Yas Mall Abu Dhabi Trip report
805Andrew replied to dubaidave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's too bad that the food at the Roller Coaster restaurant sucks. Having that plate of food shaken up while going down that track probably didn't help. While I don't expect themed restuarants to have the best food ever, I expect them to have decent food like Rainforest Cafe or Bubba Gump Shrimp Company to get my business. Rogo's sounds like an idea of a ten year old kid being brought into fruition, where food is an afterthought. I would look around the restaurant and hopefully see someone's plate of food going through the tracks, but wouldn't eat here. Thanks for sharing and trying this place out, so we know what to expect. -
Kolmården Discussion Thread

Wildfire looks amazing with its RMC elements through the terrain and the woods and will definitely put Kolmarden (which I have never heard of prior) on the map when it opens. I love terrain coasters and this looks like the best one yet. While the delay due to permit/zoning issues is a shortcoming, I'm sure this project will eventually come to fruition, hopefully with this original design. I'd rather wait longer for this ride to open and have it be at its full potential then have them cut corners and modify the ride to get it open sooner. Plus this will give me more time to save money for a trip to Scandinavia, especially since I am going to Japan this Summer. -
TPR in Mexico 2015!

Medusa looks awesome. Six Flags Mexico has been officially been put on my radar because of this ride. The pyramids and the city looks awesome too. Three reasons for me to visit México D.F so far. -

Anyone who is a March Madness fan should watch this video. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/YGar4ZpFoVo[/youtu_be]

I usually do a trip to Tahoe each year in March but I didn't this year. I didn't even buy the Snowbomb Pass like I have other years. Now I'm glad I didn't. I got lucky the two times I hit the slopes this season that the snow was "good enough" - Badger Pass in December and Bear Mountain/Snow Summit (Big Bear) on Super Bowl Sunday. I also got comped tickets both times: Birthday ticket at Badger Pass and I won a ticket from KROQ for Bear Mountain. It seems like the last few seasons have been bad here in CA except for right after a storm. This year, though, it was bad for the whole West. I met people from Calgary, Canada a week ago that said there was hardly any snow there this season and that it has been in the 60s there recently. Global Climate Change may be finally having a toll on our ski seasons unfortunately.

I would have to agree with this. I saw Birdman last week and I thought the cinematography and acting were great, but the plot was stupid and the characters in the movie were really un-likable. It definitely didn't deserve best picture at the Oscars. My only explaination is the Oscar voting committee loved it because Hollywood loves movies about actors. I definitely think Boyhood should have won instead based on the nominees not because it was the best storyline, but because how it was made. It took 12 years to make and was really well done.

I liked Good Kid, Maad City, I'll have to check this one out.

Oh, cool, Muse has a new album coming out this year. I'll be looking forward to that. Also looking forward to a new Incubus album this year based on the Absolution track that dropped onto radio recently.

Oh cool, you guys are in México. Hopefully the rest of the parks will have better operations. Have fun and thanks for sharing. -
I've been to Spain several times having relatives in Barcelona from my mom's side, and every time I've been to Spain since Port Aventura has been open I've done a day trip there. From BCN Airport it will take you two trains to get to Port Aventura. One very short train from the Aeroport station to Barcelona Sants (the one and only stop) and a train from Barna Sants to Port Aventura (which has its own station separate from the town of Salou's station). The Aeroport station is located by the older Terminal 2 and you will probably be flying into the newer Terminal 1, so you will have to take the free airport shuttle bus to the older terminal. All the signs at the airport and most of the signs in the train stations are in three languages (Catalan, Spanish, and English) and are highly visible so they are easy to spot. At the Aeroport train station they have automated machines in several different languages to buy tickets that except Euros and pin based credit cards. I'm not sure if they sell tickets to other destinations or just to Barcelona Sants (the main train hub for the city). From Sants there are trains to all parts of Spain and to other countries as well. There both automated machines and tellers to buy tickets. The younger tellers usually know some English. You'll see banners advertising the park ticket + train ride (round trip) to Port Aventura all over Sants for a few Euros more than the regular park admission. You can also just buy the train ticket to Port Aventura as both a one way (ida) and a round trip (ida y vuelta). Specify Port Aventura (not Salou) which is one station before Salou. The train ride to PA is slightly over an hour depending on how many stops it has. You can request a timetable schedule for PA trains at one of the counters at the Sants station. There are 7-8AM trains that will get you to the park right before opening. If you are going back to Barcelona the same day the last train is usually at 9-10PM depending on the time of the year and often before park closing so you will miss the nightly fireworks (as I have every time I've gone there). I haven't stayed on site at PA but I walked through one of the hotels once and it was very nice, like Disney and Universal quality (PA was once a part of Universal parks by the way). The Port Aventura train station is right in front of the PA resort and there is a wide, obvious path that leads right to the park entrance. Many people will be getting off at the Port Aventura station (for some trains it's the end of the line) so you can just follow them into the park. On Tomahawk, I would consider it more of a family woodie then a kiddie woodie. It packs a bit of a punch for a junior woodie, although the seats can be a tight squeeze for taller and larger guests. In the old days, you had to be under a certain height or with a child under a certain height to ride Tomahawk, but now they let anyone ride it. Have fun at Port Aventura!

Knoebels Discussion Thread

Wow, Impulse looks like a really cool addition. It gives me another reason to want to come back to Knoebels - as if I needed one. Hopefully I can make it back here within the next few years. -
