  1. This is one of those threads on here that I walk into and immediately walk out of. At least it's nowhere near as bad as the Darien Lake thread.
  2. Wait, you're saying it's a bad move to drastically improve a mediocre coaster? I see nothing wrong with a potential world class coaster replacing a coaster that many didn't find that spectacular. I could also be reading it wrong and you see Joker as an upgrade.
  3. Why should the prelift matter if the coaster is going to be insane postlift? It exists to get the blood pumping a little before the lift.
  4. When I end up leaving work at 1:45AM instead of 10PM because of a quinceanera that no one decided to tell me was happening and made me clean up by myself.
  5. I don't know. I could argue SFOG for that title as well considering the size and scope of their expansion and what that means for families.
  6. Have you been to SFOG? There's a ton more shade at the park than you may realize, and I doubt the park is just going to remove all the trees around the new area.
  7. Definitely a great addition that actually makes me want to go back to SFOG again just to try those Flying Eagles and and S&S Tower. Considering that this is another part of the multi year expansion planned, I'm excited to see the expansions continue and hopefully cumulate in a new coaster within the next couple of years.
  8. I'm actually surprised that Six Flags has kept everything tight lipped compared to last year. By the time the announcements were made last year, everything was pretty much revealed.
  9. You know, most other parks out there would love to have something like this: a compact, smooth, relatively low cost coaster that's highly marketable, and instead of praise for Six Flags finally installing something that complements and adds to the existing line up, the people here get pissy because their 500ft inverted hybrid aquatrax with 20 inversions isn't being built. I don't get why a new coaster has to be about being the biggest or baddest among enthusiasts. It just needs to be fun, and that's when it becomes a winner, and from what I heard, these things are just a mess of pure fun and enjoyment for everyone which I'm sure is what the park wanted. There'll be a time for a longer and bigger ride, but I think Six Flags is doing something great by putting in a ride that the whole family can enjoy. Anyway, while this bitching is happening now, I have a feeling most of you will be among the first ones at the park when this opens to the park, and we'll hear nothing but positive reviews.
  10. So, it's either going to be JLB4M or a HH expansion for next season. Now that SFGAdv is getting a coaster next year, that just leaves SFOG and SFOT as the only major Six Flags parks to not have received a coaster since 2011. I kinda have to wonder if they're planning on something major for the 50th anniversary in 2017 or just a few shows.
  11. Can I ask why you feel that way? It's been proven time and time again that OTSRs are not really needed on looping coasters as long as a lap bar is adequate enough to keep you in place while inversions occur.
  12. I think I remember reading something saying that after 2016, Six Flags doesn't have any more contracts with RMC.
  13. Hey, whatever takes lines away from Mind Bender and Goliath is alright by me. I can wait for a new coaster even if we're getting close to 5 years since DDD. Now, if they choose to remove Ninja next season, I'd be even happier.
  14. Yes, unless one of a few other things happened: 1) New non-PTC trains are part of the rehab as well 2) Knott's decides to seriously scale back Ghostrider's operating season (maybe to around 200 days from the 300+ it's at now) 3) Lots and lots of trims Let's hope one of the first two is the solution... Very true. I agree with Robb that the ride needs an off season, 2 or 3 months of yearly maintenance. Trouble is, how do you explain that to people who just won't get it? Just ask them if they'd rather feel like they're gliding on butter or being in a continuous car accident, and that should shut them up.
  15. My 8AM class was only 7 minutes long today.
  16. Why are people still claiming this? Six Flags didn't rename BTR after two accidents that were very similar to this, so why would CP rename a coaster that has no relation to the accident besides being in the same park?
  17. At least the Lions have a better chance of getting a Super Bowl title than MIA getting a new coaster.
  18. Wait, if the announcement for the new ride is the 29th, does that mean the rest of the chain will announce their additions that day as well?
  19. So, if they added at least one inversion to Roar, would the park have any major rides that were non-inverting?
