so on my next Tokyo visit next year.

I have three months left on a Disney Premier Pass when the Disney Parks reopen so I plan on using that. Disneyland reopens July 17 so I'll probably head there July 20 or 21 (Mon or Tues) after the initial opening weekend rush is complete. Since my pass includes WDW I plan on doing an Orlando trip in Sept or Oct (before my pass expires). While in FL I'll hit up SeaWorld and Busch Gardens too as long as their new coasters are open. I may hit up Universal Orlando too especially if HHN is on while I'm there. As for local parks besides Disney, I don't have any other current passes but if they are offering any deals like 2021 included with the rest 2020 then I may go for it as long as their parks having been running well. I'll be watching SFMM and Knott's to see how they do with reopening their parks. I'll be avoiding parks that don't enforce social distancing or don't require masks for the time being but I'm not worried about Disney. I do hope SeaWorld and Busch Gardens get their act together by Sept though.
