  1. One thing that I am not really sure of is how B&M's number of customers has stayed the same from the late 90's, pretty much until now. In fact, 1999 and 2000 were two of B&M's busiest years, and they decided to go forceless the very next year. What I find to be even more head scratching is that B&M had handled requests for less intense coasters before (SFDK, Hersheypark), but they just abruptly made these two coasters the base for pretty much their entire lineup. If I had an unlimited amount of money, I would build a park containing B&M designed the way B&M used to design all coasters.
  2. What seems ironic to me is how Busch and Universal's operations seem to be getting worse as time goes on, but Six Flags has been getting better over the past few years. Even Disney seems to have gone downhill a bit. If the trend continues at this rate, we may soon be saying "Gee, I really wish Universal were run by Six Flags!" In fact, Six Flags might be on its way to becoming the second most efficient American theme park chain. That is just sad. Five years ago, people would have laughed out loud at this post. Now, it might just come true.
  3. Another thing about B&M's is how they are not only cookie-cutter, but also tend to develop a rattle. My ride on Diamondback was in row 2, and that was literally one of the worst roller coaster rides I have ever had. I should never have put my head against the headrest. The rattle gave me a headache, ans was about on par with Kingda Ka's rattle. The philosophy of making great looking rides that are forceless really seems odd to me; if you put a forceless B&M next to an old B&M of the same height, I believe they would generate the same revenue back overall. Plus, the second would have the small added bonus of coaster enthusiasts. The general public don't really care if G forces are strong of weak, unless they are talking about Goliath of I305. I do know someone who has gotten sick on Medusa West, one of B&M's most forceless rides. Do you really think anyone gets off an old B&M and says, "gee, I really wouldn't get sick on that if the G-forces weren't as strong"? B&M really needs to offer requests of more or less intense rides. Instead, they just go with less intense for everything.
  4. ^Well, Magic Mountain actually was one of the proposed names for Matterhorn. Although, we all know Magic Mountain will never go back to its roots as a "Mountain". In fact, it's almost surprising that they still have the title 'Magic Mountain'. It seriously sounds like something you would name a kiddie park. 'Extreme Mountain' sounds like a much better name, since extreme rides are all they build. A terrain coaster seems quite unlikely at this point. However, they did do a descent job with Green Lantern's inside queue, so there might be SOME hope for a halfway-decently themed ride.
  5. Call me crazy, but I actually do have hope for Leviathan. You know everyone still goes ga-ga over Millennium Force? That ride actually has just as much, if not less, airtime than most B&M hypers. It was the sensation of speed that everyone seems to love. Leviathan appears that it will be like Millennium Force, just with more 'floaty' moments. Currently, the only 'top ten' rides B&M currently makes are their flyers. Let's face it: nearly everyone loves Tatsu. It is forceless in all parts other than the pretzel loop, but the sensation of flying high in the air just made everyone love it. Many agreed that Manta was just as good.
  6. Every single Windseeker/Starflyer. When SFDK opened Sky Screamer, I made my way over there the first week it opened. I waited 45 minutes. I probably won't be riding again for a long time. For Robb's opinion, I might go with 11 Inversion Coaster in China.
  7. As eager as I am to begin, I do have one question: We have six people. Yet, how can only four people build on a team? What will the other two do? (deathbydinn asked this, but I wasn't sure, either)
  8. ^^Crap! 4 PST on Monday is one of the only times I don't have available. Should I just go with whoever is left by default?
  9. I know it's a little late, but I do still have some images of SFDK's haunt. Actually, calling this a haunt TR is stretching it, considering none of my night pictures turned out well; my camera isn't very good at picking up light. Medusa-let's ride! Wait! That's the line!? Forget it! Just get a Q-bot! Medusa is officially beginning to see the B&M rattle. Roar was running quite fast that day. I don't believe I have ever gotten ejector airitme on this ride! However, the ride did seem to be running at its usual roughness. Still running better than back in August, though. The ejector came on the hill that the airless camelback crosses over, in the front seat. V2: by night, the queueing area had overflowed all the way back to the ride entrance. Yikes! Even for Kong, the tunnel that leads to the queueing area was full. Anyone want to wait 2 hours for an SLC? Medusa is still the one of the smoothest floorless coasters. Hopefully some rehab will do away with the rattle. Leaving the station. Within the station, there was an insane amount of priority boarders. The wait for the front alone took 45 minutes, considering they could take any seat they wanted. At least it looks nice from the walkway! (Where you can't see the parking lot) The SLC for lack of a better caption The rapids ride look a little dry, now. Please get new Vekoma trains. Actually, this Boomerang isn't too bad, if you don't sit above a wheel. The daytime crew was actually doing a halfway-descent job sending out trains. It was a night that things just became horrendous. It was a night when I waited for the front. At lease six trains were sent out with only priority boarders, adding over 20 minutes to the wait. A straight drop on a floorless. Much better than a curved drop. Sidewinder. I feel bad for whomever sat in these seats. Medusa's first three inversions are fun, but the rest of the ride is just standard, forceless B&M fare. These are actually the same wheels as the invertiwheels! Well, actually, Vekoma uses a lot of the same wheels. One about one in four cycles seats would be sent out empty, due to not enough people being allowed up the stairs. Note to self: Go to CGA's haunt next year instead! (I dd take some actual haunt pictures, but none of them turned out well; my camera doesn't capture light well.)
  10. I can join. I could captain if necessary.

  12. It was 9:50 at night at Hersheypark, and I went to get in some last rides on Lightning Racer. When the train came back to the station, I puked on the station floor, still in my seat. However, since no one was in line, I just stayed in my seat and went around two more times until the park closed. Some people will do anything for a free ERT session. This move was pushing the limit, even for me!
  13. Then why are 2012 season passes on sale? That being said, I believe we are safe for at least the 2012 season. After that, well, who knows what?
  14. ^Waking up in Jigsaw's house-because he mistook you for someone else What's worse than all roller coasters and all roller coaster designers spontaneously exploding?
  15. ^The answer is simple; were all back in the early 2000's, when Premier Parks ran Six Flags. Six Flags: pumping millions into rides while making capacity suck. Fortunately, we're in a slightly better situation, considering the improvements of the Snyder-Sharpiro administration.
  16. ^Oh, god! Not the Key Club! They were there when I went to SFDK. They annoy the living hell out of everyone with their chants. Were they doing any repeated loud chants throughout the day?
  17. One of the lowest capacity rides in the world is the Proslide probowl, with a capacity of 60 per hour. I know this because I got in a line for one of these with 60 people in it. It took an hour. One person goes down the slide, followed by landing in an 8 foot deep pool. They slowly swim to the side, step out of the water, and the next person goes down. It is one of thes most tedious processes of any ride. I'm surprised Fuji-Q hasn't installed one yet!
  18. ^I did not say Superman had an 840 per hour capacity. My example was a ride that seats 28, dispatches every 2 minutes, and has a capacity of 840 per hour. You are correct, though, in saying that the ride capacity would be 720 per hour, not factoring load/unload times. With a Mr. Freeze system, the capacity would be around 720 per hour, but, with one station, it will be even lower.
  19. I used the following equation: C=Total capacity/hour D=Dispatch interval (in seconds) S=Number of seats on the train C=(3600/D)S So, If a ride that seats 28 has a two minute dispatch interval, then the capacity is 840 per hour.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a 12 car train sent out every 90 seconds equals out at 480 per hour. By comparison, SFMM's Deja Vu usually averaged 400 per hour, and Fujiyama, (Fuji Q's most efficient ride) averages out at 500 per hour. Psyco Mouse at CGA had a capacity of 800 per hour. The theoretical capacity of Medusa is 1300 per hour, but has that number ever been hit? (It usually runs around 500-600 per hour). This is why a full queue on Medusa signifies a 2 hour wait, even though, at full capacity, that line could contain less than an hour wait. ^I also have to say that even Knott's, a park famous for its inefficiency, can send out trains on Silver Bullet faster than the Medusa crew can. I went one time when the queueing area was almost full, and the wait was "only" 45 minutes. That same line would have probably taken about 90 minutes with the Medusa crew. At least this isn't a year ago, when they would run one train on Roar and Kong, no matter how long the wait was. Now, it is nice to have two-train operations (even though the crews are professionals at stacking)
  21. ^^^^^^/^^^^^ Really, I have never been impressed with SFGAdv's customer service. I have attempted to visit twice, and made it in the gates once. My first visit, it was raining quite hard, so I called customer service at around 9:30. It literally took an hour just to ask one question to a real person: "Will the park close in weather like this?" I was told that, as long as some coasters can remain open, they would be highly unlikely to close. I arrived at the park at 1:30, and the operator at the ticket window (who, by the way, was instructed to charge full price for parking) said the park would be closing at 2:00! Even though they still had 30 minutes to go, and several rides (including El Toro) were still running, employees were refusing to let anyone in. That really was a terrible first impression, considering I had flown in from California. After visiting some pretty awesome Pennsylvania parks, I decided to try Great Adventure again, to give it another chance. The second time, it was a sunny day, and I had my SFDK pass ready. The employee scanned it, and it did not scan properly! He proceeded to look at me as if I had handed him a Fuji-Q Highland season pass, and asked me where I bought it. I had to go to customer service have my pass run through their system, so I could be given a ticket stub to make it inside. I have found that SFMM passes always work fine at SFDK, and vice-versa. (I have owned both) I guess Great Adventure is not very west coast friendly. Actually, that statement could apply to the entire state of New Jersey, so why not have a park that fits the theme of the state?
  22. ^That is true, but, the insane amount of priority boarders is still present, as well as the slow dispatches. Now, the crew consists of THREE ride ops, but it still takes over 3 minutes to send out a train. Why can GCA dispatch a seven car inverted coaster train in less than two minutes with two ride ops, but Medusa can't send out an 8 car train in under 3.5 minutes with three ride ops? In spring 2007 or '08, I waited an hour for Medusa. There was one train running, and the ride was a station wait! (for the middle of the train!) SFDK vs SFA vs SFLR: which park has the worst ride crews?
  23. I just want to make my way to a Cabelas right now, buy myself a nice rifle, and shoot myself a nice deer. That will help get my anger out at Peta. Then again, my anger management tactic would require a hunting licence and lessons and training, so that probably isn't a good idea.
  24. ^Or Speed. Hopefully that will be rebuilt. All the other coasters in the Vegas area are painfully rough, so I really hope the city's best coaster moves somewhere else.
