  1. When Tornado - a Vekoma Invertigo - was still located as Sommerland Syd as the park was mainly aimed at families with smaller kids.
  2. Visiting Heide-Park I mostly keep myself busy going back and forth between Colossos and Huss-Land - with the random walk out to Desert Race and the old "Krake", a Schwarzkopf Monster. Let's see if the rumors are true and Heide-Park will get a B&M Wingrider in 2014 or 2015...
  3. Space Mountain or BTMR at WDW Magic Kingdom
  4. Might revisit in 2013 - have been there ages ago as a kid...at the time the Schwarzkopf's heven't burnt down yet but as beeing 5 yo I was to sheepish to do them. Damn I sometimes could hit myself for not riding them...
  5. I guess thats were measurements are different between the EU and the USA - I've no problems showing the vids to kids and my friends who have kids - these are the only I can show them to - never complained. German rating: PG-6. But you see it on the movies: Winona Ryder's womens drama "How To Make An American Quilt" got an R in the US for strong language and drug use - in Germany it got PG-6... It's kinda funny how over-worried some are about profanity but hand their kids a gun...
  6. I'm not really a cruise ship person as the visits to each port are mostly way to short for my taste. But I love to cross the Atlantic on board a Cunard Queen. There's great food and great drinks - at quite reasonable toll-/tax-free prices. The most classy way to start a US vacation!
  7. In Germany we had some American/British "Investment Companies" taking over German companies which were running okay and nearly first - or second - thing thing the new management did was to force the taken over company to take huge debts and pay it to the investor. Next thing was demanding a 10% revenue each year. So today "American/British Investors" have a quite bad reputation here now - mostly called "Locust Investors". Most companies here even prefer to sell out to China - but ain't really sure that's much better... I don't know about the main Sea World investor but hope it'll remain the operations running on the long turn...
  8. Hmmmm....may be the world did end on the 21st. Or how could I explain that Arrow got more votes than Schwarzkopf? A Schwarzkopf was my first inversion coaster and it's still my fav: the force, the speed, the lapbars. If the question would go which is my fav still operating company I'd go with Intamin: the force, the speed, the airtime. Maurer-Söhne with it's new lapbar-system coming in second but so far lacking big installations. On wooden coasters I'd prefer Intamin/Cordes prefabs with Gravitykraft Timberliners on them...
  9. Fixed: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Studios, Animal Kingdom Universal Studios Orlando Universal Islands of Adventure Sea World Orlando Busch Gardens Tampa Skyline Park Bayern Park Hansa Park Heide Park Planned but not fixed: Legoland Florida Legoland Billund (Denmark) Tivoli Friheden Färup Sommerland Djurs Sommerland Phantasialand Serengeti Park Freizeitpark Geiselwind Carnivals: Hamburger DOM - spring, summer and winter Bremen Freimarkt
  10. Will be interesting to see if the KuKa's will do inversions on this attraction...
  11. If you'd do such a move at a Scandinavian Sommerland you could skip the effort and file for bancruptcy right away. On most Sommerlands the parking lot is behind the entry gate so you can always walk to your car and get as much drink and food as you want from it. Kinda love that way... But in Europe I always take a handcart when going with some friends into a park and load it up with beer and a well-stocked picnic. Every park here features shaded picnic and BBQ areas - but you're also allowed to picnic on the grass throughout the parks. Normally the funny food/drink policies in US parks don't limit my experience as I mostly travel alone but I'd find them quite strange if visiting with friends...
  12. It's a Doctor Who - John Baker - snowman!!!
  13. Luckily I was at Holiday-Park on a slow day this autumn - scored in about 20 rides on GeForce which was at most a 5 minute wait. I really hope they scrap the Vekoma looper soon and replace it with something descent. It's still beyond my capacity how in the 80s you buy a Vekoma if you could on the other hand buy a Schwarzkopf...
  14. ^Honestly I've tried to check out the local bus system but the website of the transport authority is straight horrible and totally useless - so I've finally given up and rented a car. For example: The schedule-finder page on the site finds nothing about the buses you just mentioned. I entered "Disnyes Transportation Center" as start and the other parks as finish - and it told me to walk!!!
  15. Looks like a good ship - but I'll remain loyal to my Queen Mary 2....
  16. Looks like you had a slow at Busch Gardens - hope for the same end of January. Did you note which rides had single rider lines at Sea World and Busch? Would be nice to know... It's the force and the lapbars - and as on most pictures most riders don't use their freedom...
  17. This is why I don't visit parks on "special events" like Xmas or Halloween events - and seldom do parks on public holidays or school holidays. And if scheduling can't circumnavigate this times I either go on a Sunday or take the gamble and go on a slightly showery day to avoid the crowds. If all things fail and I have to go during high-season I normally plan 2 days - specially if visiting new parks with many new coasters.
  18. I never rode a Ring Of Fire but loved the HUSS Ranger or Weber Traumboot. Still remember one carnival operator who had the Ranger upside down, switched off all lights on the ride and then said to "collect all the money thats falling out". Sadly these rides are mostly gone today and modern inversion rides either don't stop upside down anymore or have OTSRs - what a fun-killer!
  19. Love it! Like on a Maurer SkyWheel!
  20. End of January I'llbe in there.... Next to all the new fancy coasters I'm also looking forward to Scorpion as it will be the only Schwarzkopf looper of my Florida trip...
  21. For me the difference is in parts not as put in the dictionaries. I put the Schwarzkopf coasters into the "intense" group due to the high positive Gs while I put the Intamin Megas into the "aggressive" rides as they pull high negative Gs. By the book both variants of Gs can be measured by intensity but the feeling of the ride is different making the grouping a more emotional thing.
  22. Funny to see an English carnival with mostly German attractions like the Schwarzwald Café, Irrgarten, Action and Wilde Maus XXL. Notably as here in Germany it's still said to better not to say that you're coming from Germany when visiting England - as in "Don't talk about the war!" most Germans think we are not very popular in England...
  23. At Hansa-Park is asked the operator after the Star-Flyer stalled all the way up - it took about 5 minutes to get us down. The ops said that it's a seldom computer hickup - you have to reboot the control system and then everything returns to normal. Have seen the same for the HUSS Condor if its on an automatic program. The ops has to switch to manual control, lower the gondolas and the reboot the control system to use the automatic program again. So mostly its just a computer glitch which can be solved fast and save. The manual safeties kick in and stop the ride were it is so every rider is save until the control computer takes over again. One should not miss a Star-Flyer as the views are mostly amazing!
  24. Most people have problems with seatbelts that lock differently than those in cars - to which they're used to. Aribus is now considering to to equip new planes with seatbelts locks that work the same way as used to in cars as this speeds up evacuation in case of an emergency.
