  1. ^^Awesome! I love events like this at Knott's. They remind me that the park has not been 100% Cedar Fair-ized yet.
  2. ^^Actually, if you have three relatavely light people, (my party) and one huge guy, you really can spin fairly well. You just need to hope that a large single rider will be available. So, this may be the first TPR event where you actually want to have ACErs show up during ERT.
  3. Let's see: Riddler's Revenge, S:EFK (bent rows) Viper- It has rails that divide the station into 3 parts that begin at the bottom of the stairs. This is pretty much the worst arrangement I have ever seen The Beast/Trailblazer-The second worst system I have ever seen. Switchbacks in the station are bad enough, but splitting them in two just doesn't work. Racer, Jackrabbit (KW)-Racer's station actually looks pretty good, but both of these rides suffer from a lack of air gates or rows, resulting in very slow dispatches. (About 6 minutes for Racer)
  4. Not that I have really had time to observe zac spins, but is it possible that the seats just needed some time to loosen up a bit? The ride seems to be running much better now than when it opened, but it still does not look as insane as Insane. On one of my most recent rides, our car was barely off balance, but we received two flips in the second half. Also, to ride with minimal discomfort, keep your body against the restraint, and try to avoid being stapled in your seat by the restraint. So, essentially, it is the reverse strategy of X2, where it is best to keep your body back against the seats. Actually, pretty much all rides with Intamin 2nd and 3rd generation OTSR's have that same problem; they really are great restraints, except toward the end of the ride, when they tend to get forced down. It is best to try to avoid this, although it can be difficult.
  5. Bad customer service. At a hotel at 11:30 am, ready to head to SFGAdv, I called to speak to a real person to ask about their policy of park closure (it was raining at the time) Response: "We will not close as long as some rides can operate. We do have about 7 coasters running now" That seemed fair enough, so after leaving the hotel (and hitting up some confusing signs and traffic, I arrived at the park at 1:30. Well, Kingda Ka was not running, no shocker there. But, I could see El Toro cycling trains! So, with my ticket ready, I head to the park entrance, which, strangely, the gate was down. They had closed due to rain. Actually, they were closing at 2PM, so I tried to be able to get inside, to hopefully be able to get in a ride on El Toro. When I asked the information staff if I could do this, the response was "come back tomorrow". Well, that is not so easy if you flew in from California! My response: Well, I can't exactly do that, I am from California, and I will be busy during my entire stay Staff: So, why can't you come back? This story does have a happy ending, though! I was able to find an extra day to be able to make it inside! Though, now that I have all the credits, I really hope another US park builds a prefab, so I never have to set foot in this place again. Since most of their visitors are local, it feels like they can treat people however they want.
  6. I would actually like to have been on one of the shows earlier episodes, involving more fear challenges. However, once you start having to eat live insects, I'm out!
  7. Knott's Berry Farm Slowest, worst food service ever. Hard to believe food service is the reason this place even exists. Why it takes a full hour just to get a chicken sandwich when there are only 10 people in line in front of you, I do not know. Not personal, but I once knew someone who had an Oreo Mcflurry craving. So, he went to one McDonalds to find their machine broken. Next, he went to another McDonalds, and their machine was also broken. Finally, he decided to purchase an Oreo shake from Carl's Jr.
  8. ^I rode X2 twice on Wednesday. One train had some of the audio working, and one didn't. The one with audio was running amazing, but the one without was running very rough. Also, on the audio train, not all the speakers seemed to be working. I have noticed the ride can tend to do that, though. Often, the ride has one good train and one bad train. It probably has to do with which one has come out of rehab sooner. A couple more notes: -Dispatches on Superman seemed quite consistant, but I never rode -GL had no stopping on the MCBR -Tatsu usually took about 3 minutes to dispatch. Only one station was running, though, despite a 2.5 hour wait -The Apoc crew was rarely stacking (this was one of the last days they were running 2 trains). The ride literally felt like a 'pull down the lab bar and go' type of ride -Log Jammer's station is still fully intact; the sign is even still up! -(This may have been here before, but I never noticed it) Riddlers and Goliath seemed to have dispatch timers displayed in the station, 60 seconds for Goliath, and 90 seconds for Riddlers. The Goliath crew was almost always done on time, but the Riddlers crew usually took around 2 minutes. They really need to install these on all other rides. (Especially Tatsu) -X2 had little stacking. I ended up in the middle of the switchbacks by the TV's, and it took 30 minute from when the line started moving. However, they were still cycling empty trains for 15 minutes after opening, so the line took 45 minutes. -Riddlers, Batman, and Superman were all open, but not on the Flashpass -Scream was running very rough, almost painful -Deja Vu's queuing are is still up, but the ride is completely gone -Log Jammer (the ride) is still up Overall, I would say operations that day were the best they had been since [insert date here] Images coming soon!
  9. The loudest launches are probably S:EFK and all the Intamin Accelerators The loudest rollbacks can be found on pretty much every Arrow ride, especially X2, and the suspended coasters. However, the rollbacks that seem the loudest are the ones on the BTMR rides; the first lift in the small tunnel is just deafening. And, just about every non-prefab wood coaster makes a ton of noise. This is why it is just weird to watch and ride El Toro; it's totally quiet.
  10. ^^^Not to mention how AE has individual lapbars AND seatbelts, yet it still has a 48" height requirement. That thing could easily have a 42" requirement without the seatbelts. In comparison, Goldrusher at SFMM has the same height requirement with only buzzbars. I should also note Cedar Fair's love of extra seatbelts, particularly on on Arrow rides. Most Arrow loopers in Cedar Fair parks have seatbelts, while most in other parks do not. Same goes for mine trains and suspended coasters, even though the height requirement is still the same, if not higher. Cedar Fair must have a deal with its insurance company.
  11. ^Vu is already gone, but the queuing area appears fully intact, as seen from Apoc. Log Jammer's station is still fully intact as well (the sign is even still up). Have they even started taking it out? The ride's track looks like its still there
  12. Justin Bieber doing the announcements for the Super Bowl What's worse than Togo and RCCA rising from bankruptcy, buying out every coaster company, and reprofiling every existing coaster on the planet?
  13. Well, actually, this is really what I would expect to hear from a former Disney CEO, wanting to take greater steps toward family attractions. Cedar Fair is a chain known for bland rides, names, and theming. A former Disney CEO is probably just what this chain needs now, who knows how to effectively attract families. I am all for trying to make the parks more family-friendly, even if that means major coaster announcments will not be as frequent. My only fear is the Cedar Fair will be run and treated too much like a Disney park, resulting in too much focus on making the parks family-friendly, and not enough focus on the thrill market. Disney has done this effectively, but Cedar Fair parks are ganerally thrill parks. I believe, chainwide, spending on new rides should be 50-65 percent family oriented, and 35-50 percent invested on thrills. I really hope Mr. O's plan works.
  14. ^But all politicians are already idiots, so this is not an issue.
  15. ^Last August, on Lightning Racer (Thunder side). Since there was no one in line, I rode twice more without leaving the station. (After throwing up on the station floor) Note to self: Don't eat a giant burger at a sports bar and go on six rides in a row! When was the last time you were dissapointed by a movie?
  16. So, if posting a summary of a news article on the internet is bad, then should a law also be passed saying people cannot summarize news articles when talking to a friend? That sounds like the same thing to me, and the last one is considered violation of the First Amentment. So, in that case, this law is unconstitutional. Also, outside of CEO's of major corporations, no one really supports this law, so why are politicians, people who are elected by the people, for the people, and of the people, doing crap they know none of the people want? Any politician who votes 'yes' should not even try running for re-election. I bet bribes probably had something to do with it. So, if laws like this can be passed, then we will soon have laws limiting the amount of time people can spend on internet, computers, and phones. Next, we will have a permanant Sedition Act, followed by a Constitutional Amendment that nullifies the whole Constitution. Then, we will have unlimited power politicians, and the US will become like an African nation, where a terrible economy forms as the result of ultra-corrupt politicians. If the Constitution can be bent like that, then why not bend it all the way?
  17. Our park, Fault Line Park, is now on the exchange! EDIT: I guess now its Fault Line Park vs Crap Park?
  18. ^ Doesn't realize the down button is a lower case v. < Still thinks Leviathan will be a descent ride v Gives me a counter-argument
  19. Best steel: X2 Worst steel: Pony Express Best wood: Apoc, old Ghostrider Worst wood: Grizzly, Ghostrider today Up until this year, Ghostrider has always been rough, but still rideable. Now, it is almost completely unrideable; even the pre-lift section hurts. It is probably rougher than Mean Streak at the moment.
  20. I was in the park yesterday. If you want to ride everything now, Fast Lane is a must. The Silver Bullet night crew was doing amazing, with little stacking. Ghostrider was alternating between stacking and not stacking, but I should note both of these rides had four ride ops checking restraints. Xcelerator, however, was only running one train with two ride ops, despite a 2 hour wait. Fast Lane had a 10 minute wait for most rides, and a 30-45 minute wait for Xcelerator. Knott's really needs a better system for Xcelerator and Boomerang loading, as, on these rides, Fast Lane works as an exit pass instead of a merge with the normal line pass. This makes it so guests in line can have their seats filled as they are about to board, and also slows down the Fast Lane line as well. Sidewinder's line extended out the switchbacks and past the station, with one train running. Perilous Plunge was running 1 boat, and sending it around every 10 minutes. So, esentially, the only ride with good operations was Silver Bullet. Ghostrider also had descent operations, but ops were pretty poor around the rest of the park. Heck, even food took over an hour to order and receieve. I believe summer '07 or '08 was the last time I ever saw Xcelerator run two trains.
  21. No stacking or gum wall! What's next? Adding shade to the front of the park? Descent food offerings? Aliens blowing up the Earth's core? What!?
  22. Best Disney ride: Indy, Test Track Best Universal ride: Mummy (Florida) Best Six Flags ride: Green Lantern, SFMM (A surprising step up from the usual Six Flags level of theming) Best Cedar Fair ride: Ghostrider, Knott's (Might be the only themed queue for any Cedar Fair ride, aside from Disaster Transport)
  23. X2, without question. I really wish more coasters were painted cherry red and black!
  24. Headed to the park tomorrow. I'm anticipating huge crowns, but I am really not sure what to expect. Also, how is knotted this time of year? I can deal with sfmm's operations, but knotts does not handle crowds well...
  25. Every single Facebook application! 21 questions is nothing more than a chain letter app, and Farmville and Cityville let you pleay for free for a awile, then make you either pay to move on or wait to get stuff from others. Luckily, these games are not fun anyway, so there really is no motivation to pay more. Also, you have to keep ignoring all these messages people keep sending you via these apps. And, if you ignore them for more than a week, you will get more messages from Facebook saying you are ignoring them. Facebook is really just one of those fads no one really liked in the first place.
